Situated in a special location, just a few miles from Brighton in a quiet residential area, Haven Care Home offers peace and tranquillity alongside the convenience of being close to great local amenities.

The whole team at Haven are committed to delivering the best care and support to every resident, every day. Under the careful supervision of a home manager who has a wealth of knowledge and experience, they deliver personalised care to suit each person's individual needs and requirements.

Dedicating time to learning about each resident’s hobbies and interests, they design a comprehensive activity programme, supporting each person to continue to enjoy the things they love most, whether it be settling down to watch TV or tending to the gardens. Residents are also encouraged to get involved with the local community in Peacehaven, helping to maintain those ties so they continue to feel connected with their community.

Inside the home, Haven offers plenty of spaces for residents to relax, socialise and welcome friends and family for visits. The pretty landscaped garden and patio is the perfect spot to spend time during the warmer months and onsite facilities such as the hair salon and café ensure residents never feel short of spaces to spend their days.

Mum was close to passing away when she was moved to the Haven, but through the dedication of all the staff, she recovered and was treated as a close friend, none of which we have experienced in other homes. The atmosphere is always happy and the manager would always find time to talk to us and Mum.
The food is like hotel food (five star), the nurses and carers again are always smiling and never overstretched. Of all the homes we have experienced, this is the best and how all homes should be.

I visit my mum every day at this nursing home. Mum is very happy here and looked after very well by the lovely carers. All carers and staff are always so kind and thoughtful to me and my mum!


In all, a fantastic nursing home.

I visit my mother-in-law when my wife needs a break. The home is superb and all care is very good, it is a fantastic nursing home.

Having had a 5-hour journey to reach Haven Care Home, my father was warmly greeted at the door by several members of staff and introduced to everyone he passed. Tea and cake was brought to both him and ourselves and he was made to feel very welcome with everyone calling him by his first name, and introducing
themselves.


He feels totally at home and is warm, comfortable and well looked after.

We had, unfortunately, a need to find a care home for my mother - urgently following a prolonged hospital stay following a fall at home. The reason for choosing Haven Care Home was based on the helpfulness and genuine interest we received from the home manager.


Since my mothers stay which commenced

in March this year, we have continued to find Haven's attention to detail and dedication reassuring for my mothers continued wellbeing. We hope the service continues to be as good as it is now. The reason for rating satisfactory for management is only because we feel there is an inadequate support during the home managers off periods. We feel however the home managers work is excellent!

In February 2015, on visiting my mother in Sussex who was still living in her own apartment I was shocked to see a huge change in her and realised she was no longer able to live on her own and a visit to her GP confirmed this.


My daughter and I live in Staffordshire so I looked at a number of local

care homes which left me quite despondent. Then I came across Avery Horsefair in Rugeley and knew straight away that mum would find peace and contentment there. When she moved in her GP had given her a few months to live as her body was shutting down, but thanks to the incredible care from the staff at Horsefair, mum is now coming up to 99 and enjoying the company of the caring staff who pop in regularly.


Finding Horsefair is the best thing that could have happened to mum in her declining years. She is happy, superbly looked after and we can relax in the knowledge that she is in such a wonderful place, being looked after by staff who genuinely care.


A huge thank you to Horsefair.

My mother was initially unsettled when moving in and lost weight.
However, with care and support, she gradually settled, coming to terms with having to stay in the nursing home.
In nearly three years she had settled to being there even regaining her weight.
The loving and thoughtful care helped a
lot, they always had quips and humorous exchanges.
Staff have been attentive and very kind to my mother thus I could relax even though I knew she was so frail, knowing she was in very good hands.
Staff stability is really important, over two/three years my mother saw many of the same familiar faces.
Changes unsettle the elderly and frail.
Always led by good management.

All staff are polite and friendly at all times.
Excellent care, always someone able to talk to if any queries arise. Nothing is too much trouble ever.

Sadly my father was admitted to the home for end of life care. The care offered was meant to make his end of life as comfortable as possible and it failed him and us. I would not recommend the home for end of life care.

The staff have been very helpful from day one, they keep us informed how dad is doing and nothing is any trouble for them. Haven Care Home is very clean and dad said the food is divine and tasty. My mother has been at the home for just over 2 years. She is 90 yrs old. She is very happy and is extremely well cared for. The staff are great, nothing is too much trouble I live in Devon and can only get to see her every couple of months. I always get a very warm welcome. It gives me great satisfaction
knowing that she is safe and happy.

My mother arrived here from a residential home 5 days ago. Until this move I had been very stressed and anxious about her. She had 2 falls and was in a lot of pain. On arrival we were warmly greeted and offered a tray of tea. Her room is inviting and well decorated. The food she has been offered and
eaten is delicious. I observed that she looks clean and fresh, hair combed and someone had put a little lipstick on her. All the staff treat her with great courtesy and friendliness - and us too. I am hugely relieved and happy that she is now in The Haven for the final phase of her life - I am sure she is too. Thank you all.

My husband is cared for with kindness of professionalism. He is always treated with respect. All the staff are equally efficient and caring. They recognise his weakening condition and do all they can for him.

Introducing Daryl Winsor
Home Manager at Haven, Peacehaven


What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“For me, kind care is about making each day great for everyone and seeing everyone smile.”


As a dedicated healthcare professional, Daryl has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. He is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Daryl closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. He extends this caring approach to his Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


He also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Haven.


When asked what he enjoys most about his role, Daryl remarked:


“I enjoy seeing Residents with smiles on their faces and knowing they are truly happy. It’s wonderful to engage with them each day and it makes my job feel so special.”


In his spare time, Daryl enjoys travelling and exploring new places around the world.
