Moorhouse is a historical country house set in the heart of the village of Hindhead. Offering dementia and residential care, the home is registered for up to 36 residents on a permanent basis or for short term respite stays which are pre-bookable.

Bedrooms are light and individually decorated with the many enjoying undisturbed views over the National Trust’s Golden Valley. The majority of the ground floor rooms also benefit from patio doors opening directly into the mature landscape garden that surrounds the home.

My mother moved into Moorhouse Nursing Home at the beginning of September as she wasn't safe living alone at home. The staff have been unfailingly kind and helpful to Mum and to my sister and myself as we struggled with making such a change. It was made easier by expert support and the support of such
a great team. Mum has more interaction with people and activities and is brighter than she has been for years. It really feels like a home from home.

I often hear the chef asking residents what he can cook for them, I hear the housekeeping team discussing photos and reminiscing with residents as they clean their rooms. My mum had a fall and went to hospital. She was assessed and it was decided she was not safe to move back into the community. Moorhouse Nursing Home was brilliant. We managed to move Mum into one of their garden rooms. All the staff were kind and helpful and we can visit Mum whenever we like. The food
is delicious and Mum has the freedom to walk around as she wishes and go into the garden whenever she wants. The staff are very patient with her. It is a huge relief to all the family that she is safe and being well cared for.

Our parents moved into Moorhouse Nursing Nome on the 17th of August 2023. From the first visit when they were visited at home, we have nothing but good things to say about the home and the staff. Our parents have been treated with dignity, respect and compassion. The staff just can't do enough to care
for them and make them feel welcome. The whole team are wonderful. They especially took great care to find a room there are parents could be together.

My mum arrived at Moorhouse Nursing Home directly from hospital just before Christmas 2022. Within a few days, her overall well-being had transformed and she was looking so much brighter and more talkative. Her mobility has increased significantly since being at Moorhouse, I’m pleased to see her recovery
and that she is well supervised by the staff. My mum enjoys the food, especially the cake! It’s also good to see her interacting with the other residents and taking part in activities when she can. The staff at all levels are always welcoming, friendly and helpful. Moorhouse has a country house feel and it’s good to see improvements and renovations taking place. I enjoy visiting and my mum and I have often been given space and time to sit together and do activities. I’m really pleased that my dog can visit too. Whilst there will always be good and bad days with my mum’s Alzheimer’s I feel confident the staff at Moorhouse can provide the best care for her increased needs.

My mother recently (1 month ago) became a resident at Moorhouse Nursing Home, she has settled in brilliantly thanks to all the very friendly and caring staff. She enjoys the food and all the activities highly. Whenever there have been some early teething issues the management has dealt with them swiftly
and without any fuss. Overall I have been very impressed with Moorhouse in particular the way the staff interact with my mother in such a lovely way. My mother says how happy she is at Moorehouse.

My dad has come into Moorhouse straight from hospital.
He has had amazing care since he arrived.
He is in a freshly painted room with new furniture and the home arranged for his chair and TV to be picked up and put in his room so he feels right at home.
I cannot fault the care he is receiving.
Nothing is ever too much trouble, my dad is on a pureed diet which is all done separately, and when he is fed the staff are so patient with him. All the staff are attentive and friendly and we get coffee and cake when we visit.
My dad is always clean and shaven and his washing is all done and returned freshly ironed and hung in his wardrobe even though my dad is bedbound.

What a poor excuse for a nursing home. My mother was persuaded to go to this nursing home after consulting with Social Services. Prior to moving to Moorhouse Nursing Home, all she got to see were images and a brochure. She found the food poor, activities for the residents did not exist although listed
and exhorted on Moorhouse Nursing Home's website, management appeared poor and leaderless, and there appeared to be a lack of permanent staff with many agency staff filling the gaps. When I moved my mother from this place I took images of the filth on her floor which included dried faeces. I can not see how this home scores so highly. The whole place looked tired and underfunded although they charge a small fortune to live there. Not recommended in any way shape or form.

I was disappointed to read your review and I am sorry you have had a negative experience with our home. We take pride in the care and support we provide to residents and aim to keep a clean, comfortable and pleasant place to live.
I would also like to reassure you that we take cleanliness very seriously. Audits are in place to monitor all aspects of our home including standards of sanitation. Our housekeeping team clean rooms daily so it is disappointing it was not the case for your mother. Since your mother left the home in July, we have had a change in management at the home, with myself joining as Home Manager, and an extensive programme of refurbishments has commenced. Recruitment within social care is challenging, at times we have no alternative but to use agency staff to ensure the correct level of care is given to all our residents. I am sorry you feel that the home did not meet your expectations and I am happy to discuss it with you in person if you would like to contact me.

Mum has settled into Moorhouse very well. The staff are all friendly, helpful and kind. Mum enjoys the home-cooked food and social activities. It is a great weight off our minds knowing that Mum is happy in her new home.

My brother has been a resident at Moorhouse for only one month but I am both sure and confident that his needs are being met by the caring staff there. My brother has, for many years, been very disabled following brain and much physical damage from a road traffic accident, so he is completely dependent
on insightful care, and food management. This has been delivered by the experienced and patient carers at Moorhouse, witnessed by my wife and myself on several visits per week during this settling in period without prior notice. Visiting is encouraged and always welcomed. I am very pleased with the high standards I have observed at Moorhouse.

