Kirkley Manor is a nursing home by the sea, registered with the Care Quality Commission to treat complex care needs, which only qualified Nurses are allowed to provide. They employ their own team of fully trained and qualified nurses and carers, and never use agency staff. You can rest assured that they will meet your relative’s needs, whether it be a serious illness, physical disability, dementia, nursing care, or caring for them in the last stages of their life.

The home also has a full activities program delivered by dedicated trained staff and aims to have something for everyone. Whatever their level of ability, residents are supported to keep active in body and mind through enjoyable and stimulating beneficial pastimes, either individually or with others.

They are developing person-centred care practice. This means they focus on the person, not only their need. They listen and get to know each person's strengths, qualities, likes, dislikes, and their sense of humour, and as they and family members help them to understand their life story, you can be confident they will be supported to exercise as much choice and control over their life as possible.

They believe everyone is a unique individual, with unique talents, and that everyone deserves the same opportunity to live life to the full, so they don’t treat people differently based on their condition, especially dementia. You can be assured that your loved one will not be excluded, but rather supported to integrate and be involved with others in the life of the home.

They know that food and meals are important, so they employ fully trained in-house chefs who use fresh ingredients to produce a varied menu of home-cooked classic dishes, and from different cuisines, cooked and presented to meet individual dietary and nutritional needs.

Our mother was in Kirkley Manor Care Home for at least five weeks, prior to her passing away. I can’t praise the staff enough for how they gave Mum her dignity back after spending time in hospital for about three months. She was treated with utmost care and was always clean and in fresh bedclothes and
bed linen. Whenever I visited Mum, I always was greeted by staff, even if they weren’t directly looking after her. Special thanks to two members of staff who always knew what was going on from a nursing perspective. The healthcare assistants were also amazing in how they cared about their patients. They tried everything to get Mum to eat and drink and would often get something special for her. One of the touching things that happened was my daughter could visit with her twin boys who weren’t very old. This would not happen if she had remained in hospital. Special memories for us as a family. I would just like to say thank you for your love and care shown to us as a family. Thoroughly recommend Kirkley Manor.

Mum has been at Kirkley Manor for four weeks, moving there straight from the hospital. She is extremely comfortable, and the standard of care is excellent. Mum is treated with kindness, and her dignity is never compromised. She has settled in very quickly and seems to be very happy.

I found the staff very friendly and very caring at looking after my mother nothing was too much trouble. The home is a bright and very clean place, it struck me how it didn't smell of urine.
The food looks lovely, I liked how meat was pureed to make it easier for my mother to eat.

Due to my location in Australia as a permanent resident for 50 years, I am only able to see my mother once a year on her Birthday. Due to the fact of my mother's lack of mobility, I requested that we could have a small Birthday celebration in the grounds of this facility, a request that was granted.
Without hesitation, the staff provided all catering and could not have been more helpful.

My mother has lived in Kirkley Manor for seven years. Throughout this time, she has been treated with care, kindness and good humour. Her medical care has been exemplary and her visitors are welcomed warmly. I am very grateful to everyone at Kirkley Manor for looking after her so well.

I have been impressed with the nurses, staff and carers, and the overall running of the home, especially during the problems of Covidd19. Nothing has appeared to be too much trouble in caring for my mother or keeping her family informed.

The cleaners through to management are all lovely people - nothing's too much trouble. The food is good though the room is small and they brought me in a television as I was rather miserable about staying in this small room for 28 days without anything to occupy my mind.

The staff at Kirkley Manor are lovely and all work very hard. My aunt is always kept comfortable.
It would be great if the home had an activities co-ordinator, although I realise that staff are hard to find in the current climate.

My friend of over 70 years (he is now 88, and our grannies lived next door to each other) came into Kirkely Manor in a poor state mentally, emotionally and physically. Over the two years he has been there, he has regained his health and much of his memory and mental well-being. This has to be because
of the careful nursing back to health, but mostly, I believe to the individual care and friendship he has received from the staff. Bless you all!

I have visited Kirkley Manor on several occasions. My ex-husband is a patient in the home and I am much impressed by the care and kindness of the staff. The constant attention given makes them feel loved and wanted, and prevents them from feeling lonely.
The covid precautions are perfect for visitors
and patients, so a big thank you to you all.

