Thorp House provides a safe and stimulated environment where 24 hour qualified staff as well as a highly skilled care staff are here to assist with all your requirements. Thorp House do not discriminate between clients and all prospective clients undergo a thorough pre-assessment to establish their needs and to ensure the home is the best place for you.

The house has a very warm and homely atmosphere with very energetic and enthusiastic staff. All meals are home cooked on the premesis. The kitchens can cater for all diets and are especially interested in nutrition and how to maintain a healthy life.

The enclosed gardens which people can use without fear of being interupted or being able to leave the grounds without assistance are set in a quadrangle in the middle of the home.

From day one, the care my husband has received has been excellent. The staff, nurses and carers are all so kind and caring. They make sure that he is clean, fed and medically cared for. The support staff, e.g. cleaners etc., are always pleasant and exchange little chats to make my husband feel comfortable.
I have been made very welcome, offers of hot food and drinks.

My dad has only been at Thorp House since the beginning of December. Dad has advanced vascular dementia, and Mum has been his carer, but it just got too much for her. Having been married for 63 years, putting him into a care home was a difficult decision. On our visits, prior to him moving in, all the
staff made us feel welcome, were friendly, caring and helpful and put us at ease straight away. The home had a wonderful atmosphere, and we liked it immediately. After visiting Thorp House, we didn't even consider another care home for my dad. Dad has settled in extremely well. Thorp House has a wonderful team of dedicated staff who are kind and caring towards every resident, and my dad is well looked after. Nothing is too much trouble for any of them. They encourage Dad to participate in the different activities they offer each day. The food looks and smells delicious. I cannot fault the staff who make Thorp House the wonderful, welcoming home that it is for all its residents.

Our family friend took up residence at Thorpe House in November 2021 following discharge from the hospital. She was elderly (91 years) with multiple health problems, including the initial stages of dementia and recurring leg ulcers that the health service had been unable to cure/improve. She had suffered
regular bouts of depression following the loss of her husband of 71 years. Within months of her taking up residence at Thorpe House, the leg ulcer was cured, she returned to eating and enjoying her food, and her weight, which had become worryingly low, began to increase. Unfortunately, in the past two years, she has suffered Covid twice and a mini-stroke plus a chest infection. On every occasion, she has received the utmost care and kindness from the staff and, despite her frailty, has always recovered. The home is comfortable and spotlessly clean, and residents truly feel that they are 'at home'. An excellent regular entertainment programme is appreciated and enjoyed by the residents.

My mum came to Thorp House in January. Mum was a very shy lady, very quiet. Mum was cared for by all the staff. Mum's face lit up whenever staff or family came into the room. We knew she was happy there. I was invited to a night meal with Mum, it was lovely with all the residents and music was playing.
The food is amazing here and was always asked if we wanted refreshments. Mum sadly passed away in June at 91, Mum had a very happy 6 months here. Thank you to the manager and all the staff day and night. Highly recommend.

Very nice clean home with very friendly helpful staff. Does not smell like other care homes I have been in. The staff look after the residents very well and are trying to add more new activities to what they do with them already.

I have visited Thorp House with my dog a couple of times now. Every time we are made very welcome and the service user/resident we visit really seems to get a lot out of her time with my dog. Today when we visited the local mother and baby group were at Thorp House, most residents were outside in the
shade as it was a hot day. The atmosphere was upbeat and stimulating and everyone, including the staff, were smiling. I saw staff support, interact and meet residents' needs at all times. No one was left unincluded, it really was lovely. My husband had Parkinson's and dementia, he died at home last year.

I can't fault anything about Thorp House. The staff are so kind to my mum. Such an inviting place to go to. My mum is always laughing and smiling.
Saturday we went for a visit and got invited to lunch in the garden really unexpected. Food was lovely. Had a lovely time. Keep the good work up, you are

My dad was only there for a week before he passed away. But the staff went out of their way to do everything they could to make his last week as good as it could be. The place was always clean, the staff were very professional and caring. I would recommend anybody needing care to see if you can get

I had no idea how to choose a nursing home for my wife who had vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s so I went with my gut feeling. From the domestic staff to management, the maintenance man to carers and nurses and everyone else, every single person I met cared. Nothing was too much of a problem for
anyone, they treated my wife with dignity, love, care and compassion, it was as though we had known them for years. The nurses and carers spent time to keep me updated with my wife’s health and explain what was happening each step of the way, they even kept an eye on me, and were with my wife and I when she passed, they are all truly amazing people. The past few months have reminded me how good people can be and having people from all over the world makes our health care system. For my wife and I, this nursing was everything we could have asked for and I cannot thank each and every member of staff enough for what they have done.

