Mill Lane Nursing Home is located in Felixstowe's Old Town and is convenient for local amenities and shops. The home provides regular trips for residents in the home's minibus to the local theatre, on shopping trips or to benefit from the fresh sea air of the nearby coastline. Peace and tranquillity are also on offer in the well maintained gardens that surround the Home - a perfect haven from the bustle of the town.

The home, once a local doctor's surgery, has been sympathetically extended and now provides a selection of welcoming reception rooms with attractive patio areas. Mill Lane offers specialised nursing care for the elderly and has an enviable reputation in the local community for its high quality care. Bedrooms are fully furnished, however, residents are encouraged to to bring with them items of furniture and personal effects to complement those already provided so that their room can become an individual retreat.

Care staff are trained to the highest standards and chosen not only for their skills but also for their warmth, friendliness and caring attitude. Staff are constantly available and provide professional care that respects the rights and dignity of the individual.

Residents are regularly assessed to ensure their needs are met. Appointments can be arranged with a visiting optician, dentist, and chiropodist. Mill Lane has an in-house hairdressing salon that provides all the usual services plus manicures and hand massages. Catering staff provide delicious meals and snacks throughout the day, with special diets being catered for.

A dedicated Activities Co-ordinator is available for residents and can arrange for them to take part in as many or as few activities as they wish.

Family and friends are always welcome at Mill Lane and they value their involvement in residents' care. Above all, they promote individual choice in a caring environment that is free from stress or worry.

My Dad arrived at Mill Lane Nursing Home in October 2022 after four months in hospital and being assessed at other care homes. When we went to look at the home we were immediately welcomed and knew that this would be a good place for Dad in his final months. We were not wrong. Every member of staff
was so caring. They welcomed us when we arrived and checked in on Dad every time someone went past his room. The love and care they showed to Dad was amazing. On the night that Dad died the staff looked after him with such care right to the end. The home is well-run and calm which was a good environment for Dad to be in. Our family cannot thank everyone enough for all they did for Dad and for the peace of mind it gave us all knowing he was being well looked after.

My husband was only here for a short time before he passed away but in his short time, he was very well looked after and enjoyed his time. All the staff made me and him very welcome and could not do enough for him. I thank them so much for all they did.

My aunt was moved from hospital to Mill Lane Nursing Home in mid-August. At first she was quite upset, but after a few days and wonderful care she thought it was wonderful. The manager and staff do all they can to make her comfortable. She says it is like staying in a hotel, the food is good. There
is entertainment most days and if she feels like having a day in bed, that is not a problem. The staff bring her meals to her room. All in all, our family are so pleased she has a room in this lovely nursing home.

Found Mill Lane to be very clean and very welcoming. The staff are very approachable.
Very pleased with my mum's care and the progress she has made over the last year of being there.
Mum is peg fed so can't rate food or drink.

It's never an easy decision for parents/children when moving into care but the whole family have been really happy that they have chosen Mill Lane Nursing Home. They took time to allow us to visit and worked really hard to help Mum settle into her new home in April. It is a "happy home" and this is
always evident in the care and support Mum receives. Everyone goes the extra mile to make the residents safe, comfortable and cared for. This ethos of working starts at the top and radiates through the whole team who work in such a hard, positive way. The food is great, with good options. Different spaces allow residents to be together but also have quiet times too. The outside garden spaces are lovely a real boon, especially in summer. The activities coordinator organises suitable fun games, activities and music and takes those who are able out in the mini-bus which Mum has really enjoyed. So many things have been celebrated, birthdays, Jubilee etc. Thank you all so much.

The dedicated staff at Mill Lane are friendly and gives the home a warm family feel. The events organiser is kept busy each day with the residents doing crafts, cake making, potting plants, trips out in the minibus, Easter egg hunts and jubilee celebrations. Fridays are take-away nights which could
be anything from pizza to Chinese. The food is home cooked and always smells delicious. The residents have a choice of menu and tea and biscuits in between.

Mum has now been at Mill Lane since December 2018 and has been well-looked after. She always seems relaxed and comfortable which in turn is always reassuring. Very friendly, attentive and helpful staff who show pleasure in having her with them.

