My 93-year-old Mother had gone straight from Hospital and moved into the home before Christmas originally for respite but is now going to stay and has settled in very well and is a lot happier, cleaner and healthier than she was at home, her mind is also clearer due to less stress. Mum says the food
is lovely and she has people to talk to and also the staff are very helpful and friendly, I take my hat off to them. Her room had just been decorated and carpeted, new furniture with her own large TV which is her life. The room location she is in is very suitable for her needs due to her mobilisation issues and how she was at home, near to the loo and lift. It's great to see the change in mum, they have gardens which will be great for her in the summer months as she loves plants. There are visiting restrictions due to covid but it keeps the guest safe and can't be helped. The staff do try to accommodate visits best as possible.

My dad, at 98 with walking difficulties, is very happy at Dove Tree House and he has no complaints. The staff are tremendous and very welcoming and helpful and gives my father great help and support. All the staff seem to be very caring for all their residents. He is well looked after with good food,
has his medicine regularly and is washed and cleaned daily. The home itself is very well run and they are still taking some Covid precautions by taking your temperature when you visit. No complaints whatsoever. They even e-mailed me with some concerns when he first went into the home which they resolved quickly without me having to get involved with other care agencies.

My mother has only been at Dove Tree House for four months, but she has settled really well and looks so much better than she has done for the last couple of years. I was very impressed when visiting prior to my mother moving in. The manager and staff were extremely helpful and answered all my questions.
I cannot praise their care of her highly enough. They are a very kind and caring team and nothing is too much trouble for any of them.
Dove Tree House is not modern but is a homely, clean and comfortable care home with a lovely garden at the rear. My mother enjoys all her meals and seems to be very fond of the staff who look after her.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home.

My dad has been a resident at Dove Tree House for almost seven years. The home is very much a "home from home" and has a lovely friendly atmosphere. He is very happy and well cared for and gets on well with all the staff and residents. Dad enjoys the friendly banter with the staff, he thrives on it
and it makes him smile. That is so important, after all, it is his home.
We have a good rapport with the staff and the lovely manager and feel confident that they do their best for my dad, adjusting his care plan to suit Dad's needs and keeping him buoyant and supported. What more could we ask for?
We thank every single member of staff for all they have done and continue to do on a daily basis to keep all the residents safe and well, especially throughout the pandemic. Thank you team Dove Tree for making my dad smile and keeping him safe, well cared for and happy.

I have always been totally satisfied with the care that has been provided for my brother who has lived at Dove Tree House since 2014 and continues to be very happy. This is mainly due to the excellence of the carers and all other staff, under the professional but kind and caring manager who has always
ensured that the home was "just a big happy family" but paying particular attention to individual needs. Everyone has always been available to relatives of the residents to help and advise if necessary which has been reassuring. I was particularly impressed by the way everything was done during the Covid pandemic, including the provision of The Pod. I must admit that the increasing fees are worrying, if understandable in the present political and global climate, particularly for self-funding residents.

Where self-funding residents may be running low on funds please do contact Social Services as soon as possible to alert them that you may need to switch to a local council-funded care package. The local council will do a care needs assessment and, if the care package meets their criteria, should help you to secure a funding support package going forwards. Where do I begin when talking about the amazing care the Dove Tree House Care Home staff give their residents? My beautiful nan lived under their care for nearly three years but sadly she passed away three weeks ago on the 15th of August but what I can say is that she loved her time being cared for
by these amazing people. The staff at Dove Tree have become family, they made my nan feel so special, she loved every minute with them. At times my nan could be cheeky but they knew straight away how to keep her cheekiness down. Though I didn't visit often the stories I would hear from my mum always made me smile. I know without a doubt that my nan was loved there and she will be truly missed. I would happily recommend this beautiful home to anyone because the care is outstanding. Towards the end of my nan's time at the home, I struggled to go in and see her but they let me sit in the garden and offered me drinks which made me feel very close. Just want to say a massive thank you.

My mum had been a resident at Dove Tree House Care Home for nearly three years and received excellent care. Nothing but compassionate, professional and supportive throughout Mum's time living there.
What I really need to emphasise is how amazing mum's end-of-life care was.
They gave me the time to
stay by mum's side, to support them in Mum's care as I wanted to but obviously when I found this hard they gave Mum the love and attention whilst also supporting me through my grief.
They made Mum's home my home for me to be able to stay with Mum as she was scared.
We as a family watched the dedication, empathy, compassion and dignity to Mum and this brought us immense comfort.
They knew exactly when to call the appropriate people/hospice when Mum was showing signs of distress and helped make plans that supported Mum's needs for comfort.
During the final week, my brother and I were by Mum's side 24/7. They gave us this time we will be forever grateful for.
The Dove Tree team are just superb.

