The Laurels Care Centre is delightfully situated just off the main road, just a short distance from the picturesque Old Town of Hastings and the seafront, with its unique fishing heritage and wide pebble beaches.

The Laurels is a well established and homely nursing home, offering the highest standard of care and comfort. The Laurels provide long or short stays, continuing or respite care.

Care at the Laurels is overseen by a registered manager and a clinical lead nurse who, together with all staff, is committed to ensuring that the privacy, independence and freedom of choice of residents are always observed. Staff value each and every individual who comes to live at The Laurels. All residents are assured they will be treated with respect and dignity, according to their individual needs and wishes.

The Laurels offers a mixture of bedrooms in comfortably furnished rooms, the majority with having en-suite facilities. To make the rooms as much like home as possible, residents are encouraged to bring personal items, such as pictures, ornaments and small pieces of furniture. There is also a double room available for couples.

The Laurels provides the little things that can be important to a good quality of life. A dedicated life-enrichment team arranges a wide range of activities. The Laurels also has an on-site hairdresser.

The Rochester wing provides additional facilities which include two large lounges with large widescreen TV, connected by an atrium, a quiet lounge, hairdressing salon and premium bedrooms, some of which give direct access to their own private garden or the communal/sensory gardens with shrubs and raised flower beds.

The Laurels welcomes potential residents and / or relatives to come and visit to see the home and all that it can offer.

Words cannot fully express how thankful we are as a family for the kindness and support we received. The transition of placing a loved one into care is never easy, but The Laurels took that burden off our shoulders with such compassion.
From the moment Dad arrived, he was greeted with genuine warmth
and dignity. After a long hospital stay, he faced the challenge of adjusting back to a routine, and every staff member played a role in helping him-especially on the difficult days. He was always treated with care, respect, and patience.
We went from preparing to say goodbye to Dad to watching him walk himself to the lounge for activities, engaging in conversations, and truly enjoying life again. That transformation is a testament to the power of excellent care.
Good care, good food, and incredible staff make all the difference. If we could pick up The Laurels and move it closer to home, we would in a heartbeat!
We miss you all.

Unfortunately dad's stay was shorter than expected, and he died within 2 months. I regret we didn't move him in sooner, as I feel his quality of life could have improved. He was well cared for by an amazing team of friendly carers. He was always clean and treated with dignity. His teeth were brushed,
even on his final day. Attention to detail, hospitals simply don't have the time for. I witnessed the staff attend to other residents with patience and empathy.
Having dementia Dad wasn't involved in any of the activities. But I saw a group of ladies grouped together every day, enjoying what was on offer. Once I overheard "Thanks for another wonderful day" to the activity leader. There's a sense of community.
One thing to improve is definitely the weekend office hours. Waiting to be let in and out takes away precious time with relatives, on most people's only day off. And it would be helpful to have someone to ask questions / leave messages with for senior staff to get back to.

The person being cared for was shown no dignity. They were left in bed day and night. When I rang for assistance on two occasions it took 30 mins for a member of staff to attend. The floor where this person was had a shared lounge space with a small kitchen. I saw dirty /broken blinds and I witnessed
residents shouting for assistance and no help. Bins under sink open without lids. Dirty unwiped surfaces and used plaster seen on side. Personal care was poor, incontinence pads placed loose on client /no nets /no pants. Skin care and mouth care poor. Food around mouth, on clothes and bedding, found from previous day. Drink never available beside within reach of client. No attempt at enrichment or stimulating activities for client. Client became unwell, family told she would be nursed by the home on the 'peace pathway'. Husband asked for wife to be taken to hospital. Wife was severely dehydrated, improved, now thriving in new residential. Vulnerable clients with memory issues deserve better.

For the short time our Mum was in the care of The Laurels we have nothing but good words for the care home. Mum's last few weeks were very hard on her and the staff from top to bottom at The Laurels were exceptional and ensured her last few weeks were comfortable and caring.

I would like to thank the lovely staff at the Laurels who went out of their way to look after my dad in his last weeks. Everyone knew him and made us feel so welcome.
Dad passed away at the Laurels in June and we spent the last week with him. The staff made us feel so welcome offering drinks and snacks
at all hours of the day and through the night. I had only ever heard horror stories of nursing homes but as soon as my Mum visited the Laurels she knew she wanted Dad to go there as she said it was small and friendly and she was spot on.
The last week my dad was non-responsive it made us feel so lucky as the staff would still pop in and talk with Dad and the fact they all knew him right up to the senior team who would often stop for a chat.
So many members of their team went out of their way to make Dad's time easier and I thank them all.

If you need a nursing home look no further than The Laurels Nursing Home. It is well-led by the manager. All the staff keep updated and are very knowledgable. I felt they really knew my dad and were sensitive to his needs both physically and emotionally. As relatives, we were well supported by friendly
helpful staff and felt part of a family. When dad died we were treated with dignity and sensitivity until the very end for which we are so grateful and always will be.

A lovely, happy and safe nursing home. The staff go above and beyond and are so caring and supportive, not only to the residents but also the visitors too. Nothing is too much. Beautiful gardens to relax in too.

I always found the staff very good and when I ask my friend he says the food is excellent. I have joined him in the lounge on occasion and enjoyed the entertainment. One negative, have to wait a long time at weekends to enter as no one hears the bell.

Mum has been a resident at The Laurels Nursing Home since December 2021 and has received great care. She is very happy there. The staff are great and always acknowledge me when I visit. I do feel the room could be in a slightly better decorative order.

My grandmother has been a resident for three years, especially during Covid the staff and residents became her family and to this day treat her with respect and kindness. When I visit with my children they spoil them and make a fuss which makes my nan especially happy.
The staff create a happy and
inclusive atmosphere, whilst ensuring their resident's care needs are met. As a family, we are so happy with Nan's care and do not worry if we are unable to visit.
