  • Visiting
  • Visiting is an integral part of care home life. It is vitally important for maintaining the health, wellbeing and quality of life of residents. Visiting is also crucial for family and friends to maintain contact and life-long relationships with their loved ones, and to contribute to their support and care.
Additional measures are therefore in place to facilitate visiting while keeping care home staff and residents safe. These include:
    •infection prevention and control (IPC)
    measures
    •   individual risk assessments
    •   testing arrangements
    •   isolation on return from some high-risk
    activities out of the home

The key things to know about care home visiting are:

•Vaccination is one of the best defenses to combat infection. It is strongly recommended that residents and visitors receive 2 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, plus their booster.
•Visitors should not enter the care home if they are feeling unwell, even if they have tested negative for COVID-19.
Transmissible viruses can be just as dangerous to care home residents as COVID-19.
    Thank you.

  • Parking
  • There is onsite parking available for Visitors to the home.

I am very impressed with Rose Hill Nursing Home. It is a well run, professional, friendly organisation and I am delighted with the standard of care that my mother receives. I visit her often and am always made to feel welcome no matter what time of day I arrive. The staff are kind and friendly and I
am always offered a cup of tea when I arrive. My mother is always clean and well dressed and after spending the past 13 months at Rose Hill, she looks better than she did when she arrived. She is 93 years old, has advanced dementia, is unable to walk and is doubly incontinent, and I do not believe she could receive better care anywhere than she receives at Rose Hill. If I ever need full time nursing care when I am 93, Rose Hill will be my first choice. The garden is beautiful and the setting in Dorking is convenient and ideal. I can highly recommend Rose Hill Nursing Home.
Thank goodness for Rose Hill!

The quality and nature of the professional care at Rose Hill is first class. Residents are treated with dignity and respect. The food is good and the staff are very friendly.
The physical fabric has scope for improvement eg., the front door could be modernised and some carpets renewed where worn.
This
is secondary to the most important factor which is the care for each of the residents.

I have been really impressed with the quality of care that my mother has received at Rose Hill. She always looks well and happy when I visit her. With her dementia and mental condition she does grumble and complain as she has done for years, wherever she is, but she is also very animated and thrilled
when she talks about the various activities that have been done at the home. She especially loves the singing and music sessions. We are very happy that she is eating so well there and does not complain about the food offered and usually finishes everything offered as she has always been fussy about certain foods. Being doubly incontinent and needing a hoist to move from bed to wheelchair to chair I am impressed by the hard work carried out by the staff who work so patiently with so much care, so consistently. I can't recommend it highly enough.

My Sister was a resident at Rose Hill from December 2015 until she passed away in March 2018. She was very well looked after, with great care and compassion during her last weeks.

My mother has spent almost 4 years at Rose Hill and I can honestly say in all that time we have had only one concern, that was dealt with immediately and resolved straight away. The staff here are a good bunch. The Activities Manager knows everyone really well and adapts to their individual needs. The
Nursing staff, especially one, in particular, are fab and have enabled my mother to keep out of hospital until literally the last few days. In my opinion, a good nursing home is all about the people, rather than "bells and whistles" and I have always been confident that my mum was with people that genuinely cared. Thank you Rose Hill.

My aunt was a resident at Rose Hill Nursing Home for almost 5 years. The transition to the home back in 2013 was obviously very difficult for my aunt, but with the help and the enormous support from the very well trained staff at Rose Hill, that difficult time was short lived and she soon settled in.
My Aunt had been quite poorly prior to her residence at Rose Hill and we as a family thought that she would never recover fully from it, but she did. She was so full of life and happy there, we knew it was the right decision for her to live there. We had the worry of her living on her own prior to this and to have peace of mind knowing that she was in great company and the care of professionals was just great for us.
I certainly would recommend Rose Hill; it's like one great big family and it doesn't take long to feel a part of that.
Thank you for taking amazing care of my Aunt until she sadly passed away.

The care is of a good standard and excellent when it comes to an emergency.
The nurses are very helpful and the carers carry out the care very well. It would be nice to see the carers talking more with the residents for example when the residents are sitting in the lounge.
The activities that are
carried out are good but it would be nice to see more activities, particularly in the lounge in the mornings and more physio based activities.
Overall the care has been excellent and my father is very happy there.

My grandfather has been staying at Rose Hill, and I must admit that we as a family, have got no complaints.
The staff are extremely helpful and are trained to a very high level.
My grandfather has never complained about any of the services, which include the food.
The whole atmosphere in the
home is very warm and welcoming. Also, I realized that the whole team, who are working in the home, are very professional and polite.
My family can visit at any time for a visit without any tension.
I have come to realize that this home, is the real deal, and anyone wishing to let their loved one stay, will not regret it.

If anyone thinking about this great place, please do not procrastinate.

The care home and staff are always very lovely. My only concern is that in the evenings, my mother gets very upset and says she wants to go home and hates it there. I feel a lot is due to her dementia and a lot of other residents seem disorientated in the evenings too but OK during the day.
When mum
is seated next to someone else, she seems happier and can chat.
The TV is quite a way off for a lot of the residents to see, especially my mum whom is registered partially blind. To be able to see it would probably help the boredom in the evenings.

All the staff were very caring and diligent. The manager was very understanding and the nurse in charge most helpful and conscientious.
Nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean and comfortable and was made available at short notice.
The meals were nicely presented and looked tempted.

My mother has Alzheimers and has been in another care home since 2010. She was happy and was looked after whilst there, however she had a severe attack of urinary infection which left her in a weakened state when she had poor food intake and low blood pressure. As her mobility was also poor she was
admitted to a full-time nursing home. She is now 96 years old and is totally bedridden.

We are delighted to report that after two months at Rose Hill, our resident is spending some time in the lounge and enjoying her lunch in the dining room with our other residents !

Dad initially went into Rose Hill for 6 weeks respite following a stay at the hospital. He immediately felt at home and we were extremely happy with the care he received. Nothing was too much for the staff and he was treated with care and attention. Family and friends were able to visit at any time.
Due to deterioration in his health, he stayed in the home until his demise. The staff still keep us updated with events and we feel part of the community.

I needed to find a nursing home for end of life care for my mother who was due to be discharged from hospital. The home manager was extremely helpful and supportive and with her help we were able to get mum settled into the home within the week. I feel that she could not have received better palliative
care than she got from the nursing staff at the home. They linked in with the hospice nurses and made sure she was kept as comfortable and pain free as possible. She had a large, clean, warm and quiet room, personal care was good and we were able to visit mum whenever we wished.

I find the home and staff to be welcoming and friendly. They treat my mother kindly and do their very best to make her feel at home. Unfortunately a care home can never really be like home and a t 104 years old when she went into care my mother did find it hard to adjust. Her main problems are macular
degeneration and deafness, so it can be hard to understand many of the staff, who come overseas and have accents and a different way of speaking, I'm sure this would be the same in most care homes. I have the highest regard fro the owners. The manager, the recreation coordinator and all the staff the I have had contact with.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.060)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.060) out of 10 for Rose Hill Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.917 for Rose Hill Home is calculated as follows: ( (11 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 4.917

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.143 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rose Hill Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 7 = 0.143

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
