In general, an excellent service is provided at this care home. Genuinely, all the staff members, especially the carers, are very friendly, caring and look after the residents with utmost respect and patience. Thank you so much to all the staff at this care home. Keep up the good work!

I find that the staff are very helpful and treat my husband with dignity and respect and treat me very well when I visit. The only thing is I find that a lot of his clothes go missing, even with his name on, maybe they come off in the wash.

I found the home welcoming and open to any questions I had. The staff are friendly and able to offer news on my mother's time at the home. Hairdressers and chiropodists are available on request. There are activity sessions for all the residents and as my mother is not very mobile, due to her health
problems, they are keen to get her 'up and about' in the recliner pushchairs available so she can visit the TV lounge and garden when the weather allows. My mother is content and cared for at the home.

I have to say thank you for looking after my Dad for the last 20 months. A difficult and what must be a dirty, thankless task at times. I found the staff on the whole welcoming, helpful and would inform us of any problems/changes.

The carers that look after my mother are hardworking and kind. I am very appreciative of their dedication and skills. However, I have observed that they are often understaffed and therefore overworked. I believe the staff to be Primrose's biggest asset and I sincerely hope that they are also valued
by management and their hard work is recognised and valued to ensure morale is maintained. The room needs updating, especially the bed and chair.

Thank you for your review. We would like to assure that staffing levels within the Home and the individual units are reviewed on a regular basis to ensure they are appropriate to meet dependency. This is overseen by the Senior Management Team to ensure compliance. Our Staff are very highly regarded and as a Home we have implemented incentives and awards to recognise the hard work and commitment given on a daily basis. We also have a schedule of redecoration which also includes replacement of furnishings and fittings.

I have known 2 people who were residents of Primrose Hill. The staff who work here are friendly and helpful. On their own they deserved good.
The problem is the management.
The managers of the Home were reasonable but there was a lot of change so little continuity. That was not helpful. So the staff
have to be called 'poor' on the whole.


The real problem lay with the people in Group who owned the Homes of which Primrose Hill is one and those appointed to oversee the Homes. They were difficult to contact and when any significant problem arose they made polite noises but did nothing. When they were challenged about their lack of action they acted in ways that made the problem worse, not better.


The MD of the organisation made no response at all to any communication.

Since the new management team arrived I have been increasingly happy with the way Primrose Hill is run and with the improvements they are making across the board. There's a lighter atmosphere somehow. The recent Christmas lunch was of superb quality, the staff worked tirelessly and the atmosphere was
happy and friendly; no-one would have felt left out. The entertainment afterwards was infectious and the residents clearly loved it. This is just one example of how Primrose Hill is progressing.

Amanda

Amanda Favell

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2018

Amanda has been at Primrose since 2018, first as a Deputy Manager and for the last year and a half, as a Home Manager.


She has been in healthcare for 17 years. Since then she has completed NVQ2 NVQ3 and completed NVQ5 management levels in Health & Social care.


Amanda has a passion for ensuring that high standards of care and compliance are maintained to ensure that Residents within her care receive the best possible placement tailored to their individual needs.


She and her team are dedicated to involving Residents and Relatives in the running of the Home and involving the Community in activities and events.


When Amanda is not busy at Primrose Hill Care Home, she is enjoying gardening, decorating, reading & spending time with her partner, 4 children & 2 Grandchildren.


Katie

Katie Williams

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Joined: 2017

Katie is a registered Nurse & has been in healthcare for 11 years. Katie has been a Nurse, Unit lead, & clinical lead before becoming Deputy Manager at Primrose Hill.

She has her Nursing Higher Advanced diploma, Is a Basic Life Support trainer, has completed IPC lead training course & supports the home with Infection Control.
Katie is passionate about making smiles, and making a difference in people's lives and believes laughter goes a long way!


When Katie is not busy at Primrose Hill, she likes to sing, spend time with her dog Tye, go out for meals, football & is a Newcastle supporter!


Karen

Karen Claydon

Job Title: Office Manager

Joined: 2018

Karen began her career as a Care Assistant in 2011. Karen progressed to A CHAP (Care Home Assistant Practitioner) as a support to the Registered Nurses, but in 2021 after a career change, she is now the Office Manager.


Karen has just completed the Business Administration course, with distinction!! & has a warm welcome to anyone greeted by her at Primrose Hill.


When she is not busy at Primrose Hill, she likes socialising, diamond art, walking, reading, and going away with her partner in their camper van to the seaside. Karen has 2 cats Jack & Sam who keep her busy when home!
