My family and I can't thank all the staff for their amazing support and care in looking after my mum. Every member of staff went above and beyond in caring for my mum. The love, care and compassion they showed the whole family at the end of my mum's life was truly special.
There are not enough words
that truly express just how deeply grateful we all are.

My friend for whom I help care came into respite for two weeks while I was away. At the time she was quite unwell and the staff were so patient in giving her time and helping her with anything she needed. After only a few days she was greatly better and wanted to stay. So much so that she is going into
permanent care soon, at Lauriston we hope they have room! The commitment of everyone involved which included assisted baths and tempting food helped my friend and we both cannot thank everyone enough for the time spent there. I just wish every home I have seen over a number of years for different people was as good as this one. Thank you.

Staff are caring and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The home is clean and welcoming. There is always a good food selection and drinks are always available. My wife's room is very comfortable and she has things from home to help her feel more settled and at home. There are always things to
do and visiting guests to entertain the residents. My wife is always treated with care, compassion and dignity.

My mother was not the easiest of people: she was confused, angry and terminally ill. Not every care home would have accepted her as a permanent resident, but Lauriston did. The staff were sensitive to her struggle to settle in, and did their best to make her as comfortable as possible. The care she
received was exemplary. Seeing her consistently clean, fed and hydrated was wonderful for us, and we could see the staff really cared about her. Just before her 100th birthday, her health plummeted, though she managed to stay with us long enough to enjoy the wonderful party the home laid on for her. I believe she was really happy that day. The end-of-life care my mother received was superb, and she died peacefully of her cancer four days after her birthday. Even then, the care continued: her clothes were all beautifully laundered ready for us to take home, which to me sums up Lauriston's high standards and attention to detail.

My Mum has had a 2 weeks respite stay while I had a break. Although she was adamant that she did not want to go, she settled in quickly. From the first meeting and tour of the home, the staff have been nothing but helpful and friendly, I knew straight away that my mum would be taken care of with kindness
and respect. All of the staff greeted us by name on her first day which I thought was a good sign of great management! They made her feel very welcome, their kindness and patience put her at ease. She has been very well cared for, nothing is too much trouble, the food is great and mum has been allowed to do her favourite pastime - Puzzles! She has Parkinson's and dementia so mobility and memory can be an issue with her, but all that has been taken into account to make her stay as comfortable as possible. I would not hesitate in considering full time care for her which will be in the very near future. The whole team are amazing which is due to excellent management.

My mum has been a resident at Lauriston for nearly three months now following a lengthy stay in hospital. Mum has dementia needs and despite taking a while to settle in, she now considers Lauriston her home. This is largely due to the fantastic staff who work here and take care of her. She is treated
with kindness, dignity and respect and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. She is well looked after and it is such a relief to know Mum is safe. Her medical needs are dealt with swiftly and the staff keep me informed. The home is spotlessly clean and comfortable. The atmosphere here is warm and cheerful and everyone from the management team and carers to all the behind-the-scenes staff couldn't be more welcoming and friendly. Mum enjoys the regular music therapy sessions and having her hair done. I would highly recommend.

After two and a half weeks in hospital, my mother spent 4 weeks respite care at Lauriston. My experience of visiting Mum at Lauriston was extremely positive, the atmosphere is lovely and, friendly and you immediately feel like part of a family. The staff are both professional and personable. The variety
of activities are great and a big bonus for Mum with an onsite Chapel with weekly services and a lovely Chaplain for her spiritual well-being. The staff are so attentive and kind. I was very welcome to join Mum for meals and tea and cake in the lovely garden! Most importantly Mum received outstanding care which has massively contributed to her recovery, enabling her to return home. I can't thank you all enough!

Mum has been in Lauriston for 18 months, she is now 90 and we still feel we made the right choice for her health, safety, well-being and happiness. She has both some physical and memory problems. She is treated with great kindness, gentleness and respect. Her individual needs are catered for not only
with the practical, physical and memory side of things but also with music (which she loves) and Faith programs and services which have always been a part of her life. All the staff work as a team showing a real caring ethos at the Home. It shows as well because there is very little turn round of staff.
She is always saying how lovely it is to be there and also how lovely everyone is to her.