I visit regularly every week as a Pets As Therapy volunteer with my three year old Border Colllie. The staff are very caring and proactive in the way they deal with residents. Staff use the residents Christian name when speaking to them. The atmosphere throughout is very calm and friendly. The residents
I visit are all most cheerful and the majority react with the dog well and in a meaningful way.

My father has been in Moorhouse since September. We recognise that these have been difficult and challenging times in the sector, despite this we are satisfied that his care has been good. Regular staff are caring and approachable. Unfortunately, some agency staff have been less so, however, when concerns
have been raised they have been addressed promptly. The manager was exceptionally helpful in arranging respite care for my mother at short notice. Our thanks for all they do.

We could not have asked for better care and help with my father from all the staff at Moorhouse. I am an activities assistant in another local residential home and was very impressed with everything they did for him. My father was suffering with dementia, Alzheimer’s and cancer so needed a lot of care
and attention which he received. The home had a very cosy, caring and friendly atmosphere and the staff were always available to talk, advise and comfort my family. Fabulous place.

Our mum was taken into care at Moorhouse in late November 2021 after being released from hospital but unable to look after herself. Although this was scary for Mum everybody who works there has made her transition to her new way of life so easy. She has a lovely room with a view and looks so much healthier
with the care from all the staff. She is now making new friends and eating really well.
This probably couldn't have happened at a worse time with the Covid restriction, which makes the visiting harder at the moment but the whole Moorhouse team have again made this seamless and with excellent updates throughout, thank you Moorhouse.

My husband spent the last few weeks of his life at Moorhouse Nursing Home. His illnesses were complex and difficult to manage. From day 1 I found all staff caring and supportive. He was settled in quickly and importantly I was made welcome and felt he was safe and comfortable. Everyone made every effort
to meet his complex needs and although restrictions were in place I was allowed to be with him as much as possible. I felt at ease communicating with all staff at all levels and was very aware of the love and care given to patients. The atmosphere was homely and warm and yet everything was run efficiently. If it should be that I have to spend time in a nursing home, I would choose Moorhouse.

I cannot fault the service at this care home - all the staff are lovely. The communication between the home and myself was on the ball. The meals were purified for my wife and on the occasions that I partook, they were well presented and were of good quality. Parking was quite plentiful (and free).
The grounds are lovely and well-maintained thanks to the groundsman. The facility is quite secure and I felt good being able to leave my wife here knowing she was in good hands. I can heartily recommend this home to all.

My father has been a resident at Moorhouse for six years and the care, attention to detail and general well being has been second to none. He is happy and repeatedly tells me so. There is a great deal of staff who have been there for many years and they view the home as part of their family, and the
new recruits seem to be fitting in well with the comforting ethos of this special place. Well run, delicious food and high standard of cleanliness no one could ask for more. I cannot imagine how they have kept my father so safe, risking everything to do so in this pandemic, they have been nothing short of amazing. The senior management has always been only a phone call away to discuss any thought I may want to raise. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Moorhouse to anyone who has to make the ghastly decision to put their beloved relatives into a home and would like to make public how much I appreciate all the staff there.

My relative was at this nursing home for a number of years. The long-standing health care assistants at the time were very good and met my relative's needs. The food was generally of a reasonable standard and the chef did speak to our relative on a number of occasions to see the meals were satisfactory
for her. A couple of the registered nurses were caring, but numerous agency nurses and carers on duty often on a daily basis and especially at weekends, so therefore not always knowing or understanding the resident's needs and requirements. There is a new home manager in place now (who had successfully worked at this care home for some years previously). My advice is always read all the CQC reports thoroughly.

Was greeted by the manager. She was very friendly offering me refreshments. I was shown to where the lady was who I was visiting. All the staff were so friendly, smiling. I have never been so welcomed into a home. It felt like I was visiting somebodies personal home. The surroundings were very comfortable,
the lady playing the piano was enjoyed by us all. I have no complaints. Nothing but praise for the service.

Management and staff make Moorhouse Nursing Home a very friendly welcoming place. Delicious meals are prepared daily by a team of excellent chefs and kitchen staff. A professional efficient laundry service is provided. Afternoon activities bring much pleasure and laughter. The garden is beautifully
maintained, it's a real treat to sit outside. Finally to all the nursing caring staff that look after my husband and me. I thank you.

The staff are friendly, welcoming and kind.
It is difficult to nominate an employee of the month as they all give their all. The food is excellent, chef's salmon en-croute with creamy dill sauce is wonderful and would give celebrity chefs a run for their money. This nursing home now feels like home
to my husband and it certainly is my second home.
I can't recommend them highly enough. A big thank you.

Job Title: Laundry Attendant

I have worked at Moorhouse for 24 years and could not think of a better place to work. I’ve had various roles within the home but now spend my time ensuring all the laundry is fresh and clean. I love talking and seeing the residents every day – I like to put a smile on their faces and make them laugh. The home has a great atmosphere, we are one happy family.
