Millbridge Nursing Home provides a peaceful rural setting in acres of beautiful grounds, through which flows the delightful river Hitch. Built in 1635 as a farmhouse, Millbridge has been serving the local community as a care home since 1947.

The 48-bed home is split over two buildings, a recently constructed purpose built annex and the refurbished and tastefully extended original farmhouse. Offering a range of care from residential, through to nursing and specialist Dementia and Alzheimer’s care, Millbridge enables significant flexibility to fully meet care needs without the need for additional, or multiple moves.

Carers take pride in providing a pleasant, homely environment for residents and are flexible enough to meet their individual requirements. Aiming to provide holistic, expert care within a pleasant home from home atmosphere.

The home has excellent links with the community and hosts the annual Millbridge Dog Show, a regular feature on the West Norfolk calendar.

My stay at Millbridge was one of kindness, caring, understanding + support.
I entered the home as rather a run down poorly person and was restored over the following months to be well enough to leave. I contribute this to the all round care from the staff in the home. They are cheerful, which at times
must be very demanding with so many residents with different needs.
In my case I cannot speak more highly of all the staff.

My husband went to hospital after a fall at home in May 2023 and after a while they sent him to Millbridge - approximately 28 miles from where we live and as I don't drive I asked social services to find him somewhere nearer. He settled in well and truly appreciated all the care and support the staff
have given him since his arrival there in November 2023. He died at Millbridge on the 14th of June 2024, and I shall ever be grateful to the staff there for all the loving care he received.

Such a friendly, caring, homely care home. The management and whole team are always friendly, professional and take pride in the care they provide for their residents. Also keeping us informed, either over the phone or in person when we visit, on the welfare of my husband. Nothing is ever too much trouble.
I could not recommend Millbridge Care Home more.

I find Millbridge Care home very nice. The staff always make us really welcome. My stepdad is always happy and he is always clean. His room is so comfortable. I have seen the dinners, they look very nice, lots of vegetables and good portions. The staff are so helpful and know everything about the patients.
I am very happy with the care they provide.

My mother is a resident who is blind, deaf and suffers with high anxiety and OCD. Mum is treated with dignity and always reassured she is safe. Staff encourage Mum to join residents in the lounge and support with any activities that mum can join in with. Food is always prepared for Mum with a plate
guard and cut up. Staff assist with all drinks and meals by explaining what it is and where each item is placed. Incredibly thankful to all staff for the excellent care, patience and support provided to my mother.

The staff at Millbridge are simply outstanding. They are professional, capable, kind and caring and knowing my mum was in safe hands gave us peace of mind at a time when we needed that most. We overheard them dealing with a very challenging resident in the care home and never once did we witness anything
but respect and kindness. When my mum was nearing the end of her life, we were shown the utmost kindness with staff going the extra mile to help us through a difficult time. Great leadership has helped build a positive, caring culture radiating warmth throughout the home.

We were unable to visit Milllbridge Care Bridge prior to Mum going in, due to Covid restrictions, and Mum would only agree to the initial stay of 2 weeks of respite care. From the moment we arrived, we were extended a very warm welcome and immediately felt at ease. Mum stayed at Millbridge for over
5 months and during that time she was made to feel part of their "family", and us too. She was given such loving care and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. When mum sadly died, she was given the ultimate respect and dignity and we were so fortunate to be able to be with her. The staff have since been a source of comfort to us and we know that Mum ended her life being loved and cared for alongside her own family. Thank you to each and every one of you.

My mum was only in Millbridge Care Home for eight months. During that time she was happy and well cared for. The staff went above and beyond to care for her and be friendly and happy at the same time. A lovely care home on gorgeous grounds.

On the 18th of June, I had a full hip replacement performed at the hospital. I decided before the surgery to have convalescent care for 1 week. I contacted Millbridge beforehand and spoke to the manager who made me feel very welcome and said Millbridge would be able to accommodate me for this reason.
I arrived 3 days after my surgery and was immediately warmly welcomed and shown my room in the front of the building which was beautifully decorated with butterfly wallpaper. During my week there I was treated extremely well with kindness consideration and friendly staff. The food was delicious and my whole stay was a very positive experience enabling me to go home to my family relaxed and rested.
Thank you to you all, very best wishes.

Dad was in the coach house for approximately 10 months. Before lockdown, I was able to visit whenever I wished and Dad was always smartly dressed and the room clean and tidy. Most importantly the staff at Millbridge are marvellous. Sadly Dad passed away on 21st November 2020, luckily we were able to
spend time with him during his last weeks and the care he received was second to none. Dad always smiled whenever any member of staff came into the room, which speaks for itself. Thank you.

Our father was admitted to Millbridge from hospital for end of life care with a life expectancy of 4 to 6 weeks. However, due to the exceptional care he received by all the staff there, he survived for 10 months surrounded by kindness, compassion and care.
There are no words to express how grateful
the family are. Thank you, every single one of you.

After a severe stroke, my late wife spent about 18 months in Millbridge. She received excellent care and attention. I visited or phoned every day and the staff were very pleasant and kind to me. Very important for my peace of mind in particular during lockdown when I couldn't visit.

The last thing our mum wanted was to go into a 'home'. However, when the need arose, I am glad she was able to stay at Millbridge. The room was lovely, fresh and airy, and Mum was cared for in the best possible way, professionally, considerably and attentively. The food was beautifully prepared and
fresh. Mum settled quickly and was happier and content, and I can't say thank you enough to all the wonderful staff here.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.368)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.368) out of 10 for Millbridge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.813 for Millbridge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.813

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.555 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Millbridge Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 53 registered maximum number of service users is 10.6. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.6 = 0.755

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
