Our son went into Hassingham House last November with a terminal brain tumour, he was only 44 years old. It was quite difficult for him to settle in a home where he was the youngest resident. But all of the staff went out of their way to help him settle which was amazing. He became much happier in his
self and more confident. Unfortunately, we got a call on the 8th October saying our son was not himself, he had suffered a stroke. The staff were amazing both to our son and to us, they went above and beyond and made sure that our son was comfortable and his dignity was of utmost importance. We can never thank them enough for the love that was shown to him and us, in his final days. The compassion not just for our son, but for us as a family, was amazing. Thank you to you all. We are so lucky to have you in Hingham. You are unbelievably dedicated in every way.

My father was critically ill with an agressive brain tumour and was blessed when he went to the amazing Hassingham House on 13th August 2020. He was dying and needed urgent palliative 24hr care. The staff were simply outstanding and words fail me to express my humble and sincere thanks for ensuring
that my father was exceptionally cared for during his short stay. It was hugely reassuring to know my father was in the caring hands of the Hassingham staff who gently and kindly attended to his every need to ensure his end of life care needs were surpassed beyond belief. The manager steers a professionally run care home and she and her staff deserve to be highly commended for the level of care and attention they give to their residents. Simply faultless! They deserve 6-star recognition for the faultless and painstakingly efficient way they cared for my father. I know he'd say everything was more than 'Tickety Boo', bless him. I would very highly recommend Hassingham House Care Centre without any doubt.

We, as a family, have had nothing but praise for the staff at Hassingham House since my mother in law moved here in November 2018 after having a bad experience at another home. Suffering from dementia and various other issues she was always treated with the greatest kindness, dignity and respect until
she died in October 2019 shortly after her husband moved into the home.
My father in law initially found it very difficult to settle but the staff have shown great patience and with some changes in medication he has now become calmer and happier.
The way the staff have dealt with the COVID situation has been exceptional, trying to keep things as normal as possible with a member of staff even coming in on her day off to set up a skype chat on my father in law’s birthday.
We really couldn’t ask for better care.

All the staff at Hassingham House are amazing - the manager, all the carers, activities staff, housekeepers, kitchen staff, admin and maintenance. Sorry if I have missed anyone. My mum-in-law has been at Hassingham House for over two-and-a-half years and has always been cared for in a kind and caring
way. Nothing is too much trouble and if she is ever concerned about anything, she knows she can talk to the manager and it will be sorted, although she never wants to be thought of as a nuisance. I have to remind her that she must speak to someone if she is worried or anxious about anything at all. The staff are all so patient and treat her with respect and dignity and we cannot thank them enough for the care they give.

Hassingham House is a lovely, friendly and clean place with no nasty smells. Mum is very fussy with her food but they go out of their way to make sure she has something that she likes. Also she likes to keep herself very clean and is so happy when the staff give her a shower whenever she wants one,
whatever the time. Her washing is done very quickly. Mum told me she had put something in her wash basket that morning and when that afternoon she asked the staff member if if he had taken it to be washed his reply was "yes it has been done and is back in your room." The care is first class. Any problem Mum may have however small, is dealt with, either by the nursing staff or getting a doctor to visit and someone always call me to let me know what is happening. Mum has been in Hassingham House for 8 months now and it is such a relief to now that she is so well cared for.

My partner has been a resident at Hassingham House since April 2019 suffering from a rare form of dementia which has deprived her of her eyesight and spatial awareness, making her very vulnerable and at times, difficult to deal with. My observations during this time have lead me to believe this is an
extremely well run home with an excellent management team who have set a very high standard of care. This is reflected throughout the staff from top to bottom with all playing their part to make the residents feel cared for in every aspect, including all sorts of entertainment and activities on a daily basis. They deserve a medal, particularly for their dedication and determination to keep everyone safe during the Covid- 19 pandemic. I am personally so grateful to them for all their hard work during this very stressful time. They are truly an outstanding team lead by an exceptional manager.

Very positive experience during the Covid-19 outbreak. Kept well informed. Video contact with my wife which was/is a blessing. Staff always willing to update my wife's progress when I've called each day. As well, the staff always ask how I am and how my daughters are doing, which is comforting for me
and my family. So nice to know they enquire and care about our welfare at this very stressful and busy time for them. Can't praise them enough.

