The specialist care received was second to none. The staff really engaged with my mother and took the time to ensure all her needs were met, not only physically but stimulating her.

My wife suffered from vascular dementia and was sent to a home in April 2018. The family wasn't happy with it so we transferred her to Ambleside, which we found completely satisfactory as they specialised in dementia patients. They looked after her, cared for her and she loved them! The family were
delighted at the move.

My dad was transferred to Ambleside from hospital for palliative care. Although his stay was brief before he passed, we have taken much comfort in knowing he was somewhere so welcoming and caring.

All the staff we met could not have done more to make us and dad feel at home and have shown so much

compassion.

We cannot thank them enough.

My mum was recently admitted to Ambleside and I am so pleased that we chose this particular Nursing Home. After looking at quite a few, I walked into Ambleside with my son and we both immediately new it was the right place for mum. The location is ideal and close to the town and seafront. Just right
for a stroll in the wheelchair in the spring/summer and easy to take mum out for her loved latte' at the local shops, which she enjoys. Ambleside is like a home from home for my mum, I am so happy and relieved that I chose this nursing home. All the staff are so welcoming and friendly and you actually feel they are part of the family. Nothing is too much trouble for them, even when they are obviously busy, they still ask if you want a drink as soon as you get there. The care my mum receives is excellent, and I can't praise them enough, dealing with mum and her decline in her dementia. Staff keep informed with all aspects of her care and her physical and mental wellbeing.

My father has recently been having a few problems and is feeling quite unsettled due to a lot of staff changes. However, all the staff have continued to provide support as always. The staff will always contact me if they have any concerns, which I truly appreciate.
My father seems to be more settled
and a lot happier.

My mother has been in Ambleside for more than 5 years.
The care she receives is second to none.
She is now bedridden but is treated with affection and respect.
The staff are all polite and happy and this reflects in the service that they provide.
I often pop in at different times and never once
have I felt like I was a nuisance.
I am always kept up to date with her moods and medical condition.
I feel so lucky to have found a home like Ambleside and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Mum has spent time at Ambleside on two occasions. The first was for 12 days following a fall in September 2015 and the second time was at her request for care and respite in November/December 2015, whilst my wife and I were on holiday for three weeks.
The care she received on both occasions was second
to none and she most certainly felt like one of the Ambleside family. The food care and staff were all excellent. When we visited we always were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.056)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.056) out of 10 for Ambleside Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.681 for Ambleside Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (35 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 47 Ratings = 4.681

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.375 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ambleside Nursing Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 20 registered maximum number of service users is 4, which has been reached with 4 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
