Only a short distance from historic East Grinstead’s town centre, Brendoncare Stildon care home comprises a 32 bedroom care home and 11 adjoining extra care apartments. Residents can either stay on a permanent basis or on short term respite care after an illness, operation or when regular carers are away.

High quality nursing care is provided at the care home, which prides itself on ensuring that every resident receives personalised, dignified care. There's a friendly, family atmosphere throughout the care home. Its wellbeing team ensures there is always something interesting going on for those who wish to join in. Activities include seated exercise, music and movement, baking and gardening - all tailored to residents' individual interests.

Its restful, attractive gardens have seating areas which are perfect for spending quiet time with loved ones.

The home is very proud to maintain a 5-star food hygiene rating from the Food Standards Agency (January 2023) and the kitchen staff talk to residents to ensure their needs are always met. These could be dietary, allergy, religious or specific likes and dislikes.

The extra care apartments enable older people to live independently, knowing that care is close at hand 24/7 whenever they need it.

All permanent residents are eligible for Brendoncare's Care for Life. This ensures that once welcomed into the care home, they will not be asked to leave other than in exceptional circumstances.

My Mum has been a resident at Stildon for well over a year. When she arrived she was very frail, could hardly walk and was very down and sad. With the support and care from the nurses and carers she has gained weight, is able to walk really well and is very happy and content with her life at Stildon.
It makes me so happy that my Mum is safe and being well looked after. She enjoys all the activities and looks forward to meal times when she eats with all the other residents and enjoys conversations with them.

When we were reviewing nursing homes for my mum, we were told by the nursing home manager, "We may not have a red carpet, but we offer red carpet service". Never was there a truer word spoken. A warm and relaxed atmosphere where the nursing staff are patient, courteous and go above and beyond. The care
home took the time to get to know Mum's interests, likes and dislikes to make her stay much more enjoyable. My mum resided here for thirteen months and during that time we knew she was safe, secure and treated with respect. Seeing her eyes light up when she heard a nurse's voice at the door or hearing the laughter coming from her room when we turned the corner, means so much when you have had to make that decision for a 'hotel with help' for your mum. When the weather permits, the outdoor garden is a great meeting place. Mum loved it there, so thank you team Brendoncare, keep up the amazing work! The song simply the best, sums up Brendoncare, Stildon.

This is a beautiful care home run by kind and caring people and when my mum became ill earlier this year, we knew it was the right choice, as it had been for my grandmother in 2010. An amazing care home where the staff go above and beyond to make their residents feel at home. My father resided here for six months and the care he was given was outstanding. We, as a family were kept up to date and made to feel very welcome. My father was really happy here.

My dad was only at Stildon for a few months until he sadly passed away. The staff were absolutely fantastic. So caring and happy. My dad’s stay at Stildon was relatively short, but while he was there I was very happy with the care he received. The staff showed him care, respect and kindness, were always available to answer our questions and keen to know more about him, so that they could communicate with him about his life. His
room, which was newly decorated, was comfortable and always clean. The food always looked tasty and I remember sharing a very good chocolate cake with him. Sadly Dad passed away, but the staff all treated him with dignity and respect during that time and also had time for me. I am very grateful that his final months were spent at Stildon, as all the staff make it a very kind and happy place.

I can't fault the willingness of all the staff at Stildon to please. The residents and visitors are always treated with respect, dignity and a good shovelful of kindness. The building is well designed with the nurse's stations and services in the centre of a "roundabout" of rooms over two floors. No
one room is cut-off in this scenario and all staff, from the bottom to the top, were always passing Mum's door to smile, wave and generally keep an eye on her. My mum was infirm and suffering from dementia. She went into Stildon three years ago. I was worried about admitting her, but she was made so very welcome and had a lovely room with a door into a garden, that she quickly told me "I like it here". At first, she was well enough to spend time in the communal areas which she loved. As her health failed, she needed more nursing care which I found to be exemplary. Sadly, she has passed away now but that aspect of her residency was handled with the utmost respect and kindness for us both too.

I am so thankful I picked Stildon for my 92-year-old mum to recover from another fall and resulting operation on her leg. She ended up staying 2 months. So many of the staff were so caring, so kind and so helpful to me as well as Mum. Efficient yet so friendly. It was like a home from home! Can’t recommend
it enough! Lovely atmosphere, brilliant staff including nurses, office staff, reception, carers, cleaners, laundry staff, repairmen, it was every level of staff and of course, the manager who is lovely, so caring, understanding and patient. If Mum ever needs to stay anywhere again. I would definitely choose Stildon again.

I can't praise Stildon and its staff enough. My mum was taken into their care for the last few weeks of her life following her fight with cancer. They could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, and I know that my mum was getting the best care possible. Mum passed a few days ago,
very peacefully and treated with utmost dignity. The team at Stildon were wonderful, even helping to sort out some issues with our GP surgery (who are grossly incompetent). There is no doubt that mum was in the right place, and my eternal thanks go to the manager and her team.

