Known locally as the Old Rectory Nursing Home but now renamed as the Barham Care Centre, it has an unsurpassed reputation for its homely atmosphere and friendly staff.

The home is situated on the edge of Barham village with shops and local amenities a short distance away. Its rural location also allows residents the opportunity to enjoy outings around the village using a network of smooth footpaths, or to simply sit in the sunshine using one of the secluded gardens. As variety is the spice of life, excursions are regularly organised to special events and places of interest.

Extended to a capacity of 44 residents, Barham Care Centre offers excellent levels of service with state-of-the-art facilities to match. Services include visits by: chiropodists, dentists, opticians, religious ministers, hairdressers and many more. If required, there is also the option for residents to be transported by adapted minibuses to the nearby Baylham Care Centre for specialist treatments or therapies.

Both my parents are in the above home, mum being admitted with advanced Alzheimer's and dad with vascular dementia. The care they have received since being admitted is second to none.
The staff are very friendly, nothing being too much trouble. Both their respective care needs are met on a daily basis,
without question. I would without a doubt recommend this care home to anybody.

I am 83 and I travel 12 miles to visit then 12 miles home. I have, over the years visited several homes and Barham is the friendliest I have seen. The staff are very friendly and caring on more than one occasion I have seen them go that extra mile.
I have been visiting Barham for about 7 years. The
management are always helpful and encourage to visit patients who are like minded or who would enjoy a visit.
My wife, now deceased, and I (a few years ago), invited a group of them to our home and garden for a BBQ and a wonderful time was had by all.

My first impression was a nice friendly homely place, staff very informative in how the home works and everyone seems happy and caring which made me feel comfortable to leave my loved one there.
The doctor comes in every week so I am able to discuss anything which I am worried about.
When my husband
first went into the home he was able to get in his chair with help from carers and a hoist and go into the lounge and join with the activities which he was encouraged to do. Every Monday the staff bring round a program telling you what goes on for the week.
They even take residents out on little trips if they are capable and want to, my husband went and enjoyed it very much.
Food very good, the staff very good if people don't like what they order they will make them something else, so obliging.
And enough staff to help feed residents if needed.
Visitors can always make themselves a drink and sometimes homemade cakes.
The cleaners come into his room every day more than once as some people forget you use the bin.
The wash is done to a high standard, all his clothes are looked after well.
He had a drawer come out and could not put it back and a clock stopped working. Just spoke to staff and was done that day.
My husband's sight is very bad from the stroke and he was very frightened so he used to hit out and swear at the poor carers. They are very good and now he has got to know them he is a lot calmer most of the time.
Until you go into a care home you don't know how hard the staff work.
They are special people and Barham Care Home has a lot of them. I for one say thank you.

We visited a few homes but Barham was the one we walked into and immediately knew it was the 'home from home' we wanted for mum. There is a lovely friendly, calm atmosphere and we always felt mum was happy and comfortable there. The staff made us feel welcome and that nothing was too much trouble. We
very much like that residents are able to wander about their home and there are no long corridors with a locked door at the end. The staff made an effort to learn about mum's life, interests and favourite food and drink all helping to make her time there happy and enjoyable. At the end of mum's life she was treated with exceptional kindness and compassion and everyone helped us through the difficult time. I am so happy that we found such a warm and welcoming 'home from home' for mum.

As soon as my sister and me walked in for the first time we knew our mum would be at home here. We were always made to feel welcome and everything was always out in the open. The residents can wander around as they like, no locked doors.
Our mum was well cared for and happy. There are activities each
day if they want to join in. Our mum was treated as an individual and the staff made time to learn what she liked. We felt she was safe. At the end of our mum's life she and us were treated with compassion and staff showed they cared which helped to make a difficult time easier.

We were so lucky that Barham Care Centre made a room available for Dad. Their care for him, and us, was exceptional. You could not find a better home. Every single member of staff went out of their way to provide the best care possible. Dad's medical needs were quite complex; the nurses met these needs
better than the hospital, and in such a caring, friendly way, with a sense of humour and with a focus on maintaining Dad's dignity. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Dad was taken into Barham in a rush, over the Xmas period.
The staff went out of their way to ensure this happened,and we are so grateful they did.
Their care for Dad (and us) was exceptional.
Everyone,regardless of their role treated Dad with kindness,
consideration,dignity and love...as if he
was a part of their own family.
There aren't enough descriptive words to express how great they all are!
Highly, highly, highly (to infinity) recommend.

I find Barham to be a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. I would gladly recommend the service to friends and family who need a nursing home. One of my favorite things about the Centre is that there are regular outside entertainers that visit the home.
