Country Lodge Nursing Home is a privately run care home on the edge of Worthing, West Sussex. They offer care to older residents whose needs include medical, physical, terminal illness, respite and convalescence care.

They have a team of highly qualified, experienced nursing and care staff who, together with the auxiliary staff, are committed to providing the best possible care for their residents.

Their small size means that staff and residents really get to know one another and create a homely, community feel. With a delightful garden and stunning views over the South Downs and Sussex countryside, their philosophy is to give residents the best possible quality of life while promoting their independence, privacy and dignity.

All bedrooms are charmingly decorated to a high standard and have electric profiling beds, a nurse call system, a flat screen television and telephone. Residents are encouraged to bring in their own furniture if they wish as well as personal effects to truly make their room a home from home.

Country Lodge pride themselves on their delicious home cooked meals. They often use home grown food, and if it not home grown, it is locally sourced and produced. Because of this, they cook seasonal meals that are chosen by the residents.

Country Lodge is also accredited with the Investor in People Award representing excellent and regular training. In March 2022 they were proud to receive a rating of "Good" by the CQC.

The entire team at Country Lodge Nursing Home has been helpful, caring and kind at every level. They have looked after my mother with great care and kindness. When we need to visit nothing has been too much trouble, the entire environment is clean, vibrant and cheerful. It is a lovely place for our

My mum has been living in this home for just over a year now. As a family, we couldn't be more pleased that Mum is living here and being so expertly cared for. We have found all the staff, clinical and non-clinical, to be friendly, caring and trustworthy. Not only do they care for Mum but they also
care for the family and their needs and concerns especially during this very difficult time for all. Couldn't wish for a better home.

This was my first experience of a stay in a nursing home and I was very happy during my stay there. Unfortunately, on the second day I was taken ill - the male charge nurse at the home was extremely efficient and called the ambulance very quickly. Fortunately, I was not kept in and the rest of my stay
at Country Lodge Nursing Home was excellent. I would certainly stay there again if the need arises.

Country Lodge Nursing Home is an extremely nice care home. The staff I have met are great. My 95-year-old mum has never complained about anything during her time there. I have visited the home as a volunteer photographer and was really struck by the warm welcome I received from the manager, the staff and the residents!
We had a wonderful garden party with a homemade spread and live jazz music.
Photographing several bedrooms, I was really impressed with the welcoming
and homely decor, the cleanliness and the brightness of each room. It is a peaceful and joyful place where staff really care.

Our mum has been at Country Lodge for just over a year now. From the moment we visited the home we were really impressed by the warm, welcoming atmosphere and the overall cleanliness. Also the friendliness of all staff to visitors but, more importantly, the residents. Mum is very impressed with the
food and she is a tough cookie to please! A huge effort is always made to celebrate birthdays and other occasions, a recent Bonfire Buffet and firework display were really enjoyed by all. The owners and staff really go that extra mile to make all events really special. Mum enjoys the wide range of activities offered each week. As there is a very low turnover of staff their interaction with all the residents is very personal, building a special bond. This has been really appreciated in these past few months, with the issues of Covid, where our personal contact has been severely limited. It's been a huge comfort to us knowing that Mum is being well looked after by such kind, caring people.

Mum is always very comfortable with great attention to detail from the staff. Management is effective and professional. The food is excellent.

Coming out of lockdown, I have been impressed with the new visiting scheme.
My mother was treated to some flowers, a card and a magnificent homemade cake on her birthday.
Nothing appears to be too much trouble.
I recently lost my father-in-law in the home, I can only praise the staff.

My mother has been a resident at Country Lodge since April 2017. We selected it after viewing many homes, and the standards here are superb, from personal care to the wonderful staff that look after my mother. Their kindness to her is lovely since being a dementia sufferer she can be quite difficult.
Nothing seems to be too much trouble.
The food there is carefully adapted to the appetite and likes of each resident, even down to whether they like carrots mashed. The cleanliness is very good, and there is never the ‘smell’ that you get in some homes masked by air freshener.
I cannot praise it highly enough. You treat all the residents with kindness and dignity. Well done to you all there.