Generally, Kirkley is ok. Mostly the staff are amazing but under so much pressure due to lack of colleagues. The food and cleanliness are satisfactory. The Kingswood staff, nurses and receptionist give 110% and look after mum well. More staff needed and they desperately need some new wheelchairs.

My dad has lost part of his leg due to amputation. He is quite set in his ways and he can be quite stubborn at times. The staff are now used to my dad and they always manage to look after him and his needs, always with a smile on their faces. They are so compassionate and kind - nothing is too much
trouble for them. A massive thank you to you all, as I know what pressure you are under.

My husband spent the last four months of his life at Kirkley. The staff gave him the best care, they were incredibly kind and considerate towards him, and us, his family. Nothing was too much trouble and most of all, the staff gave him time, to chat, to sort out his phone, his beard trimmer and TV.
At the end of his life this week, the staff were impressive, allowing my husband dignity in death and showing us understanding and compassion. We can't thank all the staff enough for his end of life care: he was content and it showed. A huge thank you.

I joined Kirkley Manor in January 2024 and have effectively established professional ties with both internal and external multidisciplinary teams. With a career in Health and Social Care spanning back to 2006, I rose through various roles, including Home Management and Peripatetic Management, developing extensive experience in nursing home management and operations.


My move from Shropshire to Lowestoft was motivated by Kirkley Manor's welcoming atmosphere and Lowestoft's historical charm.


Despite the demands of my role, I find rejuvenation in my hobbies of travel and Xbox gaming, bolstering my resilience in facing the challenges of Home Management.

Ashly Joseph

Job Title: Deputy Manager

With over 15 years of nursing experience, I bring a wealth of knowledge and dedication to my role as Deputy Manager at Kirkley Manor Care Home. After completing my nursing education in India in 2006, I moved to the UK in 2008, where I had the opportunity to work in both care homes and acute hospital settings. I joined Kirkley Manor in May 2024 as a registered nurse, embracing my commitment to high-quality care and leadership. My passion lies in advocating for vulnerable individuals and fostering a supportive, compassionate environment, which has been instrumental in my advancement to Deputy Manager. Known for my strong clinical skills, compassionate care, and team-building abilities, I strive to create a thriving environment where both residents and staff feel supported and valued.


Outside of work, I cherish spending time with my family and friends. Sharing special moments with my husband and children keeps me grounded and inspired in my mission to deliver exceptional care at Kirkley Manor.

Julia Keeble

Job Title: Hospitality Manager

I started my journey at a Catering college, training at a 5-star hotel in Bath, followed by management roles with Country Club Hotels/Whitbread. Working with people and food has always been my passion. I even had my own Food Store, supporting local food producers and Adnams Brewery.


Before joining the Kirkley Manor Team, I worked as an Operations Manager at Hotel Folk. In my current role, I proactively support the Activities, Housekeeping, and Catering Team, who are all a brilliant set of staff.


Outside of work, I enjoy walking on the beach and reading.


Deborah

Deborah Harvey

Job Title: Administrator

I earned my Bachelor's in Education, Social Inclusion, and Special Needs in 2015 and began my career in care in 2016. After a break to be a stay-at-home mom, I returned to learning disability services in 2021. I joined Kirkley Manor as a Support Worker in January 2022, was promoted to Senior Support Worker/Team Leader in November 2022, and completed a Level 3 NVQ in Lead Adult Care Work. In June 2024, I stepped in as Home Administrator while the previous administrator is on maternity leave. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, building LEGO creations, and spending time with my family.

Matt Dale

Job Title: Head Chef

Starting my journey as a commis chef in the hospitality sector, I steadily rose through the ranks of the kitchen brigade, leading to my current role as the home's Head Chef. My keen interest in hydration and nutrition proves invaluable in maintaining residents' optimal health, leading me to actively participate in Kirkley Manor's nutritional forum.


Beyond my culinary expertise, I thrive on engaging with residents, fostering a sense of belonging with the meals served. My comfort in running the kitchen is matched only by my contentment in the care sector, relishing the homely atmosphere at Kirkley Manor.


Outside of work, my passion extends to being a dedicated season ticket holder for Ipswich Town, alongside my commitment to my family.
