The team at Greenslades are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents, each and every day, providing care with dignity and compassion.   

Providing nursing, dementia and palliative care, they also offer respite care breaks, which can be booked in advance. These are ideal for carers in the community, who would like to plan a short break themselves, knowing their loved one is in safe hands. These breaks can be for just a couple of weeks, or longer if desired.

The home-cooked food prepared by the chef is delicious, from roast dinners with all the trimmings, to fish and chip Fridays, home-made soups and lighter bites. There is also home-baking every day for afternoon tea.   

This summer, the residents have been enjoying growing their own produce, from radishes and onions, to carrots and tomatoes, which the chef has used in the kitchens. There are raised beds in the gardens, perfect for residents and families who love gardening together. And for those who prefer to watch the wildlife, there are two conservatories overlooking the enclosed gardens.

The bedrooms at Greenslades are spacious and beautifully decorated, with residents encouraged to bring their own items and small pieces of furniture, to truly make them feel at home.

The home also has a hair salon for regular appointments with the hairdresser. And the residents often enjoy pamper sessions in the salon and the relaxation room, with manicures and hand massages. And in the lounges, they enjoy a variety of activities, from games to gentle exercise and music sessions.

A recent addition to the home is a giant interactive tablet, where the residents can play games and test their knowledge.   

And the community are embraced into life at Greenslades, from students who visit regularly, to family and friends, who are welcome at any time. Residents also enjoy regular canine visits too!

Such a friendly group of people. They have so much patience and kindness for the people in the home. I have learnt so much from them and hope to learn even more! They have been so welcoming to me as a volunteer and have helped me to expand my interest in care and working with people.

This has been a difficult year for myself and I knew the Christmas season would be particularly hard, but thanks to all the Greenslades team my mum and myself have been able to make some wonderful lasting memories. Nothing has been too much trouble. Christmas decorations and lights a plenty, music,
entertainment and warm welcoming feeling in the home throughout the whole of December with plenty of opportunity for family and friends to join in. A lovely Christmas lunch and a day spent with my Greenslades family. Thank you all so much, well done everyone.

My review is from March 2023 to December 2023, it's about residents and workers both. Since March 2023 I had to make the painful decision that broke my heart to to put my lovely dad in a care home and I chose Greenslades due to its name and quirky building and kind nature. And I was right, everyone
both residents and workers are amazing, lovely people with very kind, caring hearts. I'm very fond of everyone there and the workers for taking such good care of my dad, while my son relapsed cancer and I got cancer in September, life has been tough. But I'm very happy with his care and I know he's being looked after and he's very happy and that's very important to me. 5 stars for Greenslades.

My grandmother has been in the care of Greenslades for the past few years. I can see that she is happy and well cared for. The staff put on many different activities to cater to all the residents' abilities. It’s been wonderful to see her up and dancing and enjoying the music. Plus, of course wherever
there is cake she will be, so the coffee mornings are brilliant. I’ve always felt welcomed when I have visited the home and the staff are lovely and genuinely care.

Arrived feeling lost (I had been passing out). I heard staff laughing and chatting as they dealt with another room and realised this was a good home with lovely staff. I find the food excellent (like good home cooked food). This had improved my health. My husband was cooking and frankly he is not a
good cook.

The home has made some huge improvements recently, they are such a fantastic team, they look after not only the residents but family as well, there's a real homely feel to the home and it looks like winter wonderland. Well done Team Greenslades.

Well looked after friendly helpful staff I've been here for four months and have been very happy here. I am on the ground floor which gives me easy access to the garden where I feed the birds and hedgehogs.

Mum had 5 weeks of respite at Greenslades and although it took 7-10 days to settle in, she came out having gained a little weight and was much less agitated. All the staff provided us with a warm welcome and detailed updates on request.

The kindness and care shown to my father during the seven months he lived at Greenslades was excellent. All the nursing and care team were supportive of the family as we all navigated a difficult time in Dad's life. The nursing team liaised with the GP to ensure Dad was comfortable and well cared for
following a serious head injury. End-of-life care was dignified and we were given space as a family to support Dad in his final hours, privacy was shown but assistance was on hand if we needed it.

Our visit, unannounced received such a welcome, our old friend had been reluctant to leave her home to go to Greenslades, yet the staff, the nurses, the carers were so kind, so patient and so thoughtful that she soon appreciated the move. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Our friend was able to
keep paintings, pictures, bedding covers in her room which looked homely and welcoming. We did not know that such compassion could last and it did until sadly she died. My grateful thanks for helping her last moments and holding her hand.

My friend was frightened to go into a care home but grudgingly accepted a 'short-term' stay after recovering from a fall. We checked out the CQC, all good, then made an unannounced visit prior to her admission. It was perfect, clean, tidy and well-ventilated. An excellent menu and staff who were unfailingly
caring and thoughtful. Her stay was short but the care was exceptional and we are immensely grateful.

Our mum spent a very short time here and sadly peacefully passed away on the 2nd of October. During Mum's stay, the nursing staff were very kind, caring and supportive. A particular mention is worthy of two lovely staff who spent the last few days with Mum and us and totally showed compassion and kindness.
They worked under immense pressure from staff shortages but did not allow this to distract from spending quality time with Mum in her final hours. The care system is clearly struggling throughout the country, so it is not surprising that staff are under pressure. They work long hours and are expected to cope. We are so truly grateful for all the care and attention we were provided and on behalf of Mum, we thank you so much.

Mum has been a resident for around a year and we could not be happier. The staff are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble. Mum loves the food, which is great as she was not really eating much before moving to Greenslades. The home is always clean and welcoming.

My mum was a resident in Greenslades for just under a year.
The staff were so good, particularly when she was in her final days. They became her family and really cared.
Mum enjoyed the food and activities. She loved putting her feet in the paddling pool during the heatwave and the lollies - a lovely
touch.
Her room was always clean and she looked smart whenever I visited.
I had little to do with the manager or admin but near the end, the manager spent time with me and it was obvious she knew Mum and cared for her.
I will never forget their kindness.

The nursing staff and care staff were lovely and excellent. The admin side and staff numbers need to be addressed so there are sufficient staff to do the work. The admin side in the home needs attention.
The building - furniture is tied.
