Located in the pleasant market town of Polegate, just on the outskirts of Eastbourne, The Polegate Care Home offers nursing care to older.

Recently undergoing a substantial refurbishment, The Polegate has benefitted from transformed communal areas including dining rooms, lounges/day rooms, a reception area, bathrooms and corridors. The home also boasts a range of onsite facilities for residents to enjoy, including a hair salon, quiet room and a beautiful landscaped garden and patio, which serves as the perfect spot to spend time with friends and family.

Priding themselves on providing person-centred and sensitive care, the team place respect, dignity and independence at the heart of their practice. They are there to support residents to live life the way they choose, empowered to make independent choices regarding their care and the way they spend each day.

In addition to the range of activities available in the home, residents are also encouraged to take an active role in the Polegate community, from building relationships with neighbours in local community groups and schools, to arranging sightseeing trips in the local area, there is always something going on at The Polegate.

My wife was transferred from the local hospital for care after suffering a fracture to her collarbone and elbow on her left side.
As a result, she is unable to use her hands and is receiving much help in feeding and toilet facilities.
For two nights, she has had a mattress which is suitable for the
avoidance of bedsores but as she is able to sit during the day, this has caused her much distress regarding the movement of the mattress.
Thankfully this has been resolved.

Thank you for your comments which are much appreciated to be able to improve our services to Residents and relatives in the future. As mentioned the air mattress was replaced with the memory flex foam mattress last week. In response to your comment regarding safety and security at the Home all door codes have now been changed and staff reminded that the main door should be locked after 5pm.

My sister stayed at The Polegate for a period of respite earlier this year. I have to say we could not have wished for a better home. From the moment we walked through the front door we could tell she would be safe and well cared for. The staff are kind and attentive, the food is outstanding, the home
is clean and tidy and everyone has a smile!

Overall I think this nursing home is very good. One or two early, but inevitable, problems were dealt with immediately. The food is excellent and the staff are always cheerful and helpful.

The Polegate is welcoming and friendly from the moment you enter the front door. It is clean and fresh and all the staff I have met (at all levels) are kind, caring and approachable.

The level of care provided within the home is outstanding, from general care and 1 to 1 interaction with my grandmother. I have found occasions when my grandmother has felt stressed and care staff have calmed her down. Simple things like stroking her hair and talking to her. Or, if I found Nan uncomfortable
in her bed, the care staff are very responsible in making her comfortable in a safe way and bearing in mind her dignity. Overall, the home is brilliantly run, caring and person-centred. Very impressed.

My mother's care has been good so far although there is a clear lack of staff to help straight away. This worries me as paying residents are not getting the full care they should. Ie mum is never showered, just bed washed and I go in weekly to wash her hair, cut her nails etc.

I have recently arrived from South Africa to visit my mother who has been here since February this year for the purpose of rehabilitation to walk again.
I never met the physio staff but I am impressed with the staff and nurses I have met. The rooms are amazing and the food looks super. The atmosphere
is cheerful and I think that is thanks to the wonderful caring staff. I would definitley recommend it.

I am very happy living in this home, all is good. The management is perfect, I am very happy with the activities and love it when we go out.

My visit today was very good. My relative was well and looked after very well also.
We had a lovely cup of tea and biscuits whilst talking to staff who were coming into the room. I was also asked if I would like some lunch as it was being served.
I came away very happy. The staff were very helpful.

I found the staff and management friendly and helpful. My immediate family commented on how well they were kept informed of all developments in relation to my care. The none weight bearing rehabilitation team were most supportive during my stay. On many occasions, I enjoyed sitting out in the garden
which was well maintained.

We all went in a convoy of wheelchairs, with carers pushing us, up Polegate high street to the pub for lunch.
We all had a great time and a good laugh. It was so good to be able to get out for a few hours.
The carers were so wonderful, as it was hard work pushing 7 wheelchairs.
We are all looking
forward to the next time.

The nursing home is very good indeed. I have enjoyed my stay here but I will be pleased when I can go home.

I have enjoyed my stay here and would recommend it to anyone who may need it in the future. I found the staff helpful and pleasant to get on with. We had a lovely day out to some pottery place and enjoyed every minute of it. The meals are fantastic, they are A1.
