Vale View Heights is a relaxed, caring and friendly home offering high-quality professional care. Located in East Devon, the expertly designed home enjoys outstanding views of its beautiful mature gardens and as far as the sea over Sid Valley.

The home offers a range of care including Residential Care, Nursing Care and Respite Care.

As a team, they strive to ensure that all residents are given the opportunity to improve their quality of life by providing a safe and comfortable environment. Staff do all they can to help residents maintain their relationships and have a "virus-proof” visitor room in which relatives are welcome to visit their loved ones without fear of spreading infection.

My experience of this care home has been excellent. The staff and management seem to care for the residents and work hard to make the home, well.... a home. There have been issues with the standard of food which was raised in a family and residents meeting (before lockdown) and a new chef was recruited.
They were ahead of the government on the pandemic so although this meant we weren't able to visit for months, they then installed a visitor room with a glass wall and speakers so you can visit in safety.

This care home is a very well run home with caring staff, including nursing staff, many of whom have worked at the home for many years and know the residents intimately, making appropriate adjustments to suit the individual and manage the few dementia sufferers with tact, dignity, and respect. It is
a happy home and Mum has been a contented resident for 6 years. Facilities for residents are good and attention is paid to safety and to hygiene and is COVID-safe. Catering is excellent and residents have a choice of menu and cognisance is taken of dietary requirements ie. diabetes. Early, pre-emptive, action to close the home to visitors has protected lives and staff from COVID. The home offers a range of activities for residents and trips out - though these have had to be curtailed this year. Each room has a TV and in Mum's case, I have had a satellite box fitted so that she can view Polish TV. I have no hesitation in recommending the care home to families considering placing a relative in care.

I can, of course, only comment from my personal knowledge of my mother's experience since she moved to the care home 3 years ago. To that extent, I have been entirely satisfied with all aspects of her time in their care.
She was, understandably, reluctant to leave her home and found some aspects of
the inevitable change of life pattern and loss of independence difficult to adjust to - neither of which should reflect as a criticism of the level of commitment of care and concern she has received throughout her time as a resident.
I have no doubt that she has come to understand and appreciate this as time as moved on; indeed, she has better understood this as her general medical state of wellbeing has deteriorated.

Most excellent. A truly safe environment for my father who has Parkinsons and dementia. Staff are very kind and attentive. The home is set in beautiful quiet surroundings. I would recommend this care home for those seeking to place a relative and have peace of mind that their needs will be met.

My mum came here from hospital with sepsis; she now can’t walk and has to get the carers to do everything for her. As you can imagine, she found this very hard. All the staff at the nursing home are fantastic; nothing is too much trouble. They are very kind to us as well. The food is also very good
- a choice with every meal.

The food is always the same, not a lot of vegetables for me to have with veg and salad. The staff are very obliging, and manners help a lot and to be smiling, but I know it is hard when working in the day and night. More lasagne, lovely chicken, pork curries and cottage pie, please. Like Chinese food
but could be better.

I am delighted with my room with its shower room and a beautiful outlook to the colourful gardens. The staff are all very pleasant and helpful I am very pleased that the minibus trips have started up again these are very enjoyable.

I am very happy with the care home.
My only issue with it would be the impression that they are always short of staff and the cleanliness of her room could be better.
My mother is very happy which is the only thing that really matters.

My husband went into the care home in very poor health and needing help on many fronts. He is now much happier due to the attention of staff and the routines. The dedicated carers stimulate my husband chatting to him and engaging him in activities. The care home has had a change of ownership and is
suffering from a change of familiar care staff. This has been unsettling for all concerned. The gardens at the care home are beautiful and well maintained, the house is spacious, however, it is looking tired. In my husband's room, the toilet doesn't flush easily, toilet toll holder is hanging off, tap rotates and wall light doesn't work. The resident's toilet downstairs is not very pleasant and needs upgrading. Core care staff have been approachable and lovely.

Overall standards of care and life's necessities cannot be faulted. Activities of late have appeared to be of a lesser good standard than hitherto, possibly as a result of more frequent changes of the suitable staff.
Tidiness of room could be improved, though it is realised that the needs for specialised
medication and accessories make for much additional supplies being spread around the room. Value is rated less than excellent; only as a reflection of the overall charges for the complete care package, which are quite high.

My husband was a resident at the care home for 3 years until he passed away in May 2016. His mental, emotional and physical needs were cared for by the wonderful staff, who without exception, provided the highest standards of care. Every staff member took such pride in their work and showed genuine
affection for him. We were always welcome to visit, and on many occasions dined with him at the home.
It was such a relief to be confident that my husband was being so well looked after.
When we took him to the theatre and out for meals, staff were only too happy to drive him and pick him up, as in latter times he was in a wheelchair and it would have been impossible for us to take him out alone.