My dear mum was privileged to spend the last 11 months of her life under the care of the wonderful staff at Thorp House. She was discharged from the hospital under social services to an area some distance from her home and friends and, initially, we were concerned as it wouldn’t have been our choice.
Mum struggled to settle at first but the home persevered and with time Mum settled and became an integral part of the daily life of Thorp House and its activities. Mum’s final day came quite unexpectedly but the home looked after her and me with such love and kindness. Even after she had passed, the night staff, who I hadn't met before, were so professional in how they looked after us both. The funeral directors made comment to us the following day about how clean and beautifully presented Mum was when she arrived with them. The management staff run a wonderful team and you, or your family member, will be in safe hands under their care.

My mum moved to Thorp House back in September 2022 after being in the hospital since April 2022 with dementia. I can only thank the home and its staff for making us all welcome. Even when Covid restrictions have hit them, we have always been made to feel welcome. Mum is settled here and very much enjoys
the activities that are arranged. Food-wise, I cannot say too much as Mum is on a limited diet, but what she does have, and always looks good. Found all the staff to be welcoming and always prepared to help when asked, so can't really ask for more than to know Mum is being looked after.

I cannot praise this care home enough. so much compassion, kindness, love and dedication from all the staff including management. Care staff work tirelessly to keep my sister and all the residents clean, tidy, happy and content. Care staff are dedicated to spending time with the residents, chatting
and making them smile. Plenty of activities going on even for the ones in bed. The care home is so clean, I wouldn't want my sister in any other care home.

My Auntie had been at Thorp House for over a year. She had lots of fun and laughter there, the staff are caring, thoughtful, show empathy and are always professional. She often told me how much she enjoyed living at Thorp House and said the staff couldn't do enough for her and would happily stay and
chat with her, sharing jokes and stories. She was given a variety of activities to do including writing to pen friends, penning her life story and helping to look after visiting Guinea pigs which she adored. I would like to thank you all very much for your loving care of my Auntie.

I would like to write to thank you for the kindness and support the residents receive at Thorpe House from Activities. Our dad joined Thorp House approximately 5 weeks ago and the care he receives is second to none. The daily/weekly activities arranged are so well thought out and managed and Dad really
enjoys taking part and from what we have witnessed, so does everyone else, including the staff. Visiting relatives are also made very welcome to join in and we love seeing him laugh and smile. These activities bring all the residents together and we feel this is so important for their mental and physical well-being and is a big part of why and how they recover and thrive so well at Thorp House. We especially love the tortoise racing! Your hard work and commitment to everyone are very much appreciated. Kind regards.

I qualified as a nurse 30 years ago. During the last 30 years, I have worked in many different areas of healthcare but have spent the last 10 years working in a care home. I am passionate about making a difference in people's lives - residents, relatives and the team here at Thorp. I joined the team here at Thorp in February 2024, The home has a fantastic family feel, which I hear every day walking around the home with laughter and fun at the heart of the home. I am looking forward to moving the home from good to outstanding. At home, I love literature and classical music to create a relaxing environment.


However, my great passion is cooking and love to learn to create new dishes for my family and friends to enjoy.

My Career in Healthcare began in 2014 as a newly qualified staff nurse in a specialist Cardio/Thoracic Hospital. I progressed to become a specialist Cardio/Thoracic nurse where I was in charge of a Surgical Ward and High Dependency Unit. In January 2018 I joined Kingsley Healthcare as a staff nurse at Thorp House Nursing Home. This position was very different from my previous job but was very fulfilling as I had the time to deliver person-centered care to the residents who have become like a second family to me. I became the Deputy Manager at Thorp House in August 2019 where I support the home manager in the daily running of the home making sure that the team is delivering high-quality care with compassion and empathy.

Job Title: Hospitality Manager

My passion for hospitality started while I was studying in Paris, around 25 years ago, I started to work at the legendary Michelin star-graded restaurant named "Au Pied de Cochon". The atmosphere, the teamwork, and the attention to detail designated the path of my life and I continued working in high-level hotels and restaurants. At Thorp House, my key focus is managing the food service operations, working closely with the chef around menu planning and preparation to deliver quality meals to our residents. I absolutely love working at Thorp. Every day is different and brings some new challenges. To see the devotion of the team in bringing the best care to the residents in their day-to-day lives in our nursing home is heart-warming.


In my spare time, I enjoy doing crocheting and puzzle-solving.

I joined Thorp in 2017 as part of the administration team, as a friendly face to welcome residents, family and friends.


Whether that be in person or on the phone. I have over 8 years of experience having worked in insurance previously. I enjoy working at Thorp as it holds family values and is always a warm and welcoming environment.


On my days off I enjoy playing hockey or going for walks and taking on hiking challenges.
