  • Addison Park, Callington
Addison Park is a single-story building, situated on the outskirts of the market town of Callington. Spacious and welcoming, its unique layout lends itself to a communal feel, whilst having quiet areas for spending time with family, reading or simply watching the world go by.

The management team have built a strong core of both care and house staff that strive to care for each resident as though they are a member of their own family. The relatives are very involved in the running of the home and are always coming up with ideas for fundraisers and activities which further enhances the lives of residents.

All residents are treated as individuals, with a care plan tailored to their specific physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. The team look forward to any enquiries, or arrange a visit if you are looking for a new beginning for a loved one.

Father was well cared for. He enjoyed the food. The carers were very likable and appeared to understand Dad's well during his respite care.
Good laundry service although some clothes missing. The residents are treated as individuals. Relatives welcomed for visiting.
Downside - building works being
undertaken but acceptable to improve the appearance of the home. The updated parts are looking good.

Found the home to be warm and friendly. Mum has only just moved in so still getting to know everyone. I have a concern around some of her clothes going missing but apart from that, I'm happy with the care she is getting.

The care and kindness of the staff at Addison Park is heartwarming at a very difficult time for us and I appreciate their cheerfulness and good humour.
I realise it is not easy to take on a property that was rather badly let go while you are trying to help folk.
It restores your faith in humanity
when there seems to be so much trouble in the world - I call the news the Doom and Gloom Show!
The cost I find difficult to come to terms with - sorry.

My husband has settled with his severe dementia in this care home. The staff are welcoming, polite and respectful. The home is clean and warm. Always secure, meals are regular, varied menus and can deal with dietary requirements. In house laundry keeps my husband's clothes clean.
I just know that £128
per day, every day is excessive for a 9' x9' room with a commode and sink. So not value for money.

My father was admitted to Addison Park after major surgery and has been unable to return home due to disability. Without exception, management and staff have supported and cared for him unfailingly. Management are easily contactable, Dad has settled quickly and loves having company and is receiving
nutritional, well-balanced meals. Everyone at Addison is friendly and approachable. Knowing Dad is so well cared for is a great weight off our minds and we can visit anytime, even having lunch with him if we want to. Thank you to management and staff.

Excellent physical and mental care of both my father and my myself. Staff are very supportive. Information from the manager and nursing staff is excellent. However, I think an introductory pack is needed.Staff do not wear name badges which makes it difficult when you first come to know who you are speaking
to and some of the routines could be explained. The laundry system needs overhauling, clothes go missing despite being labelled and 3 wool jumpers have been ruined.

My brother-in-law is only in his early 40's so it's hard for him to go into a care home. We couldn't ask for better care. All staff have been fantastic with all his care needs, always respectful and polite.

I stayed with my mother in her room at Addison Park for the last 9 days of her life. The care that she received there I could not fault, she was treated with care, dignity, and kindness. I could not have found better anywhere else. All the staff showed me kindness and support right from management to
the girls in the kitchen. So from the bottom of my heart, many thanks.

My wife has been resident here for around three years. She has been very well looked after and is happy here. In spite of her lack of mobility, she has had no bed sores or any problems with her fragile skin. There is a low staff turnover, and this enables her to form close and friendly relationships
with her carers. The care is kind and loving and the nursing care is also very good and, when concerns have arisen, management have addressed and resolved them swiftly.

Addison Park is quite a small care home but very peaceful and relaxed. The manager and staff were excellent and really made my father and myself and mother feel at home. The staff really do care and very much showed it to my father, he did say if he ever had to go into permanent care he would like to
go there.

My elderly father was admitted to hospital in December and discharged in February specifically to the care of a nursing home, and Addison Park was chosen. His prognosis was poor, he was unable to stand unaided, couldn't speak much and whilst in hospital, the nurses had to feed him. At Addison Park he
was looked after and coaxed until we have reached the point where he is eating, walking with a frame, which is what he did before and is ready to leave. In fact, he can't understand why he needed to be there! Without the care he received from Addison Park I think this story would have had a very different ending.
As I write this the building is being improved and a new roof is already in place. I believe other work is underway.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.655)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.655) out of 10 for Addison Park is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.755 for Addison Park is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.755

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Addison Park is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
