Elstree Court Care Home, located in Meads Village, just outside Eastbourne, provides personalised nursing and residential care in a well equipped and welcoming setting.

Each and every member of the professional care team is there to assist you or your loved one in settling into life at Elstree Court. With a wealth of knowledge and experience in the care sector, the home manager leads the team to ensure residents are supported to lead their best lives.

The catering team at Elstree Court create delicious meals to ensure a lovely dining experience, and the dining areas provide a welcoming space to enjoy meals with fellow residents, or family and friends. During the warmer months, the outdoor spaces are also firm favourites with residents and their loved ones to enjoy a spot of al fresco dining.

The experienced and compassionate care team at Elstree Court like to learn about each resident’s hobbies and interests to design a comprehensive activity programme, supporting residents to continue well-loved hobbies or try their hand at something new.

As well as building a great community inside the home, residents are supported to take an active role in the Meads Village community if they wish to, connecting with local community groups and schools or visiting local establishments on regular trips out.

I am very pleased with all aspects of the care home. At the moment visiting is down to one person per resident a week due to the Coronavirus lockdown and being very concerned about the health of their residents they adhere to all guidelines and recommendations. The manager and her staff are all very
approachable and it seems that nothing is too much trouble for them. The manager is very knowledgeable in every aspect of care.

Before I retired 18 years ago, my work involved visiting about a dozen properties a day including many care homes and found that quite a large proportion of them fell below an acceptable standard.
Just over two years ago my elder brother had a serious fall at home and was taken into hospital, and it
became necessary for him to be taken into care. My wife and I were recommended to visit Elstree Court. The moment we entered the door we were greeted with a smile, we were shown to the vacant room and quickly realised we would have to look no further. We were very impressed with the room and my brother settled in very quickly, and the care he was treated with was very kindly and professionally, throughout his stay.
We can thoroughly recommend Elstree Court without hesitation.

My father was admitted to Elstree Court from another care home during the lockdown and the entire family were extremely anxious about how Dad would settle in.
We were unable to take a look around prior to his admission due to Coronavirus prevention measures but the manager was very reassuring and left
us in no doubt that Dad would be cared for.
We have been using our own video device to enable us to see Dad. All the staff have made these calls go really smoothly. On every call, we have observed that Dad looks well-cared for and extremely smart. He also seems to be more alert and engaged than he was in the previous home. The staff give us privacy but also engage with us in a friendly and courteous manner when setting the call up and at the end. They always leave his bell and drink within reach.
Communication from the manager has been excellent with regular updates on Dad's welfare and activities.
We can't thank the staff enough for alleviating our anxiety and caring for Dad.

Mum was cared for by the staff at Elstree for more than a year until she sadly passed away. We cannot thank the management, nurses, carers and extended team enough for the wonderful way they looked after her during that time. She was always treated with the greatest kindness and respect and their affectionate,
good-humoured rapport with her made such a difference. Mum could not have been in safer or more reliable hands. On more than one occasion their quick thinking and action saved her from traumatic A&E admission. Professional and discreet but incredibly warm and friendly, they are, without exception, the most genuine, kind-hearted group of people you could hope for to entrust with a loved one. They welcomed our Dad, my sister and me as friends on our daily visits and we will never forget their compassion and support in Mum’s final days. We would recommend anyone looking for care at its absolute best to consider Elstree.

Having gone through nasty medical experiences I have come out the other side, living at Elstree Court Care Home as a happy balanced person with plenty to do - in fact my day is very FULL of lovely people and a super room with everything I wish for, lovely and happy.

Every time I visit, I find the staff very helpful and the rooms are spotless. There is always some form of activity going on so everyone has something to keep them amused. Also, the menu has a good selection of meals to choose from. I found the visiting hours very flexible which allows me to work around
my spare time.

My mother lived at Elstree Court in Eastbourne for approximately two and a half years until her death.
She was very well cared for and obviously felt very comfortable there. The staff were so kind and helpful, even making sandwiches for her when she felt 'peckish' during the night!
When I visited
I always felt welcome, the staff were all very friendly, plus keeping me informed of any medical issues that arose.
I can't praise them highly enough.

The only complaint that is raised by the resident is the slow response to alarm call, especially during the night. This cannot be confirmed.

Thank you for your review. I understand on this occasion there was a short delay to the call bell being answered as four Residents were ringing at the same time. Our call bell records are checked at the end of each shift with staff being reminded that they have a maximum of 5 minutes to respond.
We continue to do our very best to attend to Residents calls as quickly as possible and apologise if at times there is a slower response.

My relative was always adamant she would never go into a care home. But her changing needs and time in hospital meant she no longer had that choice. We were worried. Fortunately, not only could Elstree Court provide the nursing care she needed but there was a room available. A large bright room where
she could have her own photos and knick-knacks around her. The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly and the staff efficient and helpful. They made her feel at home and are very attentive to her care and well being.
She quickly settled in and sees it as her home now and the staff like family. It's a relief to know she is happy and well looked after.

I have been here for respite care as I know the home well as my husband spent his last few years here. I have received excellent treatment and care from all the staff. I would definitely return here is necessary. I have a food intolerance and enormous help was given to me regarding this problem.

Genuine warm welcome on arrival, staff ready to help settle in. Very good home cooked food - with choice.

Yolanda

Yolanda De Castro

Job Title: Home Manager

“For me, it’s showing compassion to every Resident, taking the
time to listen and going the extra mile to support their needs.”


As a Registered Nurse, Yolanda has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Yolanda closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Elstree Court.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Yolanda remarked:


“I just love to see all of the Residents and staff happy to be in the home.”


Outside of work, Yolanda enjoys cycling, cooking and watching her all-time favourite films.
