My husband was at Sunnycroft Care Home for 11 months until his death. He was always treated with care and respect and as an individual. All the staff were friendly and caring, both to him and to his visiting family. and nothing was ever too much trouble. When he needed medical treatment, it was always
obtained quickly and his wishes were taken into account, and I was always contacted quickly when it was necessary.
He was reluctant at first to join in the activities on offer, but with the patience of the staff, he gradually joined in and benefitted from them, particularly enjoying the musical sessions. And it was so nice how excited the staff were when he did join in; it made me feel that he mattered as much to them as he did to his family.
Sunnycroft is a lovely care home, and the staff are wonderful - I couldn’t have asked for a better place for my husband.

My father was a resident at Sunnycroft for a number of months in 2022 to 2023 and I feel lucky that he was allocated a home with such kind and caring staff. Many of them went above and beyond to ensure he had the best of care, whether it be medical attention or support. They were also very welcoming
to me and my family and made my young children feel very welcome and put them at ease when we visited. They put on varied activities for the residents and made his time there safe and as happy as possible. Thank you Sunnycroft.

I wrote a review on Sunnycroft in August 2021 when my mum was there for respite care. My mum's ability to cope with living at home had deteriorated and she decided after her last fall at her cottage and being hospitalised that she would move to a care home. As she had been at Sunnycroft and had liked
the home she decided that she would return there.
The staff for the most part had not changed and she even had her old room back which she was happy with. Mum was only there for about 3 months when her condition, which had been declining due to her failing heart took her life.
But for the time that she was there she did enjoy her stay, she was always happy with the food and care there, if any health issued presented itself it was always addressed, either by the staff or by the local GP surgery.
My mum was not a social beast and did use the facilities that much but did like to have her hair and nails done which was done in house.
All in all a lovely care home and lovely staff. Thank you.

My father was at Sunnycroft for 12 months up until his recent death. He was always treated with respect, patience and care. Everyone who dealt with him was friendly and treated him as an individual. He often told me he was being well cared for, and I fully agree with him. When medical support was needed,
it was always sent for. They were good at communicating with me whenever they thought it necessary. On my visits, everyone was friendly and made me and my family feel welcome. I am pleased that Dad was able to be looked after so well and am grateful to all the staff concerned. Thank you all.

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.179)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.179) out of 10 for Sunnycroft Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.629 for Sunnycroft Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (22 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 35 Ratings = 4.629

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.55 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Sunnycroft Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 10 = 0.3

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