I visited my friend on a few occasions and was lucky to attend a care home open day at the home, the staff are amazing. They make everyone feel as though they are one big family. I am 76 and if I needed a home there is no doubt I would pick Lauriston. My friend had dementia and the staff were so understanding
and caring. The staff made me feel so welcome. I wanted to do this review a while ago but I sadly lost my husband recently. Thank you to Lauriston for all their care, you are amazing.

I am so grateful for the care that was shown to both my mother and myself during the last months of her life. I had found it necessary to move my elderly and frail Mother to Lauriston from another nursing home and from the moment she arrived her care was exemplary. Mum could be very demanding of staff
time and her needs were quite difficult to understand but the staff always did give her that time. All of them were there when she needed reassurance or company or even when she didn't know what it was she needed. She was looked after so well and everything that could be done to make her comfortable was done with respect and dignity. I felt that her needs were truly important to the staff and there was always a sense of looking forward. It is hard to express how much it all meant to me but thank you to everyone working at Lauriston.

Following a period of respite care, my mother is now a permanent resident at Lauriston. The care she is receiving is excellent, her room is clean, and she tells me that the meals are very good with a good choice. Snacks are also available between main meals.
Before Christmas, my mother had a medical
episode which required an ambulance crew to attend. The staff were very quick to contact me and inform me of what was happening. They then arranged a medication review by the doctor. The doctor changed her meds, and this seems to have resolved these episodes.
Activities are available for residents who wish to take part in - quizzes, games, sing-a-longs, etc.
I would thoroughly recommend Lauriston; it has a warm homely feel with excellent caring staff. The management team are excellent and happy to discuss any aspects of Mum's care.
As a family, we know Mum is safe and well cared for in Lauriston, and as her daughter, this gives me immense peace of mind.

I would like to say how lovely and friendly, just like home Lauriston is for Mother-in-Law. I visited and found her to be very comfortable, dressed beautifully, with hair recently washed, and enjoying the sunshine in the lounge with other residents. The staff were present but not intrusive until Mother-in-law
couldn't hear me, then the staff member fetched her hearing aids and expertly put them in. Tea was offered to me as well as Mother, and when I spoke about lunch it was explained to me that they had tried very hard to get her to eat, Mother said it was lovely and she had eaten it, but staff told me she doesn't always eat everything but they encourage her at every meal. I enjoy the service of worship when I go in on the occasional Sunday and feel it's just as much for me as it is for my mother-in-law. This is very important to me as I need support in this journey along with the rest of the family. Thank you to the manager, senior staff and all the lovely carers Thank You.

I would like to thank all of the staff at Lauriston Care Home for providing a lovely and caring environment for my mother during her final months. We initially chose Lauriston through a recommendation, and from the outset, I was so impressed with the Home. The accommodation is modern and light, airy
and open. Mummy required nursing care from the outset and the nursing, all HCA staff were simply outstanding in providing her care. The staff were always available on the end of the phone to reassure me and answered my never-ending questions - thank you. HCA staff were amazing, especially for the support and sustenance when required. I would particularly like to thank the one carer who was on duty the night my mother died. He was totally professional, and kind and accommodated us visiting in the middle of the night. I know that mummy had a quiet and peaceful passing in a sensitively arranged room - thank you. I heartily recommend Lauriston Care Home.

The Manager and her team have provided a safe and comfortable home for mum at Lauriston. Mum was well cared for, and I was well supported

I have nothing but the deepest gratitude for the care and support Lauriston provided to my father during his final days. The kindness and compassion were a great comfort to our family during a difficult time and we are grateful for the extraordinary care provided to him.
The staff at Lauriston went
above and beyond in making sure that my father was comfortable and cared for. He was provided with the utmost respect and dignity and we cannot thank them enough for everything they did. It was a great comfort to know that my father was under their care during his final days. Their professionalism and expertise provided my family with a sense of reassurance and peace, knowing that he was in good hands.

My mum has been at Lauriston for over a year, and we have been so pleased with the way she has been cared for during this time. (previously she was at another home and we had been impressed by her care at that one too).
I'm impressed by the full range of activities she has been participating in, and
we get to see many of these as they have an active social media presence so we got to see a lot of what she was doing. She was always looking well-kept and happy, which was encouraging as we couldn't travel to see her as often as we would like. She enjoyed the food there too, which was always so important to her. She also really loved all the music therapy she had as well as the Christian services that the Chaplain organised so well. The home itself is also a very well-kept home, clean and bright, and the carers seem to enjoy their work which is always a good sign. I'd recommend this home to anyone who is looking.