My mother entered Country Lodge for end of life care after I visited three nursing homes in the area. From the moment I walked in, the staff impressed me with their knowledge, compassion, and expertise. The location is also beautiful. I cannot recommend the home highly enough, even caring for me with
tea, coffee, food, and showers whilst I was with Mum in her final days. Thank you to everyone.

My wife has terminal cancer and requires palliative nursing care round the clock. The provision of various medications has been overseen by our local GP and administered professionally by the senior staff. All the staff have been friendly and welcoming and make your visit as pleasant as possible. The
nursing home have also been very accommodating to our several visitors and in enabling me to stay overnight. From what I have seen this is a very well run establishment.

My sister received excellent palliative care at Country Lodge. The dedicated and caring staff there are wonderful. The kindness and patience she was shown by everyone was exemplary, nothing was too much trouble. Everything was done with a smile and a friendly word. Country Lodge has a warm and cosy
feel to it which you notice as soon as you set foot in the door. Every resident is treated as an individual and the care is first class. The food is also very good and any special dietary requirements are catered for. In August, a garden party was held for residents and their friends and families in the beautiful gardens, which are immaculate. It was such a memorable afternoon. The owners and staff went out of their way to make sure we all joined in and had a good time especially with the singer who sang old songs, which many of the residents could remember. I had complete peace of mind knowing my sister was safe and comfortable, pain-free and well looked after. She was very happy there.

Country Lodge is a lovely nursing home providing excellent care and support to residents with many variable needs and also their families if necessary. The residents are treated with the utmost sensitive care and dignity. The atmosphere at the lodge is always friendly, warm and welcoming. Nothing is
too much trouble. There are new owners at Country Lodge and they seem to be embracing the challenge of continuing in the same most caring way providing a wonderful service of later life care.

My mother spent almost 7 months at Country Lodge Nursing Home before she died earlier this year and myself and my sisters thought it was a lovely place. The staff were so caring and friendly to us and Mum - even though Mum had dementia at that stage, they'd chat with her and go along with what she was
saying. They always called her by her first name and when they came into tend to her, they would explain what they were going to do so she was aware.


There are activities - a weekly quiz, monthly singing/dancing, Christmas activities, etc. Mum did join in with the quizzes, as well as the singing. At Christmas, the nursing home provides presents for everyone and they all sat around the tree to get them. They didn't all receive the same present - thought had gone into each person's gift to cater for their likes and requirements. Everyone then had lunch in the dining room.


The views were fantastic and the garden was lovely to sit in. The food was good and we could join for meals if we wanted.

Country Lodge is a lovely nursing home which looked after my dad very well for 6 months following an operation. I only moved him because he needed to be in a care home with my mum elsewhere.


The location is lovely - in the foothills of the South Downs. The view from the lounge is stunning. The gardens

are large and well tended.


The staff are welcoming and friendly and many of them struck up a warm relationship with my dad.


The husband-and-wife owners are often in the home, working and they are always happy to have a chat and pass the time of day. So it's not run by a faceless company.


All in all, I have been very happy with Country Lodge and recommend it.

Country Lodge provided my elderly mother with excellent care during the nine months she spent there. From the start she loved her newly decorated garden room and was very appreciative of the kindness and support provided by all members of staff.
I and the rest of Mum's family are very grateful that
she could spend the last months of her life in such a caring environment. Not only did Mum receive such good care, but during family visits, we were always welcomed with a warm greeting and friendly smile.

The Country Lodge Nursing Home is a little slice of paradise for the elderly. My father was looked after with tender care and humour.
I used to look forward to visiting him not just to see him but all the staff and residents! My father had a wonderful room that looked out onto a beautifully landscaped
garden. The food was amazing. My (fussy) father would look forward with relish to all mealtimes! Everyone who worked at Country Lodge went that extra mile to make all residents and relatives feel welcome. I wholly recommend this lovely place to anyone looking for a ‘home from home’ for their parents.

Debbie Spokes is The Registered Manager at Country Lodge Nursing Home.


Hello, I am Debbie Spokes, the Registered Manager here at Country Lodge since 2004. I have been a nurse for 35+ years, working in the NHS, before moving to the private sector. Delivering exemplary care and creating a 'home from home' environment has always remained my highest priority. I am very proud of our wonderful team, built over many years and have never stopped enjoying making a difference in people's lives.
