During my husband's 3 weeks at Haughgate House, major building work was going on and there was a temporary kitchen. The staff were, therefore, working under difficult circumstances.
They still managed to deliver good care.

I find the staff extremely helpful and kind. They are very understanding. The food is appreciated by my uncle. He has been taken out several times by the activities team. There is always something for the residents to take part in if they so wish. I always find him very clean when I visit.

We have found Haughgate House to be a very special place for my father to spend the last months of his life. The nursing standards were very good - he was physically well cared for but equally importantly he was treated with dignity and affection. This caring attitude was evident in all of the staff.

The home is very pleasant with a nice large garden. Food is excellent, remembering residents' birthdays with a cake.
There are various activities to do, although there could be a few more trips out.
The staff are all friendly and helpful.
A water cooler/drinks machine with cups would be a nice addition
(plumbed to fresh water) this would encourage more residents/visitors to help everyone drink more.

I don't like male carers. This is mainly at night. The care is good and some staff always do extra jobs for me. I like keep fit, trips and shopping. I'm happy just sitting in the garden. I would like more singing and entertainment.

Mum went into Haughgate Nursing Home in December 2016 and the main problem we have had since then is that the level of care is inconsistent. She often feels that she is a burden when she wants to use the commode and was told by a carer early one morning to use her pad because they did not have time
to put her on the commode. She is incontinent and as such will avoid having a drink.
