Rectory House is a beautifully preserved building with a Georgian style frontage and inviting driveway lined with oak, pine and chestnut trees. Located in Sompting, with a warm family atmosphere, highly trained staff are available to get to know residents individually offering the highest standards of residential, nursing and palliative care on a permanent and short stay basis.

The main part of the house was built in 1785, but the original part of the building dates back to the 1580s. The house has been refurbished but still retains the gracious features of the past - high ceilings and attractive ornate cornices. The two-acre mature landscaped gardens are perfect for residents to either relax or convalesce.

The main aspect of the house faces South with all of the rooms having ensuite facilities and emergency nurse-call systems. Residents can also bring items of personal furniture, mementos and other treasures - all helping them to feel that Rectory House is their real 'Home from Home.' There are two beautifully appointed lounges where residents can relax, read a book or socialise. The conservatory with views over the garden is another place where residents can enjoy quiet moments.

Caring and qualified staff are on hand 24 hours a day ensuring that all residents' needs are catered for.

Overall, I visit my mother about 2-3 times a week. She is happy, warm, comfortable and content. I like that we as a family can interact with anything that goes on, eg: Elvis visits or the singing duo. I am always made to feel very welcome, also listened to.
There are a lot of changes going on at the
moment due to home take over, I hope that more staff can be appointed and not have to have many agency staff as we all like continuity.
But I would 100% tell people this home is the very best.

I have been so impressed with the care and compassion shown towards my father during a very difficult time for our family. We found the experience of accessing appropriate nursing care for Dad emotionally stressful and the staff (management and care staff alike) were so helpful and supportive during
the whole process.
I strongly feel that the staff at Rectory House are doing the best for my father and putting him at the centre of decision-making, and that has helped him, my mum and the wider family.

As a carer for my grandmother, I have/had high standards when it came to relocating her from her initial care home.
I am nothing but delighted that she came to Rectory. The staff are wonderful with her. Before, in her other care home, she was disengaged, lonely and left on her own most of the day.
At Rectory House, Grandma has always got staff popping in and out, they come in and talk to her, including her and making her feel like family. The food is good will a well-balanced nutritional diet.
The activities team are great at catering for those that want entertainment. I believe some improvement can be made to the activities offered, but they are on that already.
There have been a few issues that we have experienced since the move here in 2022, but the management are very keen to iron out any issues and come up with solutions to avoid these things happening again. It's not always about the problem, it's about how it's learnt from to avoid the same re-occurring. Thank you so much.

I love the care staff, and they always come in to see me and make me laugh. The new manager is very nice. I love the food, and the cook comes in to ask us if we want something on the menu.

My wife and I are devoted friends to a lady, one of your residents. We visit her frequently from Southampton and are her Attorneys for her health and finance affairs. We have been very happy with the standard of care that she has received in the over six-year period that she has been at Rectory House.
However, we feel that just lately, the staff and assistant manager have excelled themselves in the quality and attention that she is receiving. They have made a decision to put her on a soft diet, as she is having difficulty swallowing, and recently got her GP involved in preparation for end-of-life care. The assistant manager has been particularly attentive and is keeping us informed as well as encouraging the duty nurse of the day to do likewise.
So my wife and I commend and nominate your assistant manager for promotion to the vacancy as Rectory House manager. We believe she has shown immense skill both medically and in her caring attitude towards residents and staff alike. We know that she is wrestling with the idea and hope that she will apply shortly. She has earnt it, and she deserves it. We wish her every success.

My dad has been quite poorly and the staff at Rectory House Nursing Home have been outstanding in their support of dad. He loves the food and is enjoying chatting to everyone. Staff are always welcoming, and dad loves his room too.

Mum is always treated with respect and dignity by the home and overall her care is good. I would like to be involved more in decisions about her care plan. I have said I wanted to have input but haven’t been contacted to do so. The outstanding maintenance issues remain and I’m a bit sad that I made
mum a lovely cheerful picture last year and it still hasn’t been put on her wall for her to enjoy. Staff communicate well with me about any health issues. I haven’t been able to visit due to Covid but when I do it is well managed. I appreciate being able to video call her every week and staff are great at facilitating this.

Mum has been in care for 5-years now. She has been well looked after for all this time at Rectory House Nursing Home after a serious fall at 95-years old. We are contacted regularly by staff about her care and condition during these difficult past 2-years for everyone.

My parents did not want to go into a care home, however due to age and infirmity (my father is over 100, partially sighted and a little deaf) and my mother is not much younger, it was necessary as they could no longer manage in their own home. Staff were there to help them through this difficult transition
and my mother particularly appreciated visits from the dog.
While visiting has been difficult during Covid I felt confident that my parents were in a safe environment and being looked after by caring staff. When they first moved in, staff were there to help them use their mobile phone so we could stay in contact.
The nursing, management and reception staff have been excellent and have gone out of their way to provide my parents with the support and care they require and also to keep me informed on what was happening to them.

I've always felt uncomfortable with the idea of care and nursing homes, not because I expect them to be bad, but because there are so many people requiring help or care at any one time, and after seeing how easy it is to be overlooked in hospital (where the care is excellent but the staff levels are
so low that there's only so much they can do). I was very afraid that Nan being in a nursing home would only make her unhappy and more vulnerable to the issues that meant she couldn't live alone in the first place. Rectory House has completely changed my viewpoint.
In hospital, I often left in tears, the staff were all wonderful but there was so few of them and Nan always seemed so unhappy and so at risk somehow, but now when I leave Nan's room (where she's comfortable, cheerful and has people keeping a constant friendly eye on her) I almost skip out the door, I'm so grateful, content and secure in her level of care and happiness.

My mum did not want to enter a care home but had no choice. The staff were very welcoming and encouraged us to make her room homely. They treated her with dignity and respect and took the time to get to know her and her family. I really cannot recommend Rectory House highly enough.

Very friendly and you don't have to keep to your room all day. I go to the hairdresser and have my nails painted every week. The staff are great and every afternoon there are activities which help me a lot.
