My father has been a resident in this nursing home since June 2024. Initially, we were not happy with his care, feeling that (A) there were inadequate staff. (B) He was not cared for well. (C) Records on his falls were not recorded correctly.
However, we have been pleasantly surprised by his quality
of care now. The home itself seems calmer and more controlled. The staff appear less stressed and there are more. My father seems content and happy and his appearance and demeanour have improved. Overall, we are happy with the changes we see.

Reply from Anna Whiteside, Manager at Burlington Nursing & Residential Home

Ensuring the safety, comfort, and happiness of our residents is our top priority, and we continuously work on improving our services. It's heartening to know that you now find the environment calmer, the staff more attentive, and your father happier and more comfortable. My nan has lived at Burlington Nursing & Residential Home for over a year and we are incredibly happy with the care she receives. Since the new management took over, the home has really improved.
The carers are kind, engaged and know how to care for each resident as an individual. They make us feel
welcome in our visits and there is always someone to chat to should you have any concerns about your relative.
When my nan has been unwell, the nursing team have been quick to act and keep us well informed.
They also care about ensuring my nan has company and know her needs inside out. The activities have also really improved over the year and we enjoy seeing updates posted to social media of what she has been up to! The activity coordinator is fantastic and very caring.
It isn't an easy decision to put your relative into care however Burlington has made this easier by their kind approach and family feel to the home. My nan is very happy here!

Top team, they are always smiling, great standard of care is given to my mother, she feels safe and trusts the team. The only negative is because they are giving such a great level of care to the residents, they can be a bit slow opening the door!

Reply from Anna Whiteside, Manager at Burlington Nursing & Residential Home

Dear Darren, thank you so much for your lovely feedback! We're thrilled to hear that your mother feels safe and well cared for and that our team's warmth and dedication are making a positive impact. Your kind words mean a lot to us. We appreciate your understanding regarding the door delay. It's a reflection of our commitment to prioritising the care and safety of our residents. That said, we'll look into ways to improve responsiveness without compromising the quality of care. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts!

Burlington Nursing & Residential Home is a nursing home that I am happy and relaxed to leave my son in their care, knowing he is safe and well and happy.
The staff are well-trained and caring and I couldn't ask for more.
This is the first year I was happy to leave him at Christmas as I know he will
be well looked after on all fronts.
A massive thanks to all who work there.
Merry Christmas.

Since arriving at Burlington Nursing & Residential Home, Mum has received a wonderful welcome and attentive care. It inevitably took a little while for Mum to become accustomed to her new home and particularly, the loss of independence that came with it. However, in the short time since Mum arrived,
it has been very apparent that the manager sets the tone and it is a very positive, collaborative one in which Mum's care is openly discussed and we feel part of the team ensuring Mum has her needs fully catered for. The wider team at Burlington could not have done more to make her feel at home, encouraging her to decorate her room with personal items and to make that space her own. Importantly, the medical and nursing care has been exemplary and there is always a willingness to accommodate Mum's particular needs, such as getting to church or trips out to the shops when the weather permits. Burlington is a super place where Mum is safe, comfortable and increasingly happy as she continues to settle in.

Reply from Anna Whiteside, Home Manager at Burlington Nursing & Residential Home

Dear Andrew, thank you so much for your thoughtful and kind feedback. It's heartwarming to hear how well your mum has settled in at Burlington and that she feels safe, comfortable and increasingly happy. We understand how challenging the transition can be and it's wonderful to know that our team's efforts to create a welcoming and collaborative environment have made a positive difference. We are particularly glad that you feel involved in the care process and that your mum's individual needs, from personalising her space to maintaining her routine with church visits and outings, are being met. Our priority is always to provide attentive, compassionate and personalised care, so it means a lot to hear this has been your experience. Thank you again for your kind words - they truly motivate our team to continue providing the best possible care.

My dad is so happy at Burlington Nursing & Residential Home, I could not wish for a better place for him. Since the new manager has taken over the home, the improvement has gone from a 5 to 10 out of 10 plus in all aspects. The food is so good and my dad, albeit he has dementia and was a very fussy
eater, absolutely eats everything now. The staff are very welcoming, polite and caring to all residents and family who visit. I hope all this continues for the future.

I cannot say enough about this care home. It is like a home from home. I was so worried about my mum having to go into a nursing home but she has been at Burlington Nursing & Residential Home for eleven months now and gets such wonderful care. The carers are second to none and know how to cope with
residents' different needs so well. The management team, kitchen staff (lovely food), housekeeping and maintenance are brilliant too. You are made to feel very welcome when visiting and are always able to speak to the manager or assistant manager. My mum is very happy here.

The care at this home is disgusting. My ex-partner was there from December 2022 forward to the 1st of September 2023. He has dementia. He fell down the stairs. My daughter got a phone call to say he was okay. Then got another call to say he had been taken to the hospital my daughter was never told by
the home that this had happened. She only found out when she went to see her dad who told her! The paramedics raised safeguarding with CQC about the home and my family were not happy with any of the response from the manager. As a result of all this my daughter got an email to find another home for her dad from the owner. They need shutting down. I wonder how many other things have gone on in this home and been covered up.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.628)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.628) out of 10 for Burlington Nursing & Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.278 for Burlington Nursing & Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (61 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 90 Ratings = 4.278

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.35 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Burlington Nursing & Residential Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.75

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
