I visit Claydon House regularly as an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister taking Communion to individual Catholic residents accompanied by a member of the entertainment team.
It is notable, that the residents are treated with kindness, dignity and compassion by all members of staff as they go about
their daily duties. I have witnessed that those who cannot communicate easily with words are acknowledged by their nonverbal cues. Claydon House is welcoming and warm to all who cross the threshold.
During the relaxation period after total pandemic restrictions, proper attention was given to infection control, but the management provided me with access to testing and equipment to enable me to see residents in a safe manner. Thus, not only are the physical and emotional needs of residents attended to, but there is a genuine concern that individual spiritual needs are also recognised and met if possible.

My mother was a resident at Claydon House Care Home for over two years. Throughout that time I was impressed by the kindness and attention of the staff who cared for her, although she was not always the easiest person to care for. Although times were very difficult (because of Covid) and there was extra
work to do they seemed to go out of their way to be kind and spend a little time with her when they could. As well as this, she was always kept safe and in good physical shape. The management of the home seemed exemplary with good communication of what was going on, help with the timing of visits etc and all in a friendly way. I am happy to give it five out of five overall with one small complaint that I was not always kept up to date with her physical condition, for example, if she was ill.

Dad is generally content and the staff understand his needs and quirky behaviour. They are patient and treat him with kindness and respect. He can look a little dishevelled sometimes, but I understand with dementia patients the need to wait for the right time for a wash and brush-up!
Dad's room is
clean and tidy and his bathroom spotless. His room could do with a lick of paint and I don't like the synthetic bedding (Dad has a couple of cotton sets from home). The crockery can be a bit grubby and there is a lot of white bread! I think Dad enjoys his meals though. He is certainly not wasting away! 
The communication from management, especially during Covid, has been exemplary. Reception answers calls without fail and are extremely helpful and friendly.
I would really like to thank everyone for looking after my dad and how grateful we are to know he is in safe hands. He is a shadow of his former self but his quality of life is certainly enhanced by the excellent care he receives.

Claydon House nursing and care staff have been fantastic during my dad's recent illness. They rang every day with updates and the care he received was excellent. We have been able to visit him regularly, and also take him out for walks until his illness.

Staff are good, very kind to residents. My dad has difficult times and the staff have always handled the situation with kindness.
Only negative, cleaning could be better. Bed linen needs replacing. I have now purchased bedding for my dad's room.

I have been at Claydon House Care Home for a month and I'm really happy with the home. I really like the staff and feel well cared for. I really enjoy the wide range of activities, particularly the music events. I also like the lovely accommodation, the location is great and enables me to visit beautiful
parks and great shops and restaurants. I also really like the fact that my son can easily visit me from London.

I have found the staff, including the manager, to be kind and helpful at all times.
This disease my friend has is completely unknown to me and I have no idea how to cope with it. The staff seem to be able to answer any questions I have and reassure me when I am worried.

The staff are all absolutely lovely and take great care of my mother. This has been a very difficult year for everyone, and whilst before Covid, I would visit almost daily, the challenge of not being able to see my dad has been hard on us all. The home could have done more by way of communication. The
only way to speak to my father, who is deaf and has dementia was to phone him, he could not hear me, and the process was confusing for him. Some investment in Zoom would help.

Claydon House provides an excellent level of specialist care and our relative receives the appropriate level of focus and attention. Overall, the standard of care provided is constantly high. Communication over the past fourteen months should have been made easier with the technology that is now available
i.e. a large screen for Zoom meetings as opposed to an iPhone or iPad, and headphones for those with hearing impairment.

My dad has been living at Claydon House for almost 8 years. Pre-Covid 19 restrictions I was always visiting at different times of the day, weekends and bank holidays. I experienced staff providing good care to residents and they provide a range of social and stimulating activities. Staff have been kind,
understanding and professional towards my dad and myself. They have learnt how to manage his care needs and know him as an individual. I have always been able to contact my dad. I can speak to all members of staff and know that my concerns or queries will be addressed or issues taken on board. This attitude is extremely important as it provides reassurance and promotes trust that my dad is being cared for at Claydon House.

My grandmother went into Claydon House some years ago as she particularly wanted to be in the area and at the time it was the best of the 3 homes there. Since then it has gone steadily downhill. It is in need of a full refurbishment. The staff turnover is constant. The conservatory, which was the nicest
part, is scruffy. The pictures are bad. The furniture was moved and a pool table put there? The food was poor - always lukewarm, no condiments on the tray. Claydon House seems to look after the dementia residents, but the 'normal' elderly ones not so much. They are not children or idiots - treat them as such!

Obviously, 2020/2021 have been very difficult because of Covid 19. I have not visited the home in this period so my assessments are based on telephone conversations with the staff and previous visits.

My father became a resident at Claydon House initially for respite care due to Alzheimer's, however, he became a long-stay resident soon after. Even though he was only there for a short time, due to being transferred to hospital, the care he received at Claydon was impeccable. All the staff, including
the nurses, care team, kitchen workers, activity planner, the management and the office staff, were kind, supportive and extremely helpful to me and my family during a very difficult time, especially during these extraordinary times we find ourselves.

During the most challenging of circumstances, the home has worked so hard to protect residents and to provide them with good social activities. Visits have been enabled where possible. The care staff are very kind. There has been a smooth transition from one long term manager to a new one, and communication
from him is good.

Although my Uncle was only at Claydon House for a short time, during his stay, he was cared for with compassion and professionalism. I found the Management to be very experienced and dedicated to their residents and staff alike. During such difficult and changing circumstances, the carers gave my Uncle
first-class treatment and although I was unable to visit during the virus restriction rules, I was always able to speak regularly to staff, who clearly wished to get to know him better. My Uncle couldn't have been placed in more caring hands and I would not hesitate in giving my highest recommendation to friends and neighbours. A huge thank you to all those who cared for my lovely Uncle.
