St George’s is a purpose-built dementia care home. The home is dedicated to caring for adults living with dementia, from early onset to more complex end-of-life needs, the home provides all types of dementia care including nursing, residential, Parkinson’s and short-stay care.

The home has its own dementia champions who work to improve the quality of life for residents through daily activities and opportunities for reminiscence and stimulation. Furthermore, everything at St George’s is on one floor, making it easier for residents to find their way around. The home’s interior has been decorated to suit individuals with dementia, being colour-themed and including memory triggers.

The home has a home for home atmosphere, pleasant communal areas, and a secure well-maintained courtyard garden, it provides a relaxing living environment. The home also benefits from its on-site pub, hairdressers and tea hut for all to enjoy.

All bedrooms have en-suite facilities, the majority lead out to the garden or courtyard area and all come with a 24-hour call system.

Enjoying food is an important part of life. The chefs create well-crafted menus made with the freshest ingredients. Soon after a resident arrives at St George’s, staff discuss their personal preferences and dietary needs with them.

There’s a real sense of community at the home. The staff work to discover what residents enjoy doing and the home's social calendar is organised around those interests. St George's has been fantastic since the moment my mother arrived, specialising in needs as she has challenging behaviour. The health care commission reports are wholly wrong in my opinion and I am highly critical of them, I think the St George's do a fantastic job and are extremely conscientious.
Staff
are wonderfully dedicated, caring and understand dementia, which I think the commission do not. They work hard, are respectful and dedicated at provided care. Play leaders are imaginative and thoughtful with their programmes.

Mum has been in St. George's nursing home for 10 months. I see her regularly and I am very pleased with her care and how she seems to have improved health wise since last year when she arrived to live with my family. It was a difficult choice to put mum in a nursing home but it was recommended after
many trips to A & E and a couple of long hospital stays. The staff at St. George's soon gave me confidence that we had done the right thing for mum. Mum still has a good memory so she knows that she has lived with us but when she comes to visit she tells us when she is ready to go 'home', that is to St George's. Mum has likes and dislikes and when she has told staff what she wants, they try to accommodate her. My sister visits mum a lot less frequently due to distance but last weekend when she took mum out she commented on how well mum looked compared to a year ago.

I worked with the NHS at East Surrey Hospital for almost 3 years and during the initial covid pandemic. I recently left there and joined this fabulous team at St Georges.

I have previously worked as a journalist in local newspapers. I used to write a music column called Sound Scene whereby I interviewed new up-and-coming bands in the local area. My other jobs include working as a nursery assistant for local childcare providers and I was also a civil servant, working for the Inland Revenue.


I love my job - it is varied and each day is vastly contrasting. I work with a very effective team who all bring different qualities and strengths to the department. Ultimately as a team, we all work together to enrich the resident’s lives which is of course our central goal.
