Mum spent the last three weeks of her life at Mount Elton. Although she wanted to spend her last days at home this became impossible to manage as she needed 24-hour care and machines to lift her.
From the outset, the entire staff team could not have been more accommodating, welcoming and kind towards
my mum and ourselves.
Although they were very professional they also managed to make the home feel just that, a home where we could visit at any time. Mum didn't get to join in many of the activities as she was too unwell but on the day she did she was clearly enjoying herself.
Even the handyman came to talk to Mum and ourselves.
At the very end, they invited us to stay with Mum overnight if we wanted and made us tea and coffee.
Thank you to all the staff team for the kindness and compassion they showed towards Mum and all our family.

I cannot thank the team at Mount Elton enough for the incredible care and support they provided to my dad and our family. From the moment we entered, the warmth and kindness of the staff made us feel like we were among friends. Their genuine compassion and personalised approach turned what could have
been a challenging transition into a hugely positive experience. The dedication of the Mount Elton team went beyond the call of duty. They took the time to know my dad on a personal level, tailoring their care to his unique needs. It is not just a place; it's become a home filled with laughter, companionship and genuine connections. The staff's commitment to creating a caring environment made a significant difference in my dad's well-being. We are truly grateful for Mount Elton and the incredible impact they've had on our lives. Thank you all so very much for what you did for him.

I moved my mother to Mount Elton in June 2022 as her ailing health required 24/7 nursing care. It was the best decision, and Mum settled in quickly and was clearly happy. I was able to call and speak to the nursing staff at any time for updates and see/chat with my mother regularly via FaceTime or Skype,
which was a huge bonus for both her and me. All staff, including the administration staff, treated me with kindness and support, and I was notified quickly when my mother's health deteriorated. I spent the last three days of her life beside her, and the nursing staff were absolutely outstanding in their care, compassion and dedication to my mother's needs. All of the staff that I encountered were highly professional and very kind. The meals are superb and prepared with fresh ingredients daily, and the house and gardens are bright and quiet. I can recommend Mount Elton unreservedly to anyone seeking the best nursing care in a safe, small, comfortable and quiet environment.

What a wonderful care home this is, inside and out, and set in beautiful surroundings! We wanted to move my wife away from the noise and bustle of a hospital award to somewhere quiet where she would be well cared for in peaceful surroundings. The whole transfer was organised within a day by the home's
caring and sensitive management team and the level of care my wife received whilst at Mount Elton was exceptional. This was just what we were looking for and as a family, we were able to spend some quality time together at a special time for us all. We have no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone looking for somewhere special for a loved one.

My Aunt was at Mount Elton for around 7 years and during that time the staff were kind, friendly and supportive. Could not have asked more for her. They looked after her well. My husband and I would travel down from our home, in Hertfordshire, to see her and never ever announced we were coming. On our
arrival the staff were always lovely and nothing was ever a bother.
Would recommend this nursing home to anyone.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.500)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.500) out of 10 for Mount Elton Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.958 for Mount Elton Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (23 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.958

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.542 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Mount Elton Nursing Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.8 = 0.417

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
