The Grange has a wonderful, caring environment that makes you feel at home as soon as you walk through the door. My Dad has been a resident for just over a year and has thrived in their care and is a very happy 91 year old. Everything is well kept and clean, the food is hotel plus standard, but the
part that makes The Grange special is the exceptional staff. Never a sad face or harsh word and nothing is too much trouble. Lots of group activities and entertainment is organised and there is always laughter and smiles for everyone. I'm so pleased my Dad is there.

All the staff at The Grange are very kind and approachable. I have confidence in the care they are giving my Mum. The communication with her family is excellent and I'm well informed of any concerns regarding Mum. The care home is very clean and well maintained and if I have anything that needs attending
to in Mums room I just email the manager and it is speedily with. Activities are outstanding and Mum is encouraged if she is willing or able to join in.

My husband is and has been very well looked after by the caring staff at The Grange Retirement Home since Easter 2017. He suffered a severe stroke which has left him bed bound and with no speech, so is very dependent on the care provided. The Grange has wonderful staff, particularly the regular ones
and the atmosphere is warm and friendly.

The Grange is like being in a large family home. Our parents could not have been better looked after, residents are treated like family members. The home is very clean to a very high standard. The Staff really do treat residents like family members, it is much more than a job to them. The level
of care and professionalism is extremely high. Both my parents could not have been better looked after, they were both very happy there and loved the Staff. It was obvious when we visited that Mum and Dad were happy, especially when you visit them and a staff member walks by and your parents ignore you to have a joke with them, which happened all the time! Unfortunately, both my parents have now passed away. It is difficult to express in words the amount of support everyone at The Grange gave us on both the occasions. Especially during the last few hours, they went out of their way to make sure both Mum and Dad, and us, wanted for nothing and made their passing as easy as possible.

I have been at The Grange Retirement Home for just over a year now and I have been very happy with the care I receive. My room is adequate for my needs and I enjoy sitting in the grounds and conservatory. The food is very good and the staff are helpful and caring. The home does try to meet all my requirements.

I chose this retirement home for mum when it was not possible for her to stay at home. 4 years ago, my dad was cared for here and the welcoming, professional and caring atmosphere still remains. I feel extremely confident that mum will get the best care possible here.
All the staff are friendly and
helpful at all times to both mum and me. Many of them have worked at The Grange for a long time, which I believe is a good sign. The home itself is well equipped and clean and tidy. The food is excellent and the home is often full of laughter, chat and music playing.

As always the standard of care and consideration towards my dad is faultless. He is cherished and nothing is ever refused to him or me when visiting. The staff could not do anymore that they do for him and it means that I am not constantly worried about him.

Mum was here a couple of years ago and I found the care and kindness exceptional. Now she is reaching the end and I had only one place where I knew she would be cared for with compassion and professionalism. Nowhere is perfect but all the staff at The Grange are pretty close. I have no hesitation with
my recommendation.

My brother was in the Grange from July 2012 until he passed away in September 2015. During his time there he was treated with the utmost care and kindness. He was a cheerful person and staff would talk and joke with him and have discussions about football etc. When he first went into the home he was
very frail but the staff fed him up and his weight increased. Unfortunately during his last year his illness took over but the staff never stopped treating him with the same respect. Sadly he passed away in September this year and I cannot praise the staff enough for the care they gave to my brother but also the kindness shown to me and my family. They said they were only doing their job but to us it was over and above duty. I cannot thank them enough.

My mum became a resident of The Grange in March 2015. The care she has been receiving is first rate. Mum suffered a major stroke which left her unable to walk and unable to understand much. She can now shuffle (with assistance) short distances. We were invited to this annual BBQ event and we did not
expect this to be what it was. Everyone was outside, all friends and families attended even past families were there helping out. This is a home that really does care.

Current Review Score: 6.2 (6.176)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 6.2 (6.176) out of 10 for The Grange Retirement Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 3.1 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 3.095 for The Grange Retirement Home is calculated as follows: ( (11 Excellents x 5) + (10 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 21 Ratings = 3.095

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.081 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Grange Retirement Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 62 registered maximum number of service users is 12.4. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.4 = 0.081

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
