Silver Trees is a luxury 62-bed home set in the sweeping landscape of Somerset. Featuring two dining rooms and four lounges, the home offers a tranquil setting for residents in receipt of residential, nursing and respite care. There are 75 staff members, including a dedicated activities coordinator.

The countryside home boasts a secure garden where residents can enjoy the peaceful countryside in a safe environment. The home sits adjacent to an array of shops and has excellent transport links nearby.

As well as providing high-quality, person-centred care, Silver Trees also places high value on residents’ wellbeing, offering an in-house salon for them to relax and be pampered. There’s also free Wi-Fi access for all.

Mother has received good care. The regular staff are caring and provide good feedback as to matters of concern to the family. It is obvious that the home's ethos is to make sure all the staff adopt the appropriate standards and when residents have problems everyone pulls together to seek a solution.

Silver Trees is a purpose-built care home, therefore, all rooms are basically the same, including toilet and basin, bed rise/recliner chair and bedroom furniture. The rooms are on two floors and doors are kept open except personal care, so staff can observe each resident regularly. Each resident has
an alarm to press in an emergency. My mother has lived here for 2 years. The place is clean and tidy. Management is very approachable, friendly and helpful as are the carers. It is a very safe environment with a garden. Near to the local shops and activities for those who wish to take part.

Choosing a care home is a difficult and stressful task. Our instincts on visiting Silver Trees made this the choice for our frail, elderly Mum in her nineties, as it offers residential and nursing care on separate floors. It always looks very welcoming, very bright and always very fresh and clean. Initially,
Mum was on the residential floor but is now on nursing, we find the staff, generally, in whatever capacity, from dining, laundry to nursing to be welcoming, caring and approachable. Mum always looks well cared for and enjoys her food.

Dad spent 6 months at Silver Trees. When he first came here, he was virtually bedridden as he had a very bad fall and could do nothing for himself. Wash, dress, go to the bathroom, eat just about everything. The staff here were so patient, considerate and compassionate with him. A hug when depressed,
a reassuring rub in his back or arm when it was needed. He also enjoyed the food served here. Obviously, there were some dislikes but alternatives were offered if possible. Unfortunately, the rooms are a little on the small side but when dad was mobile, we made use of the lounge for visits. Overall I believe the care and good food here has now given dad back his independence enabling him to go back to his own home. Thank you all.

My mother had been declining in strength over the last four years and as she had dementia she gradually was unable to ask for things.
The home was often understaffed and the quality of the care also declined.
The telephone was often un-answered on her floor (ground) although the nurse on the upper
floor did her best to cover it.
On several occasions when I was on holiday the staff were asked to contact my sister.
This communication did not happen and we were finally left with a situation of a dying parent who we did not know was so poorly.

My mum went into Silvertrees after 2 weeks in hospital, she was made very welcome and was always clean and well dressed. The staff were always efficient, polite and caring, not only to my mum, but her visitors as well. Sadly she was only there for 6 weeks, but I don't think she could have been in a
better care home.

My father spent the last weeks of his life at Silver Trees care home during which time he was treated with great care and respect. Despite suffering from dementia, the staff took the trouble to involve him in the many activities and entertainments provided. When family and friends visited, sometimes
in a large group, all were welcomed and provided with refreshments.
During his final hours we were treated with compassion and once again food and drink was provided to help us through a difficult time. All the staff who had helped to care for him personally offered their condolences which, we felt, were sincerely given.

Mum went into residential care at Silver Trees four years ago. When she went in she was very poorly, not eating, not getting out of bed, dressed and eating and drinking normally.
Her room was always clean and tidy and the staff were all so very caring and always had time for mum.
She was very happy
there and loved her room, the food and the staff. You could see the love and respect the staff had for their residents. They also were a huge support to the family when mum was in her last weeks the nursing care she received was exemplary, staff from the residential floor came in daily to see her and the level of support and love for family members was far beyond the call of duty.

The care and attention given to my mother while residing at this home was absolutely excellent. Mum had vascular dementia and had very little bowel and bladder control and also had no short-term memory so reluctantly I had to put Mum into a home. Thank God I found Silver Trees after going around a dozen
or more within a 30-mile radius. Everybody who visited Mum (family, friends and neighbours) all commented positively on her care, the food she was given, her lovely room, the kind, considerate staff and the cleanliness of the home. The cook took special care when giving Mum a meal due to her illness and swallowing issues. Her own GP practice also visited Mum at Silver Trees from her practice - another benefit.


Finally Mum had End of Life care here after the hospital asked if Silver Trees would have Mum back for her last few days. The care and love they showed her was outstanding.

I cannot honestly write a review without mentioning the care manager. She was the only senior person I ever met or spoke with, despite visiting at least three times a week for a year.
In her care, she and her team of very caring, willing and above all else, very well managed team provided outstanding
care to my father right up until his very peaceful death, in his 'home', with those who felt like an extension to our family.
Dad was a very positive and appreciative person, who gave as much as he received at Silver Trees, right up until his final week there.
The standard of care and support that he received was excellent. We know that the care team - under the excellent support and management of the care manager provided us with an excellent experience. Shame about our final management letter! Dreadful!

My mother has been a resident at Silver Trees for some years. Both my brother and I feel that she has been very well looked after and we have no complaints at all.
She has never been an easy person to deal with very strong willed and determined but the staff are to be praised for the way they have
coped with her varied mood swings, that said we are grateful for the dedication of the staff all of them.

Extremely attentive to rapidly changing needs of my father who required a great deal of RGN Nursing care during the final weeks of his life. Having received a terminal cancer diagnosis as a fit 76 year old his mental and psychological management were equally well supported. He died in comfort knowing
that all his needs were being taken care off and felt loved and respected.

My mother lived in the care home for nearly five years. Her room was of a good quality and was kept clean and generally tidy over the last few months the care home seems to have had a more settled staff who seem genuinely friendly and caring and did their best to keep my mother happy and comfortable.
The quality of nursing care was also excellent. Out main issues were minor: TV being left on but facing away, TV tuned to pop music, newspaper left out of sight/reach. This may possibly be due to temporary/weekend staff rather than the regular carers? The general administration seems poor: the office is frequently unmanned and telephones unanswered. I am also concerned at the number of people who know the door entry code. (myself included). Practically this is useful but a security concern.

My 95-year-old mother went into Silver Trees for the first time in April 2016 for a week's respite care to give us an opportunity to take a short holiday. She was apprehensive. I found the staff, without exception, to be friendly, caring, helpful and flexible. My mother was reassured and well looked
after, despite not being an easy patient. We would be happy to repeat the experience.

Mother has been a resident at Silver Trees for the last three years after breaking both hips and becoming immobile. Staff extremely accommodating and always obliging. Alina Tarba

Job Title: Registered home manager

Alina has an NVQ Level 5 in Health and Social Care, and qualified as an RGN in 2015. She started in a junior nurse role, before becoming lead nurse, deputy manager and now home manager. Prior to this, Alina also worked as a care assistant and senior care assistant, gaining essential skills, knowledge and experience in all aspects of the home.


Alina adopts a safe and dignified approach to her delivery of care, ensuring the health, happiness and wellbeing of each resident. She leads by example, developing effective teams and a positive working environment, which is essential for both the team and the clients.
