The Wykeham House care team are passionate about the quality of care they provide for their residents, providing first-class 24-hour nursing and residential care, including expert care for residents living with dementia in the Wykeham House Memory Lane Community.

The residents benefit from a tailored care plan that takes into account their individual personalities, including their favourite activities and food preferences. Wykeham House Care Home is also able to provide Respite care and provide short breaks for residents wishing to stay on a short term basis. All rooms in the Home are en-suite, with spacious lounge and dining areas.

Wykeham House, based in Horley town in the borough of Reigate and Banstead, was built in 1995 and officially opened by Sir Richard Branson in 1998. The home is located less than 5 minutes from Gatwick Airport, near to Horley train station and close to the M23 and M25 motorways. The town of Horley has numerous shops and cafes to visit and is home to several hotels and bed and breakfasts that can be used by visitors who live a bit further away.

Wykeham House encourages their residents to keep in touch with their loved ones, including over email and social media, especially for those residents with family and friends who live further away. The home has free Wi-Fi, allowing residents and their visitors to connect to the internet for free without having to set up a private arrangement with an internet provider.

Wykeham House offers additional services such as the hair salon, a comprehensive activity programme run throughout the week and a family-based day on Sundays, allowing the residents to have a quieter day with their family and friends at the weekend.

Family members were invited to have a Sunday roast with the family member who resides at Wykeham House. Wonderful occasion. Well organised. Lovely atmosphere. Food amazing. Great occasion and look forward to a get together.

Hi, my name is Julia and I am the General Manager here at Wykeham House. Welcome to our website!


I started working part-time as a carer in a local care home when I was 16 whilst finishing my studies. At 18, I left home to start my nursing career and, after qualifying as a registered nurse, I went on to midwifery. After having 2 children, I found working in the NHS difficult to manage and had an opportunity to go back to working in care homes. I got my first management position in 1998 and have never looked back. It is so rewarding to do a job that I enjoy and that I am passionate about.

I joined Wykeham House in October 2022 but I have worked doing activities in care homes since I left College, I began volunteering in a local home when I was 15 years old and then took on my first job in a care home when I was 18. I have enjoyed extending my knowledge to improve my work and have a Level 2 in Dementia Awareness, Domestic Abuse Awareness and Mental Health Awareness. I have also attended courses on End-Of-Life Activities as well as Dementia focused Activities. I love what I do and for me, it is important that every day is a new day for our residents with new opportunities and a smiling face to come with it.

I began my career in traditional Chinese medicine, assisting in my father’s Clinic in North China, before going on to University to train as a nurse and also qualify as a beautician. The wider world beckoned and I relocated to the UK in 2005 where I began a career as a senior carer with Barchester. Realizing my greater potential, I advanced to nursing roles in haematology oncology and chemotherapy in the NHS. Then I decided to broaden my ability and career further by rejoining Barchester in a deputy manager role. Here the appeal is the wide-ranging responsibilities and focuses on developing skills and relationships to provide the highest standard of care for our residents.


Outside work I love to travel, paint and draw, cook, music, craft and garden. I love long coastal walks with my family and Spoodle dog.

Housekeeping Team

Housekeeping Team

Job Title: Housekeeping

Our housekeeping team are an essential part of maintaining and looking after the home. The housekeeping team run the in-house laundry service for our residents and ensures the facilities around the home are well-kept and clean. Each day the team cleans residents' rooms and communal areas across the home. The housekeeping team are another set of smiling faces our residents see throughout the day and residents are encouraged to maintain activities of daily living by helping the team complete their tasks.

This foundation in care has been instrumental in my growth and development as a carer. In June 2024, I proudly completed my Care Practitioner course, further enhancing my skills and knowledge.
