The home is divided into two units: Ashdowne providing general nursing care for older people, and Pinnex providing specialist care for those with mental health care needs. Ashdowne Units offers single room accommodation on two floors, with en-suite facilities. Companion rooms are available.

I felt compelled to write this review for the exceptional care provided to my mother during her stay at Pinnex House/Ashdown Nursing Home.
The high level of professionalism and dedication I witnessed from every member of staff. From the nurses and care assistants to the kitchen staff and housekeeping,
everyone demonstrated a genuine care and respect for the residents, while maintaining a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
This compassionate approach was evident not only in the excellent care provided to my mother but also in the way staff interacted with other residents and their families. The respect and dignity afforded to all was truly commendable. I believe this positive and supportive environment significantly contributed to my mother's well-being during her stay.
Thank you again for the outstanding care provided to my mother and all the residents of Pinnex Moor House Nursing Home.

My mother underwent an operation and following a month-long stay in hospital needed further rehabilitation care before eventually returning home. She and my father have been married for 75 years and she found it extremely difficult to be parted. The staff were very welcoming to my father who spent hours
with her every day. From the moment we were offered a place at Ashdowne Care Centre we were reassured. The manageress came into the hospital to meet with the family and discuss the care needed and to chat with Mum to make sure this would be a good fit. My sister and I then met with the nursing manager. Her comment of "this is the home of the residents and I feel it a privilege to work here " really summed up the whole philosophy of the home. Each and every member of staff we encountered from there on has been, kind, caring, efficient and above all "smiley". Mum has been in for 5 weeks and is well enough to now return home. A heartfelt thank you to all!

We arrived at Ashdowne Care Centre understanding we had a short time left with Dad. It has been about just looking after Dad and caring for his needs ie his catheter and swabs for his mouth as he's not been able to drink or eat. The staff are amazing, they come every hour to tend to Dad. He is made
as comfortable as possible, the level of care is exceptional actually not only for him but for my mum, they have truly been the very best they could be for them both. I'm so grateful. They turn Dad every hour and they have had a lovely clean room with every facility necessary. I would not hesitate to have Mum here or recommend to others. We as a family are so very grateful to everyone, the staff are amazing.

The home is good. The nursing staff was excellent and care was always very good. There were activities and events throughout her stay. The room was perfectly adequate for my mother with advanced Alzheimer's but it could do with redecorating and some more thought on furniture. Mum actually improved slightly
over the period of 2 years before her illness finally got her. Recommended. Admin was efficient and staff lovely.

At first, we were nervous about our dad being admitted to a care home after breaking his hip and a short stay in hospital. Quickly, our minds were put at ease, and he settled in instantly. My mum was very happy and settled at this care home. The staff were both attentive and professional in caring for her. She liked being there which is something I didn't think would ever happen. From the senior nursing staff, right through to the carers, cleaners, cooks and laundry staff - all were caring
and well-trained. It was lovely that I could take my dog in to visit her, which she loved. They had a variety of activities that Mum could choose to join in, which she did.
Visiting was easy and they never made me feel in the way. I got to know some of the staff and it was lovely to see the same people working there week after week.
My mum had complex care needs which they managed extremely well and kept me informed. Mum's appetite came back and she was chatting and laughing - even on days when her ill health was causing her pain. The staff there have created a sense of community which was wonderful. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

The manager made my sister laugh on her arrival at Pinnex, something she had not done for a long time. Wonderful, I could have wept. We have and are so happy and relieved our beautiful sister is so well cared for and loved by all the staff. They are like family and always look after us too.
We also
think the re-decorations being done around the house are fabulous - I regularly show my friends pictures. We have also been able to decorate our sister's room to personalise it for her! We love this care home and the staff, especially the manager.

I was dreading coming in but I am so pleased I did. I absolutely love it here. The staff goes out of their way to be so helpful to do things for you. They are all so good and are willing to listen to you any time of day or night. The Manager is so good with staff and patients alike.

On the whole, caring staff. One or two need renewal e.g 1.5 - 2 hours for painkillers, otherwise helpful and not annoyed at bell pulling. Senior staff should not give a full report and other ideas in full hearing of clients - but I think they enjoy it. I personally don't think this is training for junior
staff. The manager has too much to do and should be helped more.