My aunt who has just turned 100, moved to Stildon in December 2019. We were really apprehensive when looking for a nursing home. I cannot praise Stildon and its staff highly enough. The management and staff are warm, caring and efficient. They are very attentive to her needs. Communication with us

In all cases for my husband, we find he is well catered for in care nursing and respect. My mother arrived at Stildon a few months ago, not an ideal time to arrive in a nursing home for the first time with Covid all around and limitations around visiting, but the home has kept us fully informed on everything that is happening at all times. We look forward to better times in the coming year.
The staff are caring, and Mum seems very happy, albeit a little confused at times about the lack of us being able to visit. It is a very friendly environment.

The best thing about this home is the staff who are very competent and friendly. The rooms are nice and when my aunt first moved in we were allowed to bring a couple of pictures to put on the wall to personalise it a bit. They always keep us up to date with news of my aunt and are welcoming when we

My 94-year-old mother went into Stildon, East Grinstead in mid-October 2020 after 3 falls in her flat. Initially, she went in for respite but is now residing as a permanent resident.
I have found all of the staff extremely polite and kind and it would seem nothing is too much trouble for them.
The
management team have also been very kind and from my perspective put the needs of the resident above every other consideration.
I have found the whole team (management and staff) to be very understanding, responding to emails, phone calls and visits in a very timely, friendly and considerate manner. I can't thank them enough for that attention to detail and customer service.
My mother was not initially very content to stay in Stildon (nobody likes change) but it is a credit to the staff that she is now very happy where she is. She is liked by the staff who care for her, but she also likes them very much.
Well done Stildon and thanks for your help during this difficult period.

Stildon has definitely been the right choice for my mum's care. The staff are very kind and try to cater to her particular likes and dislikes. Although I am aware that activities are available to residents, Mum has never enjoyed 'organised fun' and her wishes are respected. It has been a difficult time
for all care homes but throughout Mum's time as a resident, I have remained confident that Stildon does everything it can to keep her safe. In my experience, sometimes communication and organisation are not quite as efficient as they could be, although this may be due to the additional burden of dealing with and adapting to new regimes in the light of the Covid pandemic. Having said that, if I had to choose between a kind and caring home or a highly efficient one, I'd opt for the former every time. Thank you to all the staff for the tremendous work they do.

I have almost 20 years of experience in the care sector, starting out as a support worker and progressing to Registered Manager. I bring a wealth of hands-on expertise and leadership to Brendoncare Stildon. My journey has been driven by a deep commitment to delivering exceptional person-centred care, fostering team development and ensuring residents live with dignity and purpose.


Having managed diverse services including nursing homes, supported living and reablement services, I am passionate about embracing innovative care practices while maintaining the values at the heart of Brendoncare. I strive to create a warm, welcoming environment where both residents and staff feel valued and supported.


Outside of work, I enjoy staying active through regular gym sessions and bike rides, which help me maintain focus and energy in my professional life. I am thrilled to join the Brendoncare community and look forward to building on its reputation of excellent care.

I have been working in care for the last 20yrs. Initially I joined Brendoncare having been recruited from South Africa in 2004. I worked as registered nurse and later as team leader until 2010 when I left to became a registered manager of a Care Home in Crowborough, East Sussex.


In December 2021, I rejoined Brendoncare Stildon as deputy manager as I knew the home to be very homely and friendly. People here go out of their way to help and support residents, relatives and colleagues.

I joined Stildon in June 2022 as the Receptionist and moved to the Administrator role in 2023, this is my first experience of working in a nursing home and I love the relationships that we have as a team with both the residents and relatives.


Working for a charity and answering to trustees rather than shareholders means that decisions are made with the residents’ best interests at heart. Sharing our Care for Life promise with prospective residents and families puts them at ease and they can relax knowing that their loved one will get the best of care for the rest of their life.

It was a total change to my working career as I’d only known the inside of an office before, so to be put at the forefront of the home meeting and greeting all our visitors has been a great change. If I’d have known what a positive step this was going to be I would have done it sooner.


I’ve been married for 45 years and have two grown up children, and 5 grandchildren. We love spending time as a family creating memories - going on beach outings, holiday’s abroad, cinema and bowling to name but a few. My husband I also enjoy going to the theatre and football, be it premiership or the supporting the local town team.

Prior to joining Brendoncare, I worked as a legal PA for several years in London. I later worked in a similar Activities role in Tonbridge Wells but wanted to work closer to home. I joined Brendoncare in August 2023. I can honestly say that, compared to the office-based roles I’ve had (as interesting as they were), this is the best job I’ve had as it’s more person-centred and I much prefer to be working with people rather than paper!


In my spare time, I get involved in amateur dramatics including doing panto. I also enjoy dancing and practice yoga and Pilates.