At a difficult time in someone's life they have to, if they can, make a decision on where they spend their remaining days, both for themselves and for families. Upon being released to nursing home care from hospital care it was quite an anxious time, I cannot praise enough how welcome the manager and
her team made the resident and myself, which without a doubt helped to settle him, and eased my worries. The manager and her team are always there to help and answer any concerns or questions.


All staff are friendly, helpful and caring, nurses, carers, auxillaries, cooks, cleaners, maintenance - nothing is a problem.


The residence is clean, tidy, comfortable, has all his needs. The food is really good too, always looks good and smells good, and cater for what ever he fancies, guests can eat too (result!), so I can eat with him. He can have bits and pieces to decorate his room making it comfy.

Mum has just reached the age of 100 and the manager and the team at Mill Lane carried out a fantastic celebration of the occasion. School children came to sing Happy Birthday, the home was decked out with bunting and balloons, a lovely cake was prepared for her and a super Elvis impersonator was there
to provide great entertainment and deliver the card from The Queen.
Mum has always received the very best of care and attention and it very much is a home from home. Thanks to all at Mill Lane for all they do for Mum.

My mother moved into Mill Lane in December 2021 following an accident at home and a short period in hospital. She was physically very frail and confused. From that very first day, she has received the very best care from the staff. They have not only been attentive to her needs, physical, mental and
emotional but have shown her genuine affection and understanding. They have accepted her choice to remain in bed but even on the busiest of days have made time to spend a few precious minutes with her. To see her face light up when a carer or other member of staff comes into the room is a joy! I can’t single out a single person for praise because they are all great but special thanks to the activities coordinator for her creative programmes and congratulations to the new manager for initiating residents’ meetings and for her efforts to involve relatives and friends in the Mill Lane family.

My family and I cannot thank all the staff for all the tender loving care shown to our brother during his stay at your nursing home. The care and attention he was given was second to none, also his family when we were visiting him, we were also treated with care and kindness and above all, the most
welcome cups of tea ever.
All we can do now is just thank each and every one of them. His last days were made so comfortable and for that all we can say is thank you. Nowhere near enough for the way he was cared for.

Our mother was admitted into Mill Lane Home in January 2022 but sadly passed away after just 6 days there. Management and all staff made every effort to ensure that she was looked after well and treated with dignity, and also made our visiting as stress free as possible. Their care and consideration
made us feel that Mum was in good hands, and that we would be contacted and consulted every step of the way.
Some of the ratings given only reflect 4 stars - this is because in most situations there is always room for improvement and all endeavours should strive to be the best at all times.

My mum has been at Mill Lane for approximately a year. She moved during COVID and it took her a short while to settle in but now she would not want to be anywhere else. She is very fond of the staff. I am always made welcome as a visitor, and staff have tried to not let COVID interrupt visits whenever
possible. Mum has her own bits and pieces in her room, pictures, ornaments, and chair etc. making it homely. She has just moved downstairs so that she has a view of the garden to look at (as she is mostly bed-bound). I am thankful to all the staff who made this move possible.

My friend moved into Mill Lane back in December 2019, initially for respite care, as his Alzheimers was progressing and he could no longer cope at home. He was obviously very apprehensive but made to feel very welcome and soon became a permanent resident. He always says he is happy and can't fault the
place. He is encouraged to dance, as he used to be a ballroom dancer and he loves it when there is entertainment at the home. He participates in a lot more activities now as the activities co-ordinator is fantastic with him. Despite there having been several management changes and the current situation with the Coronavirus, the present manager is amazing and maintains a calm and consistent presence within the home. She is always quick and efficient in responding to any queries or concerns and is warm and genuine. The staff are friendly and I feel that my friend is being well cared for and is treated with dignity and respect.

My father has received excellent care since arriving at Mill Lane in January, particularly during the last few weeks when unwell and he has been supported by staff since his arrival to keep going with his love of growing flowers and tomatoes. More importantly, he says the food is superb with Friday

My husband was admitted to Mill Lane Nursing Home for palliative care at the end of his life. He was treated with great respect and we were informed at all stages in his care. Mum came into this care home straight from hospital. Right away, I felt a good atmosphere in the home. Mum has a number of issues including not eating, not sleeping, prone to falling and shouting out to name a few. The home has dealt or are dealing with the issues and are beginning to see the better
side of mum. We are very happy with her care.
