Shockerwick House is an historic building that has been lovingly converted into a care facility, offering nursing and residential care, support for younger adults with a physical disability, convalescence, palliative and respite care.

Shockerwick House is located on the outskirts of Bath’s World Heritage Site. The magnificent 17th century house is set in twelve acres of wheelchair friendly gardens, with an orangery and vegetable plot. The beautifully appointed rooms offer plenty of areas for residents to relax or socialise in. The home has a secure entry and exit system and a 24-hour call system so that residents feel safe and secure. All bedrooms have their own TV and telephone.

Special diets are catered for and the home has magnificent, oak-panelled dining rooms. Hot and cold options are included and snacks and drinks are available throughout the day and night.

Relaxation sessions, manicures and foot spas are just a few of the many additional benefits of life at Shockerwick House, with arts and crafts and musical afternoons being some of the activities that residents have embraced.

Shockerwick House is able to take advance bookings for short stays of two weeks or more. The home also offers day care, subject to assessment - please call for more details.

The building is very attractive and in a lovely quiet location. Recent refurbishment work has updated the interior. Staff are always very caring, helpful and patient. It's very reassuring to have qualified nursing support when needed.

Shockerwick House Care Home has always felt like home for both of my Grandparents. It is welcoming and friendly. The staff have always been very kind and caring. They go above and beyond to meet your needs. I am always very impressed at the presentation of the home, the quality of the meals and how

Hello, my name is Dana and I am the home manager at Shockerwick House.


I’m Romanian and worked for many years in the travel industry before I moved to the UK in 2015 and started my career in care.


I initially worked as a health care assistant before moving on to activities co-ordinator and services co-ordinator roles. I worked closely with the home manager and managed most of her non-clinical duties. One year later I was offered the home manager position at another home within the organisation and moved from Bath to Bristol.


I was delighted to join Shockerwick House in 2025 and I am very much looking forward to continuing its legacy with the help my fantastic team.

The residents and staff are like family but none of this gets in the way of the professionalism in which we go about our work.
In my spare time I am a keen gardener and love making Jam’s and pickles and when it comes to relaxing there is nothing I enjoy more than a bag of minstrels.

I rejoined the team at Shockerwick House in 2014 as a Senior Carer after 3 years of working as an HCA at the RUH Bath.


Most of my career has been in administrative work but from a young age, I felt that the caring profession was where my heart lay.


Working as a team we provide outstanding care for our residents and there is nothing more satisfying than seeing a smile on their faces.


In my spare time, I love riding my horse and relaxing in the sun.
