The Laurels Care Centre is delightfully situated just off the main road, just a short distance from the picturesque Old Town of Hastings and the seafront, with its unique fishing heritage and wide pebble beaches.

The Laurels is a well established and homely nursing home, offering the highest standard of care and comfort. The Laurels provide long or short stays, continuing or respite care.

Care at the Laurels is overseen by a registered manager and a clinical lead nurse who, together with all staff, is committed to ensuring that the privacy, independence and freedom of choice of residents are always observed. Staff value each and every individual who comes to live at The Laurels. All residents are assured they will be treated with respect and dignity, according to their individual needs and wishes.

The Laurels offers a mixture of bedrooms in comfortably furnished rooms, the majority with having en-suite facilities. To make the rooms as much like home as possible, residents are encouraged to bring personal items, such as pictures, ornaments and small pieces of furniture. There is also a double room available for couples.

The Laurels provides the little things that can be important to a good quality of life. A dedicated life-enrichment team arranges a wide range of activities. The Laurels also has an on-site hairdresser.

The Rochester wing provides additional facilities which include two large lounges with large widescreen TV, connected by an atrium, a quiet lounge, hairdressing salon and premium bedrooms, some of which give direct access to their own private garden or the communal/sensory gardens with shrubs and raised flower beds.

The Laurels welcomes potential residents and / or relatives to come and visit to see the home and all that it can offer.

The care of my mum since her arrival has been fantastic. All staff have been helpful and approachable and the room is always clean and tidy.

My mother was 102 in June and she was delighted when the staff came and sang to her with a lovely soft cake which she was able to eat. I'm really pleased to say that my mother is very well cared for. She tells me she is happy here and that the staff are lovely to her. It is reassuring for all the family
to know she is here safe and sound in her closing years.

The staff at The Laurels are highly professional, they care about the residents and show compassion and due diligence to all relatives and friends who visit. If you have any concerns they deal with them straight away and have good communication with you. The activities they provide are relevant to all
residents and are inclusive to all. I would highly recommend The Laurels to anyone.

My only critical comment relates to clothing. My relative has often been inappropriately dressed e.g. top only and pants, not dignified. She has clothes and nightwear. As my relative has a tendency to push off the sheets and her room has quite a bit of 'traffic' past the door, I do not like to see her
in knickers/pad exposed. At least a nightie covers her up a bit. I have complained on quite a number of occasions, better these past few months. My relative really enjoys the food and the staff are friendly.

Unfortunately, she does choose to remove clothing at times but all staff are aware of the need to assist her to re-dress fully each time. This was my first visit. I must say I found it very welcoming and friendly. I was made a cup of tea while visiting my cousin and she looked very happy and comfortable. I liked how you can just turn up without ringing. Thank you.

My uncle is very well looked after here, I have seen a massive change in his mood, his spirits have lifted and he loves getting involved in the activities. He loves the food, tastes lovely, has variety and is presented well. His room is always very clean when I visit, the home is just so beautiful.
The manager is very approachable, warm and friendly and always has time for us. We as a family are very happy he has settled in here.

The Laurels Nursing Home has been welcoming from day one. Residents are individuals, not numbers. Questions have been answered promptly and I feel I have been kept informed of events when necessary. My partner and I had a civil partnership ceremony at The Laurels in February and the staff made the whole

Mum has been in The Laurels Nursing Home since the end of September 2022. She is very happy, the staff are amazing and nothing is too much trouble. The meals are great, if not a little too large for Mum. In Mum's words, 'they are treating me well, they talk to me like an adult.' I don't think we would
find a better home for Mum. I have asked the office staff lots of questions over the months and they are always happy to take the time to answer and make sure I understand. Thank you all!

My mother came to the home suffering from worsening cancer which meant I was no longer able to care adequately for her at home. The room is lovely and well-equipped, and the food has been excellent. More importantly, the staff seem to genuinely care about the residents and their comfort. Mum is happy
she came here.

I was very pleased with the care of my godmother who was in the care of the current manager, clinical lead nurse and indeed the whole team at The Laurels. Due to covid and living a long way fro m The Laurels, it took a while to familiarise myself with the team. This is a team that listened to me and
supported my godmother in her final days.

I would like to express my sincere thanks for the exemplary care shown to my father by the entire team at The Laurels Care Home in Hastings. I am so grateful his last 5 months were spent in the Laurels rather than in hospital. They helped to facilitate long-distance relationships - thinking through

The care that my best friend received was really good. I think the home was low on staff but this seems to be a national problem so not much can change that. I think there can always be more time spent on staff just chatting with residents but The Laurels Nursing Home team were as good as they could
be, considering staff shortages.

On the whole, staff are kind, cheerful and welcoming to me when I book a visit and whilst I'm there. The person I visit is happy there and says the staff are kind and helpful to him too. They are busy but always have time for you.

On the whole, my family's experience of The Laurels Nursing Home has been very good, both my parents have been residents here. My parents have both been very happy here, although my mother says she doesn't like the food! But that is very subjective, it looks nice to me whenever her meals arrive when
I am there. The staff have been very kind recently in relation to the death of my father, and have helped to support my mother through this difficult time. There have been a couple of problems but these have been resolved quickly by the head of care and manager. Like everywhere these days staff shortages at times are a problem but I understand recruitment of more staff is being undertaken.

My mother in law is really happy in her home and I think she is being looked after really well. There have been the usual problems regarding staffing, which are reflected nationally. Many of the staff that my mother in law had got to know well have, unfortunately, left. She has found this difficult
at times especially when they were not allowed any visits. I have always found the management to be helpful and efficient in dealing with any issues that have arisen.

I have had several instances where communication has been an issue between myself and the management, I find that sometimes you are not listened to or ignored completely. My wife's personal items such as pyjamas, towels and face flannels are constantly disappearing, an issue which I expect happens
in a lot of care homes, but it is never the less annoying. On one occasion I was charged for something which my wife had neither had or required. When I questioned this I was told it was a mistake, on another I was not told that my wife required more toiletries so had to rush out and get replacements. I feel that these items should have been included by the home anyway as the room rates are quite high. I cannot fault however the attention to detail of the nursing side of the home, I am always informed of problems that my wife has had whether it be with medication, falls or her general well being.

We do always endeavour listen to the families and friends of our residents and respond as quickly as possible to any queries. Our laundry runs 7 days a week and we ensure that residents have fresh towels, face flannels, and clothing every day, which does mean that items are not always in the resident's bedroom due to the need to launder on a daily basis. Toiletries are generally provided by families, however, we can provide a toiletry bag at a reasonable cost if it's easier for loved ones. It's good to hear your positive view of our nursing practices at The Laurels and that you are being kept well informed.

Following a diagnosis of prostate cancer eleven years ago (PSA 1301) I was admitted to the Laurels Nursing Home in January 2022 - fast track discharge from the hospital - this further to extensive radiotherapy, chemotherapy and four major operations. I wish to place on record that care and social interaction
with the staff has been exemplary, quite beyond reproach. It has been much appreciated by me when contemplating a new chapter of life cycle. Very many thanks.
