At Norewood Lodge, a caring team of professionals ensure exceptional care and support is provided to residents on an individual basis for short or long term needs. The home provides a range of care plans including nursing, palliative, Parkinson's care and young physically disabled care.

Situated close to the coast not far from the seaside town of Clevedon, the home boasts wonderful views of the Bristol Channel and the hills of Wales. The property has large gardens for residents to enjoy, while a modern interior offers residents comfortable accommodation. All bedrooms are en suite and some have views of the pretty gardens.

The chef works hard to ensure that the tastes and dietary requirements of each resident are met and that meal times are a tasty and enjoyable occasion.

My partner stayed for one week for the first time in a care home, to give me a break. He settled in well and made a friend. He was given the lovely garden room. The staff were lovely to him and helpful to me. Although usually a loner, he joined in skittles and singing. He was surprised how much he enjoyed
it, especially the food. Full English every breakfast.

I cannot fault Norwood Lodge Care Home during the period that my father was a resident. He was welcomed, cared for and supported through all the stages of his time there.
He was treated with the utmost dignity during the last few days of his life, allowing for a comfortable and pain-free end.
The
staff were wonderful and I know that he was extremely grateful for everything that they did for him.

My grandmother stayed here due to my grandfather passing away. Gran was made to feel extremely safe and cared for and supported as she had been separated from her husband of 72 years together. I would recommend this care home to everyone and anyone.

Dad, myself and my sister were treated fantastically. The love and care they gave to all of us were amazing. All the staff looked after us, checking on us. At the end, dad was given respect and dignity. What more can we ask?

I spent ten happy days at Norewood Lodge Care Home following the month of January in hospital. I had a very pleasant, bright room overlooking the garden and the river estuary and it gave me great pleasure to watch the different kinds of craft sailing down to the sea when the tide was on the turn.
The
staff at the home were invariably efficient, prompt to respond, friendly, cheerful and very polite. They all deserve a credit and a big "thank you", particularly the ones who gave me a shower and washed my hair. When I first arrived I was suffering from nausea and a reflux problem which lasted for 2/3 days so I was grateful that a qualified nurse was on hand and able to help right from the start. In addition, the food looked so good and smelled so delicious that my appetite was tempted back and I was soon tucking away three good meals a day. The homemade soup was especially delicious and the chef deserves a rosette/gold star.
My visitors were impressed to be greeted at the door and escorted to my room. Also by the bright and airy activities/sitting room and where we enjoyed a film/watching the rugby/a quiz - something was organised every day. I especially enjoyed the community hymn singing in the dining room revisiting all the old favourites. Another big plus was the general atmosphere, all the rooms, both public and individual smelled clean and fresh - a big tick in the box from me.
No criticisms - if I were a resident, I would take a good reading lamp as the ceiling lights were inadequate for bookworms struggling with small print.

I have been going into Norewood Lodge for respite care for the last 7 years and all the staff are wonderful and really know me very well.

I would recommend Norewood Lodge as I find the staff to be warm and welcoming. The rooms are clean and bright and my father tells me that the meals are good. The general atmosphere of Norewood Lodge is cheery and it seems to be a nice place to be if you have to be in a care home. My father has a fabulous
room for his two-week respite stay.

We were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. A beautiful home. A room with a lovely view. Nursing staff very kind. The residents are very friendly, a good atmosphere. Visitors always welcome. Wish it was not so expensive.

My mother is aged 100 years and had been in Norewood Lodge for 5 years. I cannot fault the care she has received. The home has a very friendly atmosphere and the staff are kind and considerate.
Whenever there is a change in my mother's condition, the staff communicate with me straight away.

I have been at Norewood Lodge Care Home for over two years now and I can honestly say I am happy. I have all the care I need, the staff are friendly and I can laugh with them. There is always something happening in the afternoons which I love to join in with if my body lets me. I also enjoy the meals,
although I can be a fussy eater the kitchen staff do not mind.

My aunt has been in the care for the last 15 months. She has been looked after very well and the staff look after her very well. On a personal note I have found all the staff very helpful to me, nothing seems too much trouble.

I had concerns when I was obliged to put my mother into care 3 years ago after an accident, which meant she could no longer look after herself. The fact that she is now aged 102, happy and healthy is a tribute to the care she has since received at Norewood Lodge.

My mother's stay at this home was appalling and I only write this review in the hope that it helps others avoid the same distress. Ensure that the person who visits you writes down your needs as you explain them and make sure you cover everything even if not asked. For example; if you mention you have
a sore back, do you want to be woken and turned several times during the night? Do you need a walker or any other adaptation? If so you will have to take yours with you.
Check that your medicines all have their use by dates still on them, else they can't be given. Don't accept an 'arrive anytime' invitation unless you don't mind them being too busy to settle you in. If you want a clock or a softer light than the bright ceiling lights, take them with you.
They say they have taken these points on board, so hopefully, no one will have to suffer like my mother again.

During the 9 months my husband was a resident at Norwood Lodge, with vascular dementia and unable to walk, my family and I could not fault the care he was given. From the cleaners, maintenance staff, carers, nurses, admin staff to the manager; all of whom were there for his entire stay. Both he and
I were treated with great respect and care, I visited him every day. When he was very close to death, I was phoned that evening by the nurse, and stayed with him until he died. Both of us were shown such kindness.

This is the second time my husband has had respite care at Norewood Lodge. His care was excellent. He has so many needs following a major stroke and totally dependent on carers. Staff were exceptional, very professional. noting any concerns and informing me.

Richard Hier

Job Title: Regional Support Manager

Joined: 2015

I am currently a regional support manager and the registered home manager of Norewood Lodge Care Home. I have worked for Bupa since 2015 in a number of roles and joined Norewood Lodge in December 2023.


I first qualified as a registered nurse in 2012 and I worked in a number of NHS hospitals before I joined Bupa. I worked in neurosurgery and neuro rehab and cared for adults with cognitive impairment and brain injury.


I really found this rewarding and when I was presented with an opportunity to be the clinical lead of a large Bupa care home where I could apply my interest in caring for people with cognitive impairment to those who live in care homes, I jumped at the chance. I soon realised that I thrived in leading a team to deliver positive outcomes for our residents and haven’t looked back since.


What I enjoy the most is leading a team to deliver great outcomes for our residents. It’s the little things that make a resident’s day that I find the most rewarding. I also really enjoy being part of the Bupa team. We are all so well connected which means there is always support on hand and creates a feeling of security and honesty.


Outside of work, I live locally in Portishead and I have 2 daughters. I also like to try and keep fit and healthy.
