Only a short walk from the seafront and a few minutes from the beautiful South Downs, this Art Deco style Home has been restored to its former splendour to include a purpose built extension and conservatory.

The elegant gardens are attractively landscaped and have lots of seating areas and pagodas to shelter from the sun. There is a large lounge, which is comfortably decorated for residents’ use, with lovely views of the garden.

The level of care each person receives will depend on their individual needs. This is continuously monitored and reviewed to ensure each person receives the right level of care. Please contact Barford Court for further information.

Barford Court has a very friendly atmosphere and the management and staff are all extremely helpful and friendly. Although mum has only been resident for a short while she is settling in well and seems very happy. She enjoys the meals and the regular trips out and entertainment.

The manager of Barford Court is one of the most effective we have had over 6 years. Always ready to talk and listen and supervises the running of the home and it is the manager who ensures great attention to detail is carried out. This inspires confidence in relatives like me, who have close family
living permanently at Barford Court who have challenging needs for care. Nutrition has improved recently.

Our father spent 9 months in the Henry Cottrell Unit at Barford Court and we cannot praise everyone involved highly enough. The Managers are caring and empathetic and the quality of the care staff is extremely high.


Dad was treated with compassion, kindness, respect and dignity at all times. We

always felt comfortable that he was in safe, caring hands. Between us, we spent several days, (24/7) on the Unit and can honestly say there was never anything we felt uncomfortable about.


As a family, we were treated with such kindness. The support we were given initially by the business team when applying for a place at Barford Court was second to none - at a time when dealing with local authorities and social service departments was extremely stressful.


We can only say a huge thank you to all the staff at Barford Court for making our Dad's life the best it could be under very difficult circumstances. You did him proud.

My Mother who recently passed away was a resident in the Dementia wing for nearly two years. I have spent many, many hours visiting and just being on the wing and seeing how all the carers and support staff interact with the residents. Initially, I was surprised to see that my mum actually improved
in physical and mental health within the first few months of moving to Barford Court, despite previously having had 24/7 care in her own home. The staff are kind and supportive of individual resident needs, they have a professional non-confrontational way of dealing with the different characters, that avoids potentially difficult situations from developing. I have marked Barford Court high on all of the evaluation criteria, if I had to find something negative to say to make this review more balanced I would mention that the Dementia wing is on the first floor, so you have to use the lift to get to access the garden and sadly this quality of care isn't available to everyone who needs it.

An excellent facility. Sensitive staff. Have been very happy that both my parents have been able to reside at Barford Court.
The home is very welcoming to visiting friends and relatives.
If I ever need residential care, Barford Court would be highly acceptable.

The design of the building restricts some upgrades but the care delivered to my father is outstanding. The current management team are very actively involved with the managing of the care and support both to residents and staff. I am confident the team caring for my dad respect and give him the dignity
everyone deserves at all times.

This home has a great atmosphere and is homely and comfortable. The staff are happy to help relatives and friends as well as residents and are very caring. There is generally a lively feel of the place and I get the impression the residents have a lot of fun. Recommend.
