The Paddocks is located in the centre of Swaffham, a beautiful and tranquil Norfolk town with plenty of shops and cafes as well as a weekly market. Swaffham is situated 12 miles east of Kings Lynn and 31 miles west of Norwich, which makes it a great base to explore Norfolk including the North Norfolk Coast and The Norfolk Broads.

The home offers the flexibility of respite care for short breaks and permanent care for those who can no longer live at home. There is a separate purpose-built unit specialising in the care of residents who have dementia type illnesses in addition to support those residents with residential needs.

The independence and privacy of residents is respected and the home maintains a popular programme of events and activities to help all residents achieve an enjoyable daily lifestyle.

As winter approaches, health problems can increase. The Paddocks care team are well aware of this and it is just so reassuring that help is on hand before it is even requested. No training programme can ensure this happy outcome. The local area has suffered a major water crisis this morning. No matter
- the catering staff came up with imaginative solutions. In short, The Paddocks is a remarkable community, well-led by gifted and experienced administrators.

Plenty of food. I'm free to get out of my room when I like. So glad that we have the activities lady, she works hard. Care workers stop to listen and are cheerful.

My father was admitted to The Paddocks in June 2020, following a spell in hospital in the midst of the pandemic. He has been made to feel very comfortable and welcomed from the beginning. All the staff are very attentive to his needs and have been very accommodating in allowing us to see him during
these difficult times. He has described his care and the food as brilliant (high praise indeed!). The carers even remind him of when his favourite programmes are on TV. A huge thank you to everybody involved with Dad's care.

The carers at The Paddocks really do care about the individual person and their family. My dad was really ill the last week of his life but despite being on lockdown due to COVID, they let me stay with Dad for his final week, they found a way so I didn't come into contact with other residents. For that,
I will be forever grateful.

Really good initial meeting when looking for a place for Dad. Good size, clean room, bright and airy. The Standard of care is excellent, always attentive and friendly, caring and considerate. Food and meals adjusted to suit Dad's desires and appetite. At all stages of his care, staff were more like
friends and family than carers, and we cannot thank the staff enough for making Dad's last few months happy and fulfilled.

My father moved to Sandpiper Wing of The Paddocks Care Home after being diagnosed with Dementia and spending several weeks in and out of hospital for falls. He moved in at the beginning of October 2019 and we were able to choose a room (or as we call it an 'apartment') for him, which we furnished with
his possessions from his old bungalow. The staff have all been brilliant, they are all so caring and never fail to let me know if Dad has had a fall, or if he needs anything. Since the breakout of Covid 19, they have video called me each week so that Dad and I can see each other. This was something which they did, without being prompted by me. They are all truly caring and I could not rate the staff or the facilities highly enough.

Mum had been in The Paddocks for nearly 5 years and this relates to her last month in Sandpiper Wing. After her stroke in November plus dementia, poor co-ordination and poor eating and lack of verbal communication skills, Mum was cared for by the staff and given as much support as possible. She was
kept in familiar surroundings and encouraged, helped and cared for as well as possible given her circumstances. Staff were attentive, friendly, supportive and as cheery as possible to Mum and our family members in her last month. Thank you.

Moving my mum to The Paddocks was the best move. As a family, we were so worried. She has settled in wonderfully and we cannot fault it. My wife was resident at The Paddocks for 9 years suffering with Lewy Body Disease. Throughout those 9 years, she and her family were treated with the utmost care and consideration and staff managed to retain her dignity to the very end. Nothing was too much trouble and we, as relatives, were always
made to feel welcome and a part of 'the larger family'. A very difficult job done superbly well. The admin department could be improved!

My mother-in-law has had a two weeks stay at The Paddocks and in her words, it was home from home. I was very unsure of how she would get on but she had a wonderful time. The staff were very friendly and the food so good. She really enjoyed her stay.

My husband has just spent a week in your lovely home for respite for me.

My mother has Alzheimer's and is a very strong-willed and extremely physically fit 96-year-old. Her previous care home badly neglected her needs on every level, but finding an alternative that would meet her needs wasn't an easy task with her being unusually robust and active for her age. I visited
many Homes without success .. then came across The Paddocks in the nick of time. The Unit Manager is delightful and very knowledgeable and understanding. She facilitated Mum's move with the best of help and co-operation. Mum's room is beautiful, newly furnished and so homely. After two months, Mum is happier and more cheerful than I've known her to be in 6 years. The staff are so competent in managing the difficult symptoms of dementia. She gets fresh air, exercise, lots to do and 3 excellent meals a day including a full cooked breakfast. The activities co-ordinator is amazing; she deals with Mum with good humour, calm determination and great success. Finally, I have peace of mind.

The care staff were all brilliant with my mother for the four and a half years of her stay. They were always helpful, friendly, and welcoming when we visited and promptly advised if the GP had been called to see her or of any other medical concerns. In many ways they wee he substitute family when we
could not be there and treated her with great dignity and obvious affection.

Both of my parents were receiving nursing care at The Paddocks for just a few weeks at the end of their lives. All of the staff were wonderful and caring. The staff kept us informed at all times of their medical needs. We felt confident in all aspects of the care given to my parents and consideration
given to all the family. I would highly recommend this care home.

The Paddocks are a huge care home, the staff are kept busy and have to do all forms of tasks. When referred, sometimes agency personnel are called for the contact between the home, the doctors, outside NHS, nurses and hospitals which is good when referred. The control of medication is good from the
homes team. Perhaps an increase of new wheel-chairs, walking frames, bed and chair pressure pads, seating pads for comfort and not depending on social services and hospital to "support" the home, across all wings at The Paddocks. For some items i.e toilet and pads, towels and bedding are always there to use, which is nice and clean. This is not a complaint of the home, just a view which may continue to improve the care given.

My mum was admitted to Kingfisher Wing for rehab following a spell in hospital. It was soon evident that her health was failing and she should never have been admitted for rehab as she just wasn't well enough. Her health deteriorated quite rapidly but Kingfisher Wing were brilliant, they arranged for
GP, District Nurses to ensure her final days were comfortable and pain-free. The care staff were so caring, kind and compassionate to my mum in the short time she was there, it was overwhelming. Special thanks must go to the senior carers but also praises for all the other staff who not only looked after mum but us as well.

My husband was at The Paddocks Care Home from 6th April until 11th May, after which he sadly died in hospital. For the whole of his short stay at The Paddocks, he was treated with respect, care and courtesy. The staff were unfailingly kind and cheerful. I am grateful to them for the care they provided.

I am so pleased to send this information about the care home. My Mum was placed into The Paddocks Care Home on the 8th March - 6th May 2018 when she passed away. The care and attention paid to her by all the staff was first class, she did not want for anything. The staff was on the ball for all her
medication and was on the ball so that she was never in pain and the staff attended to all of her needs. They also gave me help as things went on and after visiting her every day when I left her I knew she was in good hands. It felt as when I left, someone else in the family was looking after her. This care home is run extremely well from top to bottom.

Job Title: Registered Home Manager

I have worked in health and social care almost all of my life, starting as a carer when I was 21. Over the last 30 years, I have worked in operational management roles in care settings including care homes as a care home manager. Whatever my job title, I still consider myself a carer at heart. My family roots are in Norfolk and I am so excited to have the opportunity to lead the team at The Paddocks in developing an outstanding experience for everyone living, visiting and working at the Home. I strongly believe the success of the Home is down to effective collaboration and I look forward to working in effective partnership with all of our stakeholders.
