The Elms Care Centre is excellent, everyone who works there is caring, compassionate and efficient, nothing is too much trouble for them, they put the residents first. I visit my husband most days and have never had any calls for concern which is a great comfort to me knowing he is being so well cared
for.
Everyone there goes that extra mile and I admire them so much.

My cousin has been a resident of The Elms Care Centre for the last fifteen months, I really can't praise them enough, the staff are second to none, so caring, nothing too much trouble for them, from nursing staff, kitchen staff, cleaning staff, caring staff to office staff, all interact with residents
which I think is just lovely. I can visit at anytime, within reason, and always made to feel welcome. The icing on the cake was when I took her to her bungalow (where her daughter still lives), after an hour she said, "I'm ready to go home now", to me that spoke volumes, that's how well she settled in and that is all down to the kindness of all the staff.

My Mum is very up and down at the moment. I decided to pay and go ahead with trying to get her to the Christmas party. Two days leading up Mum was in bed. Then on the party morning I received a phone call from the activities lady saying Mum was up and her new Christmas jumper on. I was so emotional
as didn't think Mum would make it this year. She had such a great time. Singing along to the Christmas songs (in her own words)
I can't thank the care staff and activities ladies enough for making this happen. So very grateful to have this lovely memory.

My sister has been a resident at the care home for over three years. She is not always an easy person to get on with but has always had the very best care. I visit every week, and, as a retired deputy head, I am well used to assessing buildings, staff and facilities, and have always seen only the best.
My sister is clean, well-dressed, 'aroma' free and I am so pleased she is cared for as she is. It takes a huge weight off my mind as I have Power of Attorney both financially and for health.

Made a hard decision to put my mother-in-law in for 2 weeks of respite care. She has been so well looked after, staff amazing, food delicious home cooked and plentiful. She has even socialised and joined a few activities.
She is well enough to return home now, gained a few pounds and looks better than
she had for months.
The Elms is not a purpose-built modern home but it's quirky and clean - we wanted for nothing.
Highly recommend, thank you to you all.

My mother has been a resident at The Elms for four years, and I am very happy with the care that has been given to her, especially during the Covid pandemic. Previous to this, she has always been well cared for, her room is clean, and all her needs ate provided. I am now able to visit her once a week,
although she no longer knows who I am, it is still nice to see her!

Mum was happy, well looked after. I felt at ease that she was being looked after. Every time I popped over to see her the staff took time to talk to me. If Mum needed to go into a home full time I wouldn't hesitate asking The Elms to take her.

Dad was very happy at The Elms. He was treated with dignity and respect and all the staff were helpful and genuinely cared for him. We were grateful to know he was safe and being looked after as we live a long way away.

My wife went into The Elms on the 23rd September 2013. I cannot fault the care that she receives or the treatment that we both get from staff.
I could not answer all the questions below two were not really relevant. This year a donkey was brought into the home he was taken into my wife's room and
there was a definite reaction. We used to have horses and I think she remembers the feel and smell that she loved so much. Thank you all at The Elms.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.539)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.539) out of 10 for The Elms Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.893 for The Elms Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (75 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.893

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.646 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Elms Care Centre is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.4 = 0.946

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
