St Peter’s Park Retirement Village (formerly known as Peterhouse Care and Nursing Home), is a real home-from-home in the East Sussex seaside town of Bexhill. The experienced staff provide high-quality, affordable nursing, residential, dementia, end of life, respite and convalescence care.

There really is something for everyone, to suit a range of different needs and tastes on the beautiful site. The lounges, dining rooms and residents’ bar mean there’s plenty of space for group activities. If you want some company, there’s always someone to talk to and to have a coffee with in the lounge. There are also plenty of quieter spots of you want to spend some time by yourself.

The care wing has bedrooms on the ground floor and the first floor. Ground floor rooms have direct access to the garden or courtyard. The first floor is fully accessible, by stairs or a lift.

Some rooms have en-suites. The rooms without en-suites have accessible toilets within easy reach.

The bedrooms are a blank canvas for residents to personalise with their own photos, pictures and furniture. Personal possessions help residents feel at home and provide extra stimulation and time for reminiscence. They also give staff an important understanding of a resident’s history and what’s important to them.

Unusually for a care home, all the bedrooms in the care wing have their own outside space, whether that’s a balcony or a terrace. There’s room for pots, a table and chairs.

Having lived here at Peterhouse for some 11 years I am still glad that I came and my ticks to details below prove that I am still satisfied. Obviously I am slightly apprehensive about the change in ownership but I am very hopeful that things will continue or even improve from our first contact with
the new directors.

I have been here for almost one year in a flat which I rent. I am extremely happy here and feel safe at all times. I cannot fault the service, kindness and general way of life. The staff are super, very attentive, there is also a lot of laughter, and great generosity. Lovely food, nicely served by friendly
staff. All the staff, in whatever capacity, are really super. Lounges are comfortable. I am very happy. The gardens are lovely.

I was received into Peterhouse at short notice for respite care having sprained my ankle. The care standard was excellent with very friendly and competent staff. My room had a balcony overlooking the garden and an en-suite basin and WC. Every need was attended to quickly and the food was also very
good. I would definitely recommend Peterhouse for long-term or respite care.