My mother was in the dementia ward for just over ten weeks and I cannot speak highly enough of the way she was loved and cared for. I had extreme reservations about her going into any care home. They were extremely understanding and supportive to me but she settled in immediately. Mum was always quite
shy and reserved but with the encouragement of the staff, she joined in with the activities and had a lot of fun with both residents and staff.
In her final week, the nurses and carers were exemplary. They monitored her extremely closely and always ensured she was comfortable, pain-free and peaceful. They were also extremely kind to me, keeping me informed, supporting me through a difficult time and generally being very caring. This has also continued after her death.
The nurses at the home helped me fulfil my requirements, to keep her as happy and healthy as possible and to keep her out of hospital. I could not have wished for her final few months to have been any better.

Many congratulations to all the Hassingham House staff that put so much effort in to make today's 'Mad Hatter's Tea Party' such an enjoyable and fun event. The costumes were all brilliant, and the tea provided was excellent! With coronavirus looming large in the future, this was a ray of sunshine amongst
all the doom and gloom on the TV! Well done to everyone!

My mother-in-law has been living at Hassingham House for 3 years. During this time the quality of care that she has received has been excellent. All of the staff are very caring, they have time for the residents and treat them with respect and dignity. The manager is fantastic, always has time to speak
to relatives, keeps us updated and is hands-on when needed. I was not surprised that they were recognised as 'Outstanding' by the CQC which I totally agree with. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

The staff try to make the care centre friendly, they do a good job. Food is always of a high standard, if I visit when cups of tea are being served, I am always offered one. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. There is very good contact with management, I am kept informed as and when I need to
be. Entertainment is good, always something going on. My daughter is happy with the staff, they make it as much like a home as they can. Well done to all at Hassingham House.

My mum has been in Hassingham House for over one year. She has challenging behaviour due to her dementia but the staff manage it really well and are very understanding of mum’s complex needs. I am very happy with all aspects of the home and would definitely recommend it to others.

My mum has been living at Hassingham House for almost 2 years. During that time, she has been provided with outstanding care. The staff are always polite and she is treated with dignity and respect.
Food is prepared fresh on site with a good choice and the catering staff are happy to facilitate any
dietary needs. Cleanliness is maintained at the highest standards throughout the whole building. There are plenty of activities for residents in both day rooms and for those, like my mum, who are immobile, staff will include them in an appropriate way. The manager is always approachable and willing to listen. I am confident that Mum is being well cared for in a safe and well run home which I would not hesitate to recommend.

Lovely place! Positive attitude, an area so important and that is recognised the moment you walk in. Everyone here is positive, happy and with talkative personalities, plus the staff, whose attitude reflects in the people that must stay here. Great job and a pleasure!

By far the best care facility in Norfolk! My Dad has been a resident here for the past 4 years and I can't honestly think of a better place for him. My Dad suffers from dementia and can be very challenging with his behaviour and the staff are excellent at dealing with him. The home is very well led
by the manager and her team any little niggle is always sorted out promptly. The residents are so well looked after and just like extended family. A trip to Great Yarmouth was organised for the residents and a lovely day was enjoyed by all! Without the help of the staff I wouldn't have been able to have considered taking dad on a day trip mainly due to his behaviour but the support I received in attending the trip was magnificent and I will always cherish that I was able to share this with my Dad a memory that I'll hold dear. The staff really go above and beyond their remit in making the residents happy.

My husband is in the care of Hassingham House now and I am more than happy. The care home is like my new family since he went full time in April.
He has had respite there for the last 9 years. I would recommend the home to anybody. The care is really good and the manager will always be there to help
and support your views.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.773)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.773) out of 10 for Hassingham House Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.895 for Hassingham House Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (94 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 105 Ratings = 4.895

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.878 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hassingham House Care Centre is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 46 registered maximum number of service users is 9.2. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.2 = 0.978

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

As the Manager of Hassingham House Care Centre, I am very proud to be part of an amazing team of staff, who are kind, caring and compassionate.
Having worked in the healthcare sector for over 15 years I have a wealth of knowledge and experience and have always been committed to ensuring all of our residents, families and staff are treated with dignity and respect.

Person-centred care and offering residents dignified care has always been a passion for me and Hassingham House Care Centre is a great place to embrace this passion. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, alongside of this I walk my two dogs and enjoy outdoor activities.
