Mabbs Hall care home delivers nursing and mental health care to up to 29 residents.

Mabbs Hall is located in the small market town of Mildenhall, Surrey. It is a short drive into Cambridge and just a mile from Thetford Forest Park, a 47,000-acre forest providing plenty of opportunities for excursions and exploring. Closer to home, there are numerous shops and restaurants moments from the home, as well as a large park and the River Lark.

The home itself is elegantly decorated and sits in a quiet, residential close. Most bedrooms are single but there are two double rooms for couples. CCTV is located in communal areas including the two lounges, a dining room and a landscaped garden, where wildlife such as deer often roam among the raised flowerbeds that keen gardeners can use.

There are choices of home-cooked balanced meals available at mealtimes and dietary requirements are catered for.

Due to ongoing restrictions, only parts of the care facility are available for review. This does mean they are taking safety seriously though. Staff are friendly and helpful, and residents seem happy and well looked after. Areas open to visitors are clean and very warm.

My mum went to Mabbs Hall Care Home in June 2022 after being moved from a home in Kent to be closer to me. I cannot fault Mabbs Hall carers in any way, they looked after my mum until the very end as sadly she died in November 2022. I am so glad she went there for her last months. I would highly recommend
Mabbs Hall.

Can only praise Mabbs Hall and all the workers for the brilliant care of my aunt. Great communication from them all with regard to her health and well-being. It's very difficult for me as I live a long way away and can't get to visit as much as I would like, but I know she is in fabulous hands.

My father came to Mabbs Hall straight from hospital, I cannot believe the difference in him since his arrival. This is all down to the excellent caring staff at Mabbs Hall. He's integrating better with others, his appetite has improved due to the high standard of the meals being given to him. The wonderful
staff at Mabbs Hall have made our life as a family very much less stressful by the great care they provide my father, with constant updates regarding his progress.

Mabbs Hall have done a wonderful job caring for my mother-in-law. Within one week of being there she was like a different person. She was extremely clean, happy and fulfilled. She had done things we believed were no longer possible. The staff are wonderful, funny and work so hard.

My husband had the most excellent end of life care with love, dignity, cheerfulness and respect. As he could no longer do anything for himself, nothing was too much trouble. Although he could not speak, or feed himself, they always called him by his name. I can never thank all the staff, from management
to cleaners enough for all the love and care they gave to my husband and myself. Sadly, my husband passed away on 21st November in my arms.

My experience so far has been very good. All the staff are really wonderful, all the carers and nurses are and they have done a wonderful job with my wife, as she got rather upset at times as her condition got progressively worse.

On the whole, my husband and I have been satisfied with the care that he has received. He is the youngest resident at Mabbs Hall - he does not have dementia but does have other complex problems. He can be a challenge at times but the staff have been kind and patient.

The staff are always welcoming and whenever I visit, they are more than happy to talk to me about my father and how he is doing. They also show concern over how we, as a family, are coping as well. We are very happy in the knowledge that our father is being well cared for. the manager is always available
and since her arrival a year ago, the home has had a very well earned and needed revamp.

This is the first home that has been required for my 97-year-old mother-in-law. It was obviously an upsetting situation for her to give up her independence at this age but from the very start, the staff and management did everything to welcome and settle her into her new surroundings. We are very pleased
with the amount of help and attention that is given to her daily. There is always someone on hand if up-to-date information is required by us and the management and staff are most helpful and informative. We are confident she is well looked after.

I have found the staff to be very helpful and considerate. As an older home, it is in need of modernisation and the surrounds need more attention (rear garden).

The Home is being refurbished area by area. The garden is being looked after by an outside company who had been requested to clean and tidy up every two weeks. There is a newly refurbished pergola in the rear garden. The rear garden is being prepared for the spring and summer activities.

Regarding the recent report published by CQC: We do not feel that this is a fair refection of Mabbs Hall, we challenged the factual accuracy of this report as we don’t believe the CQC has taken our comments into account properly, especially in evidencing the positive points of the inspection. We are however, working hard to improve Mabbs Hall and we shared our own improvement plan with the CQC at the time of the inspection. We are continuing to develop and enhance Mabbs Hall, for the benefit of all interested parties

I have been a nurse, deputy manager, registered manager, quality manager & assistant director. I have been an operations director for many years prior to joining this company, I have a passion for making a difference and a wide knowledge base, and I love working and being a leader in social care.
