The Pines Care Home supported my father with care and consideration. He moved, aged 96, in March, following a fall and broken hip, and also with lung cancer, after determinedly living independently in his own flat. Although he recognised the need for greater care and support this was a major change,
and the staff could not have been more caring in helping him make the transition. They went out of their way to help him maintain links with his family through video and phone calls, encouraged his hobbies and interests, and provided both psychological support and practical care that maintained as far as possible his dignity, integrity and independence. As he required terminal care my father was well supported and looked after, and the team kept us in close touch with his condition and mood. They managed his death and our visits (including our dog!) with sensitivity. We are extremely grateful that he was cared for at The Pines and thank them for their professional and caring approach.

My mum came to The Pines Care Home for what we thought would be a short stay, as she had been in hospital and was very poorly and needed 24-hour care. She stayed 14 months. In that time she was excellently cared for by the wonderful staff. They are all so friendly, helpful, dedicated and most of all,
caring. I can’t thank them enough for looking after my mum during these difficult times and I would highly recommend The Pines to anyone. They were brilliant. Thank you so much.

I cannot recommend this wonderful care home enough. The kindness, consideration, and dignity shown to their residents is remarkable. I've never felt so welcomed, respected, and looked after by a care home. My grandfather, who recently passed, came to The Pines in a very vulnerable position and they
showed the utmost compassion and support to him right up until the end of his life. He lost his sparkle for a while, but the team at the Pines brought him back to us at a time where the world was a scary place. Each staff member we encountered made a huge difference to his life in such a positive way and you can truly see how much they care both as people and professionals. A wonderful, dedicated, respectful establishment that should be recognized for its amazing qualities, facilities, and staff! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, always!

The residents are always happy, clean and healthy. The staff are amazing! They care extremely well, and there are always activities, well planned out and appropriate to each client's needs. The home is always spotless and well-staffed. The care here is above and beyond what I expected to find, and they
provide a wonderful home.

Mum has been a resident at The Pines in Hove for several years now. She became a resident following the death of my Dad when she needed minimal care, and initially was very capable and fairly fit, and only a little forgetful, requiring support only with some medication. She went for daily walks around
the adjacent park and enjoyed many pastimes and hobbies, joining in group activities when she felt like it, but always enjoying the varied meals and company of the youthful, energetic staff.
Mum is now 94, and in the intervening years, has experienced many health changes and a few hospitalisations. She has received excellent care throughout, which has adapted to meet her changing needs. She now requires full personal care and has benefited from the skilful nursing care and medication being administered as necessary. The activities staff do an amazing job. I can't thank the manager and staff enough for their dedication and care, especially during the pandemic with its many challenges.

Our father has been at The Pines for almost 4 years, and he has been generally very happy during his time at the home. In fact, in a lot of ways, it has given him a new lease of life! He really enjoys all the activities that are on offer and also spending time with the other residents and the staff.

My husband has spent several respite periods in The Pines over the last four years and is now a permanent resident as unfortunately, I am unable to care for him at home. Each time he has returned, he has received a warm, friendly welcome from the staff, many of whom were working there then he first
went in. It is good to see the same people on a regular basis and makes it more like home for him. I would certainly recommend The Pines to anyone looking for a long-term home for a family member.

My sister was in The Pines Nursing Home in Hove. I was very pleased with the care she received from all the staff. They were all very friendly, helpful and caring. This is probably the best nursing home in Brighton and Hove and I would recommend it to anyone in this area who have such needs. Thank you

Mum lived in The Pines for over 10 years and was very well cared for during her stay and particularly during more recent years when she started to decline and became more and more dependent on her carers. She was given genuine wonderful care and understanding of her needs and deterioration mentally
and physically. The staff also provided great support to myself and my sisters with sympathy and understanding which was much appreciated and helped us so much. The Pines staff build a lovely community with social events, outings and activities and ensure all who want to participate can, even when mum could not use her hands to paint since her retirement she had been an avid painter, they helped her carry on her hobby by helping her to ‘paint by mouth’ with lovely results.

In 2017 my 92-year-old Father needed Nursing Home care. My Mother (also 92) did not want to be separated from my Father. In April 2017 they were both admitted to The Pines Nursing Home in Hove, East Sussex. My father passed away in June 2020.
During the three years my parents were cared for at the
Pines, I have nothing but the highest regard for the Home. The Management and Staff were all very kind and comforting and showed great professionalism at all times.

My mum had spent 4 weeks in the hospice when it was suggested that mum be moved to a nursing home as her illness had slowed down. The Pines was recommended by the staff at the hospice with whom we had the utmost trust.
What I remember most was the smiling welcome by the front of house and the staff
who were to take care of mum.
The Pines does not feel like a care home, no wing back chairs but a bright and airy conservatory and lounge.
There are activities most days for the residents. Unfortunately mum was not well enough to participate with other residents so the Activity staff went to mum in her room.
Cd19 came along while mum was a resident and we were no longer able to see her on a daily basis.
The manager and his team realised mums 80th birthday needed to be celebrated and we were allowed to see her with PPE. When mum deteriorated the manager called myself and sister in to see her for one last time.
The manager and his staff ensured mum was well looked after and in the end a dignified death.

The Pines is a lovely nursing home where my mother-in-law has been for the past 14 months (unexpectedly long!). We have experience of several different homes in the area, and The Pines is by far the most friendly and welcoming. The staff are unfailingly smiley and helpful and are never too busy to answer
questions or help. There are tons of activities and everyone is encouraged to join in. They seem to really care about the residents in their care.
I recommend them highly.

My mother received excellent care during her time at The Pines. She, and all the family, were welcomed and treated with respect by everyone. The staff were friendly and caring and the atmosphere throughout was warm and homely. At the end of her life she was treated with great kindness and we, her family,
were given all necessary support and advice. Her death was calm and dignified and her privacy was respected just as she would've wanted. I am immensely grateful to the staff for this.

Words cannot adequately express how grateful our family is for the kind, compassionate and dedicated care given to our mother by the whole team at The Pines. The ambience at The Pines is wonderful and the team somehow manage to maintain a calm, professional and happy atmosphere under difficult circumstances.
Our mother was treated with patience and kindness during her seven-week stay and was allowed peace and dignity during her final hours. For that, her family will be forever thankful. I can recommend this clean and pleasant care home unreservedly.

My mother-in-law stayed here for 12 weeks respite while we had her flat adapted and I can't thank the staff and management enough for her exceptional treatment and care. My mother-in-law's health has been declining and when we admitted her to The Pines for respite she was very unhappy and not willing
to participate in anything. After her first weeks stay she was like a different person and more like the woman she was. She really enjoyed the social aspect of the home and joined in the daily activities, it was so great to see her out of bed and having fun. She especially enjoyed the resident dogs at the home!
The nursing care given to her has given her a new lease of life and she did not want to return home at the end of her stay, we felt so at ease knowing she was being so well cared for and if the need arises for her to come to a nursing home on a permanent basis the pines will definitely be the one we choose.

I was hesitant to move into The Pines Nursing Home as anyone older would be and also coping with being poorly. I found that very soon, the warm and concern of the Carers was supportive and keen to help you relax. The atmosphere is positive and of course, there are human errors occasionally, that all
put right as soon as possible.
Food is an important item option in all care and The Pines staff do adapt and I think care homes should changes their suppliers occasionally for stimulation. Very good altogether.
