Visiting is an integral part of care home life. It is vitally important for maintaining the health, wellbeing and quality of life of residents. Visiting is also crucial for family and friends to maintain contact and life-long relationships with their loved ones, and to contribute to their support and care.
Additional measures are therefore in place to facilitate visiting while keeping care home staff and residents safe. These include:
•infection prevention and control (IPC)
measures
• individual risk assessments
• testing arrangements
• isolation on return from some high-risk
activities out of the home
The key things to know about care home visiting are:
•Vaccination is one of the best defenses to combat infection. It is strongly recommended that residents and visitors receive 2 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, plus their booster.
•Visitors should not enter the care home if they are feeling unwell, even if they have tested negative for COVID-19.
Transmissible viruses can be just as dangerous to care home residents as COVID-19.

Hi Ann
Since you had previously raised same these issues with us on 20/05/19 in our questionnaire, we came up with a number of options including keeping a Daily Diary in your mum's room for the staff to record their accountability for everything they do for your mother. You replied by email on 22/05/19 and agreed with Daily Diary as a good idea for our staff to implement. You have not raised any issues to us since and since we have an open door policy, we conclude there have been no further issues.
