My mother has been at Hazel Grove for a year and a half, after a long stay in hospital. Two other patients at the hospital also moved to Hazel Grove at the same time, and I have seen a very positive change in all of them. The whole team are incredibly accommodating and caring. I visited almost 30 care
homes before my mum moved here, this manager was the first manager who spoke about my mum with genuine care and consideration. She is also the only manager I came across who has a nursing background, which I believe makes a difference. My requests are always welcomed and the communication about my mum's care needs is very good. The layout of the care home is excellent, the decor updates have been really positive. I feel that my mum is safe here, this means the world to me. Thank you.

The home is run and managed to provide an exceptionally high standard of care to the residents through the diligence and commitment of the well-trained and enthusiasm of the mature staff. Very many of these staff have been employed at the home for a number of years and they display the most tender care
and concern for those to whom they are entrusted. Staff are never defensive, always cheerful, positive and open to suggestions and learn through their experience the most sensible advice and encouragement to relatives.
From management to nursing care, proving hot, nourishing meals, domestic duties, and maintenance, a most satisfactory level of care is imported.

My mother has been a resident at Hazelgrove since 2021. Her dementia has steadily progressed meaning that she is now non-verbal and needs to be hoisted whenever she's moved. This means that she requires constant care. She's unable to do anything for herself, but the staff and management at Hazelgrove
have been absolutely brilliant. She is so well cared for and always appears to be happy and smiling, unless, of course, she's sleeping, which she does do a lot!
Her room is bright and welcoming with her personal pictures and family photos on display. The room is always clean and tidy.
In the last twelve months, there has been a great deal of work carried out in the home with a much enlarged and improved communal/entertainment area which provides a great area for the residents to play games and join in activities that are organised daily.
All of the staff are caring and do their best to make Mum's life as comfortable as it can be, they have my heartfelt appreciation.

My mother is currently residing at Hazelgrove and my father was a resident as well until he passed in 2020. It was due to the excellent care that he received from everyone on the team there, that the family decided to place Mum here. The genuine care shown by the staff extends to the whole family as
well, which at times is most welcome. They really do interact constantly with residents and they all have a good knowledge of the individual needs of each resident. I believe from my observations that this is due to good training and constant interaction from the manager, who has experience and a great passion for her role.
I would not hesitate to recommend this home.

I can not recommend enough the amazing care my father received at Hazelgrove. Every single member of staff, cleaners, carers, nurses and managers were endlessly caring and compassionate. They truly care about the residents and totally understand their needs and never judge. As my father became more
unwell, they would care for his changing needs without complaint. They also made sure I was coping and this was exceptional and something I will never forget.

Our Mum was a resident in this care home for about 16 months. The manager was so helpful and caring. As was all the staff. When we visited Mum we could see she was comfortable and nursing care was good even in her last hours. There has been refurbishment and a lovely dining room for residents to sit
together. I would recommend this home.

After a very turbulent 18 months, my husband found a place at Hazelgrove. He had last-stage Alzheimer's/vascular dementia. The care he received was amazing. The staff were wonderfully led by a great nursing team. He is treated with the utmost respect even to the time when he was washed after death.
Maybe the accommodation is a bit shabby but it is the care that counts!

Hazelgrove is a loving and comfortable residence for my 80-year-old mother who has mixed dementia. She has been at Hazelgrove for a number of years. The staff are friendly and helpful. I couldn't ask for a better Nursing Home for her in these really difficult times.

My mother has been at Hazelgrove Nursing Home for over six years, and I have continued to be very satisfied with the standard of care she has received. There is strong leadership and good staff retention. If I phone, the nursing staff know who I am and always know how my mother is without having to
look up notes or information. I know if there are any issues, they will always phone me, and I find the staff helpful and very caring of their residents. I am very happy with the care she is receiving.

We have decided to take my wife to the UK from a care home in Spain to Hazelgrove Nursing Home in Brighton after having had not-so-good care and attention from staff there which lacked experience in dealing with dementia patients. We have seen the care and attention given to my wife and other patients
at Hazelgrove and she has been looked after by the carers and nurses and it is well managed by a caring knowledgeable and experienced manager. We are very pleased with the care and attention given to my wife. Thank you.

The staff at Hazelgrove always keep me up-to-date with any medical attention my mum needs. I'd recommend for friends/family of potential residents to consider Hazelgrove as it has a nice

My mum was a resident here from February 2021 and sadly passed away in October. During her stay, I found the care provided to be excellent and very caring to both my mum and myself. I was kept informed of any changes to my mum's health and sadly I wasn't able to be there when she passed away but one
of the staff sat with her so I'm pleased that she wasn't alone.
The staff were kind and considerate at all times and my mum was very happy to be there.

Mother was moved to Hazelgrove as her needs changed and because of Covid and the distance where we live, we were not able to visit mum until very recently. The home is fresh and clean and the staff are so helpful, Mother is content and very well looked after, any time I have contacted them to know how
she was doing the staff always have enough time to give me a complete rundown on how mum is. Mum can be a character! Yes we are very pleased, lovely place and a comfort that in her twilight years (95)...she is being well cared for.

My relative has been at the home for two years and I can't praise the management and staff enough for the kindness and care he has received. He was very distressed when he first arrived because of a very unpleasant stay in another nursing home but through the support, compassion and patience he has
received, has become very happy and relaxed. The food is good, as are the activities, which include regular visits by singers, which are well received. The home is perfectly laid out on one level, with an inner courtyard garden, easily accessible to all. I am kept up to date on any issues and communication is good. I have peace of mind that my loved one is very well looked after and in a safe, happy and caring environment. I would totally recommend the home to anyone looking for a good nursing home, knowing how daunting the process is.

Hazelgrove is a relatively modern home situated in a quiet area on the edge of Brighton. It has the advantage of being single-storey and has an inner courtyard which can be used safely by residents in the summer months. They almost all suffer from profound Dementia and are very demanding on the patience
and professional expertise of the care staff who rise to the demand with care and compassion. Activities are provided daily to stimulate the residents. Visits from local school children and from professional entertainers are a highlight. Nursing staff are always present and accessible to visitors. Like the care staff, they too are well acquainted with the needs of individual residents (eg diet, medication). Emergencies (eg hospital admissions) appear to be dealt with efficiently and effectively. The home is kept spotlessly clean and overall management supervision is good.

We "the family", find all the staff very friendly to residents and visitors. We go 4/5 times weekly at various times during the day and have never seen any staff member being abusive or unattentive of any resident. The building is kept in good maintenance even if it is old and decor dated it is still
bright, very clean, activities are in place and singers regularly bought in to entertain, also residents birthdays, special days are remembered with tea party and birthday cake, as are Xmas and even pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. Overall a very homely and safe care home. Well done.

This is the ideal place for my husband who has Lewy Body Dementia. It has a lovely "homely" atmosphere. There is plenty of staff who are extremely patient with the residents and very caring. The food is excellent. Activities to help the time pass. Individual bedrooms. This home stood out as the ideal
place for my husband against the others I visited. It also invited me to come anytime to look around - others needed you to make an appointment. I would certainly recommend this nursing home.

15 months ago my father and I had to face the heart-wrenching decision that my mother’s dementia could no longer be managed at home. After a disastrous experience in another nursing home, we are both relieved and grateful she now resides at Hazelgrove. We have found all of the staff to be very welcoming
and friendly. The management have created a calm dementia-friendly environment where dementia behaviour is understood and the residents are always professionally cared for with compassion, kindness and dignity. Although wishing things were different, we have both stopped worrying about her now, because we know she is safe and being well looked after. The staff are lovely to her and she can be challenging.
