Barchester Westlake House Care Home offers first class care and comfort in Horsham, West Sussex.

Located in a leafy rural countryside setting, yet local to picturesque and thriving Horsham Town Centre, Westlake is a warm, friendly and an inviting home, offering first-class 24-hour nursing and residential care in West Sussex.

Less than a five-minute drive to the nearest rail station, with plenty of local amenities on the doorstep, Westlake is proud of its beautifully maintained and nurtured gardens which both residents and visitors to the home can enjoy all year around. The home is also delighted to have received a 'Good' in their latest CQC inspection in July 2019.

A dedicated and experienced team are passionate about providing quality care that affords the best possible alternative for those who are no longer able to manage at home. Staff empower residents to regain independence, choice and freedom in their lives in a safe and comfortable setting.

Westlake has en-suite, fully furnished bedrooms which can be personalised, beautiful lounge areas with pretty views as well as elegant dining rooms in a relaxed atmosphere. A team of highly qualified and attentive staff really focus on the individual needs of residents with a bespoke care plan for each person.

Westlake House are delighted to be offering free Wi-Fi to residents and visitors. This allows residents more ways of keeping touch with their loved ones. Bedrooms are also set up with a Sky connection and phone line should you wish to make a private arrangement for this.

I find all the staff are very helpful. The nurses are excellent. The premises at Westlake and their gardens are very good and afternoon tea and cakes are very nice. The car park is a decent size and most times a parking space is available.

I know that when Mum is in Westlake she will be extremely well looked after. She enjoys the company. We can go on holiday and have peace of mind she is in good care.

My sister was welcomed very well by all the staff. Lovely, bright and furnished rooms. A very calm tranquil and friendly home. Lovely outdoor seating areas and pretty gardens. So far so good thank you all. Also a good variety of activities.

My mum has been here for about three months. I have been visiting her for the last few days, as I live overseas. The home seems to be well run and staff are attentive. I have eaten the food myself and it is so well cooked and presented. Mum seems as happy as she can be.

Mum has been in Westlake since the beginning of April.
The staff were amazing when she came in, really helping her to settle in and feel happy in her "new room".
She is now settled and relatively happy (everything about the staff is good - less happy about her own self and her deterioration).
She
is becoming more confident about attending a few activities and even ventures into the dining room.
Her only complaint is the speedy staff!

My wife has been a resident for 18 months. A change of manager resulted in many staff leaving and a loss of morale. The recently appointed manager had restored morale and created a much happier atmosphere. I do hope that this continues.

I have enjoyed my stay at Westlake House.
All the staff were nice and thoughtful.

When I arrived here after a serious illness I felt I have gone to paradise. The décor is so pretty yet restful and the carers efficiently patient and kindly. Personal washing is carefully done with a swift turnaround. The menu is worthy of a 5-star hotel. Well presented without being ostentatious.
The
purpose-built accommodation is bright and conveniently designed. What more could you ask for?
Management helpful and deals quickly with any problems. I'm just waiting for the summer to sit in the garden.

All the staff are very caring and try to make time to talk to patients whenever possible.
Nothing is too much trouble everything is done for the benefit of patients and their guests. We booked a family meal and it was excellent well worth the money and we were all treated with great respect. Would
recommend this for people who can't get out.

On arrival on 13th January, the receptionist gave us a lovely welcome. Overall I have been extremely well looked after, particularly by the nursing staff.
The chief nurse (ground floor) could not have been more conscientious and caring and her carers were kind and attentive - always cheerful.
I personally
do not have a big appetite but I feel the standard was let down by the food and its presentation. It seldom matched the printed menu and the vegetables were always overcooked and unappetising.
Other than the above, it was good value for money.

Westlake is like a home from home for my mother. She has been a resident for just over two years now and although it is not the cheapest home I could find, I feel that it is the best for my mother. In that whole time, she has been treated with care, respect and dignity. Whenever you walk in the door
you are greeted by friendly faces who will always say hello even if they don't know me. The meals are very good and there is always a hot meal at lunchtime and also in the evening. If there is nothing on the menu that my mother likes I can ask for a sandwich for her or anything else. I visit most days and every day there are the same friendly, happy staff. If ever I have a question it is answered immediately. My mother does not often join in with the activities but they are varied and fun for other residents. I couldn't wish for my mother to be in a nicer home as she is unable to look after herself, and she certainly receives the care and attention that she requires 24/7.

Hello, my name is Christine and I am the General Manager here at Westlake House. Welcome to our Website.


I am a General Registered Nurse with over 30 years’ experience working within the NHS and the Independent Sector. I joined Barchester as a Clinical Development Nurse in 2020 and continued to develop my managerial and clinical skills. I was proud to become the General Manager at Westlake House in 2024. I bring a wealth of experience and knowledge with me from my time as a nurse and supporting and training care and nursing teams. At Westlake House we are dedicated in delivering kind, caring and holistic care. Person centred care is at the heart of everything my team and I will provide for you. We will take the time to get you know you and deliver a first class service. I am passionate about working closely with my team to continue to grow their skills and the wonderful care and support they offer to all the residents as well as to each other.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

I began my nursing career in Italy and chose to pursue my passion further in the UK.


I have a strong background in providing care to a diverse range of residents' needs and I understand the challenges that they may encounter in day-to-day life. I enjoy working closely alongside our residents and their families to ensure that they receive the utmost level of person-centred care & support that they require, whilst also assisting them to achieve their goals no matter how big or small.

I enjoy all the discussions that I have with the residents here at Westlake and every day they teach me something different. I enjoy working alongside and discussing with residents the different ways to do things.

I have been in a Care support role since 2019 and an Activity Coordinator since 2020. I love that my role brings laughter and joy to others. After 20 years as a Customer Services Manager for a local Housing Association once taking voluntary redundancy I decided on a complete career change. I took a minibus driving course, brushed up my DIY skills and became a Maintenance Assistant.


Now there is no greater job satisfaction than as part of the Westlake Maintenance Team giving the best possible customer service we can to our residents, fixing whatever needs to be fixed and sharing the experiences as we go out on one of our regular trips in the minibus.


Making a difference during their stay with us is what it is all about and getting to know the residents and their families and learning about their varied and amazing lives makes the job all the more enjoyable.

Sheila Elliott

Job Title: Residents Representative

Joined: 2023

Sheila Elliott is our new Resident Representative at Westlake House.


She has been selected by our residents as well as staff, to take on the role of our Resident's Representative. This position within the home is one of many responsibilities. Sheila will work alongside the residents as their trusted confidant. All topics of improvement, worries, complaints and praises within the home will be handed over to Sheila where it will then be mentioned in our monthly Resident's and Relatives meeting that is held every first Monday of the month.
