The Manor House Nursing Home is an attractive nursing home for older people located in the district of Uphill, close to the Weston Super Mare town-centre.

The 200-year-old heritage building has 22 rooms, all tastefully decorated and with good facilities and amenities.

There is an accommodating lounge area which looks onto south facing gardens, hairdressing salon and residents/relative kitchens for free access to coffee, tea and light refreshments.

At The Manor House, person-centred, non-discriminatory care is provided for all clients, and the dignity of individuals is respected at all times.

The philosophy of the home includes ensuring that the residents feel 'at home' in a safe environment. The home endeavors to exceed the national minimum standards of care as described by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The aim of the home is for residents to keep their own identity and individuality.

The Manor House has a warm and friendly atmosphere with all the comforts one would expect from a nursing home that includes twenty-four-hour nursing care from professionally qualified nurses and carers.

A visiting Chiropodist will attend to your podiatry requirements. A Hairdresser visits the home once a fortnight.

The activity coordinator organises and offers various activities to stimulate the residents mentally and physically, including outside entertainment, small trips etc.

The activity coordinator also organises celebrations during the year which include Christmas, Easter, bonfire night, fairs, etc.

They encourage visits by clergymen of all denominations to visit the nursing home to provide for the spiritual needs of the residents. There is a monthly service within the home. Alternatively, you may wish to attend your own church with family or friends.

From a very smooth and efficient, hassle-free admission, the level of care and attention has always been of high standard.
All of the staff are always very friendly and helpful and made one feel as part of a family.
They always informed me of any problems that they encountered, however small.
An
excellent standard of care at all times.

Everything about this care home is first class - all the staff and management are so kind and compassionate, no matter what nationality, male or female, young or old. They couldn't have looked after mu mum any better - nothing was too much trouble, it is like an extension of your own home. Warm, comfortable,
secure and safe. I'm 62 now and I've booked my place in the home already. I like it so much! (about 2038)

My sister spent the last 3 weeks of her life at The Manor House Nursing Home.
The care and attention she received were second to none.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who were always smiling and cheerful.
Whilst she suffered a lot of pain in that time, the staff were able to get a smile
or a laugh from her.
One hears so many poor reports from some care homes, so it is a great pleasure to be able to comment very favourably on the standards maintained at The Manor House Nursing Home.

Nothing but praise for this care home. Excellent medical and social skills. The manager who runs the home is kind, considerate and nothing is too much trouble. Mum is totally at ease with the manager and her staff. Mum passed away peacefully with total help and consideration from all the staff at Manor

My mother recently had two stays at The Manor House. The home is a lovely old house with a lovely homely feel to it, located at the very base of Uphill hill, one of my mother’s favourite places. The staff were all very friendly but very professional as well. My family were always made extremely welcome
whatever time we visited. Sadly Mum passed away while she was there but the care she received with her passing was second to none. I would thoroughly recommend the home to anyone looking to find a safe and happy place for their relatives.

We received a warm and friendly welcome. Having come a distance, we much appreciated the cup of tea on arrival. It was immediately obvious how much compassion was shown towards my brother-in-law.
The room was very homely and with some of his own personal things around him, he settled in very quickly.
Attention to details was above and beyond all expectation. Would be highly delighted to recommend The Manor House to anybody needing care, with a personal touch.

Mum has been cared for at the Manor House nursing home for the past three years. She is now almost 104 and we find her care to be excellent. The staff are all very kind, gentle and caring towards her. The manager is very hard working and does all she can to keep improving everything. Overall we feel
we could not find anything better. Mum enjoys and joins in all aspects of entertainments.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.472)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.472) out of 10 for The Manor House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.772 for The Manor House is calculated as follows: ( (65 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 79 Ratings = 4.772

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Manor House is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
