The Laurels Care Centre is delightfully situated just off the main road, just a short distance from the picturesque Old Town of Hastings and the seafront, with its unique fishing heritage and wide pebble beaches.

The Laurels is a well established and homely nursing home, offering the highest standard of care and comfort. The Laurels provide long or short stays, continuing or respite care.

Care at the Laurels is overseen by a registered manager and a clinical lead nurse who, together with all staff, is committed to ensuring that the privacy, independence and freedom of choice of residents are always observed. Staff value each and every individual who comes to live at The Laurels. All residents are assured they will be treated with respect and dignity, according to their individual needs and wishes.

The Laurels offers a mixture of bedrooms in comfortably furnished rooms, the majority with having en-suite facilities. To make the rooms as much like home as possible, residents are encouraged to bring personal items, such as pictures, ornaments and small pieces of furniture. There is also a double room available for couples.

The Laurels provides the little things that can be important to a good quality of life. A dedicated life-enrichment team arranges a wide range of activities. The Laurels also has an on-site hairdresser.

The Rochester wing provides additional facilities which include two large lounges with large widescreen TV, connected by an atrium, a quiet lounge, hairdressing salon and premium bedrooms, some of which give direct access to their own private garden or the communal/sensory gardens with shrubs and raised flower beds.

The Laurels welcomes potential residents and / or relatives to come and visit to see the home and all that it can offer.

My mum has only been here a couple of months and we are very pleased with the home. In that time she has looked so cared for and so clean and each day is eating well. I have no worries about how it will continue. The staff and each one are brilliant.

I have been regularly visiting a friend at The Laurels since their arrival and I have been very happy to see various activities taking place, especially in the run-up to Christmas. Activities were listed for residents and family in their special Christmas brochure, which contains events such as a pantomime,
Xmas sing-along, several choirs and a puppet show, which I attended and the residents seemed to thoroughly enjoy. Staff are always good-humoured and professional and my friend is well cared for. The atmosphere is welcoming and caring.

I am very pleased with the care I receive but I am concerned about the length of time it takes for any medical procedures or advice to be acted upon or even disclosed.

Our local GP visits the home every two weeks and deals with non-urgent medical matters during his round and we have found this to be a very effective way of maintaining good continuity of care for all of our residents. We do not, however, have the authority to insist on extra visits except in the case of a medical emergency and although in many cases relatives feel a medical matter is very urgent the GP is the ultimately the only professional qualified to make that decision and does so by liaising directly with our care team.

My father was referred to The Laurels Nursing Home in February 2017 and sadly passed away in July 2017. He was not an easy man to look after as he was suffering from prostate cancer which he had fought for nine years but The Laurels did a fantastic job and gave him pleasure and dignity. We can not thank

I brought my uncle down from Basingstoke after he had a severe stroke. He spent the last 3 months of his life at The Laurels.


He was happy and everyone there was lovely to both him and myself. It was a lovely end to a very long and happy life (97 years). Thank you to all at The Laurels.

A lovely place, well kept and cared for, very clean and good facilities. Staff are excellent and always smiling and friendly and always speak to you in the corridors etc. Always popping in to make sure Mum is OK and not needing anything. I think we were very lucky to be offered a place there for her.

Really impressed with The Laurels Nursing Home. Had to transfer dad from another home which was closing and The Laurels Nursing Home is a million times better. The only thing dad complains about is that he has lost some of his Freeview channels on his TV! If they could sort that out then it would be
perfect!

My grandfather came to The Laurels Nursing Home from the hospital 2 months ago. He suffered a broken hip and only started to recover since he came here. Staff are very caring and help him with all his needs in a very friendly manner. I am very pleased that he is being cared for so well.

My sister was confined to a wheelchair for her last 5 years, she also had senile dementia and had to be moved to a Nursing Home towards the end of her life. While she was only at The Laurels for about the last 3 months of her life and she was unable to use some of the facilities the staff made her comfortable
to the end. We always found the staff very helpful and friendly.

With one exception, the staff are welcoming and friendly. Appropriate security measures are in place and even though I do not frequently visit, I am recognised and greeted by name.
The nursing care always appears to a high standard.
The residents are usually moved to a lounge for the morning and
lunch times. I usually read the nursing notes and check for personal cleanliness. I have no reasons to doubt that the personal care and attention is to a high standard. The matron is always available to discuss my partner's condition and well-being.