My aunt sadly passed away at Lauriston, the staff were all so kind and welcoming. My aunt loved joining in activities, especially the namaste room, what really stood out for me was the ability to bring the namaste to my aunt when she was too weak to get up, it really soothed the family knowing how well
the staff cared for her and the family as well. They would always offer tea and cakes which really made us feel welcome. It was always a pleasure to visit. I can't thank the staff enough.

My mother is a resident of the dementia unit and has been at Lauriston for five years. We continue to be very pleased with the staff and management and overall care my mother receives. My mother always seems to be happy, comfortable and clearly responds well to the attention and care she receives from
all the staff. Many activities are organised and with the encouragement she receives, my mother seems to enjoy getting involved. To all the staff and management, we appreciate all that you do!

Dionne

Dionne McEwan

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2022

Lauriston's dedicated team is led by Home Manager Dionne McEwan who brings over 35 years of health and care expertise, including nursing and midwifery, and holds a post graduate diploma in Dementia studies, IOSH Level 2 Managing Safely and NVQ Diploma Level 4 in Health and Social Care.


Dionne joined MHA in May 2019 and moved to Lauriston in 2022. Since becoming Home Manager, Lauriston has seen its carehome.co.uk review rating rise to 10/10 and it won the Top 20 Care Home in the South East Award in 2024.


Emma

Emma Lawlor

Job Title: Activities Co-ordinator

Joined: 2019

Activities Co-ordinator Emma joined the Lauriston family in May 2019. She has over 10 years experience in care with a NVQ Diploma Level 2 in Health and Social Care. She loves engaging with residents, whether it's running quizzes or Love to Move seated gymnastics classes for people living with dementia, or taking them out on trips to Hastings Old Town or even London.


When not at Lauriston, Emma enjoys spending time with her family including her twin girls and Dottie the French bulldog.

Steve Brayne

Job Title: Maintenance Worker and Gardener

Joined: 2019

Our Maintenance Worker and Gardener Steve joined Lauriston in December 2019 and is instrumental to the smooth running of our home. A former vessel planner, telecoms engineer and legal assistant, Steve clearly enjoys variety in his work and no two days at Lauriston are ever the same! His hobbies include fishing, upcycling and being with his family and three cats.


Karina

Karina Porter

Job Title: Senior Care Assistant

Joined: 2022

Karina, one of Lauriston's senior care assistants, has dedicated over 40 years to the care sector since leaving school. She holds a NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care and has been part of MHA since 2019, joining Lauriston in 2022. She especially enjoys taking residents on trips to the seaside and the theatre for pantomimes, creating cherished memories with them. Outside of work, Karina is an avid reader who loves spending time with her family including her granddaughter.


Nathan

Nathan Matthews

Job Title: Senior Care Assistant

Joined: 2023

Nathan, a senior care assistant at Lauriston, has over 20 years of experience in the care sector, including a previous role as a home manager. He holds a NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Health & Social Care and is currently being sponsored by MHA to train as an Assistant Practitioner. Outside of work, Nathan enjoys travelling and is a huge pet lover. His busy and noisy household consists of three dogs, four cats and two rabbits!


Molliegh

Molliegh Palmer-Eve

Job Title: Care Assistant

Joined: 2024

One of our youngest team members, Molliegh joined Lauriston in November 2024 after working as a domiciliary carer. She has a special interest in mental health and loves building connections with both residents and colleagues and finds Lauriston a great place to work. A talented pianist, she also enjoys pilates in her spare time.


Caroline

Caroline Wells

Job Title: Admin Manager

Joined: 2024

Caroline joined MHA in September 2024, bringing a wealth of experience in healthcare operations, training, and compliance. Previously, she was Business and Operations Manager at Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board and Office Manager for care home in Kent. With over 12 years of expertise in training and compliance, she is now furthering her knowledge by pursuing a MSc in Health and Care Business Management/Administration. Outside of work, Caroline enjoys spending time with family and friends and listening to music.