If you care about your loved ones, especially with Dementia, please find another home.
We did not have a good experience with Dove Tree.
We found the majority of the staff very standoffish. The management was not satisfactory, unapproachable, and rude. The safety measures in place, in our experience,
were poor.
Covid restrictions far too restrictive - best interests not valued. There was one caregiver we found true comfort and trust in.

To people looking at Dovetree please reconsider using this home. Dovetree seriously needs to be accessed by the CQC (unannounced visit) and drastically improved tenfold.
My mum never had water/drinks available on hand 24/7, she had to ask but considering the fact she had dementia, she wouldn't have
asked.
Some of the staff were not that friendly to myself or my partner (in front of my mum, which was upsetting for her).
On one visit they brought in my mum and told us she had wet herself (which upset and embarrassed my mum very much) the carer then left us without cleaning my mum.
Government guidelines were not followed, after visiting restrictions were lifted by the government, Dovetree ramped theirs up. We were told the tough restrictions suited them.
My mum eventually had a fall, broke her hip and sadly never recovered. She died in hospital on Jan 28th 2022.
My mum had a pressure mat alarm next to the bed but was found on the floor in the doorway of her room.
Personal opinion 0 stars.

To address your concerns - CQC regularly visit Dove Tree House, their reports are published on the CQC website and are freely available for all to read - all are highly complimentary of the care being provided at the home. Your mum, as with all residents at the home, always had water and drinks available. Our care team members, in particular at Dove Tree House, are exceptionally friendly and helpful and did their very best to treat you and your partner accordingly. Your mum was never presented to you still wet having wet herself. Government guidelines were followed to the letter and, indeed, on occasions, as per those Government guidelines, we had to make operational decisions locally at the care home to protect our residents and care team members due to specific local circumstances. We are, of course, very sorry that your mum has passed away.

Mum has been here for nearly three years and her care has been impeccable. The staff are absolutely wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. I can’t thank them enough for all that they do for her and us as a family. They have had a very difficult time since Covid but their precautions have kept everyone

My mum has been with the care home since they opened a long time ago, several years in fact.
The care has always been amazing and has continued its standard since day one when Mum went in there. She is always happy and appreciates what all the staff do for her. They are always assessing Mum's needs
which may change from one day to the next. Even when we've been in, the girls are always kind, friendly and always willing to help. They are quick to spot any abnormality or out of character for Mum and ring the GP when needed.
She had to go into hospital a few years ago and the organisation and care was something that went so smoothly thanks to the coordination of all people involved. They have a good rapport with all the community nurses and the GP. This year and last year was a challenge due to Covid but they smashed it by having a garage converted so we could see Mum. It was so clever. They always have karaoke and normally would have other activities. I can't thank them enough!

My uncle is a service user and he’s been at Dove Tree House Care Home for a few years. I can only give a view on my experience from when I visit him, he is very content and happy, he has a lovely room, the choice and quality of food is great, staff are kind and try to accommodate all his needs. The
most important thing is that he never criticises the care he gets so I take from that that he is happy.

Once I had stepped through the door at Dove Tree House and was met by their brilliant manager, I knew I had found the right place to bring Mum up from Wales to be nearer to family. Distance meant that my mum was unable to view before moving in but any concerns I had about making the decision on her
behalf were quickly wiped away when we arrived. She absolutely loves living at Dove Tree House. Mum is very sociable and all the staff are wonderful with her. She calls them her new extra family. Dove Tree is very pro active and produces a newsletter, for this I have to say an enormous thank you! It keeps family informed about what activities have been going on and supported by wonderful photographs. Mum can be a fussy eater but the chef met with mum when she arrived and she has really enjoyed her food. During this past year it’s been a relief for the family to know that she is in such safe and caring hands. A massive thank you to all. You are amazing!

My 101-year-old father has been living at Dove Tree House for the past 7 weeks. In this time I have been impressed by the friendly, nicely-confident, professional and caring attitude of all the staff whom I have come into contact with. I have no hesitation in recommending Dove Tree House to anyone who
is having to choose a Home for an elderly relative without being able to visit it beforehand. I visited Dove Tree House 19 months ago when I liked the lively, homely atmosphere. Covid regulations mean that visiting is restricted but the continued need to keep everyone safe is vital, and at Dove Tree House this is being achieved. Of course, I wish I could visit my father every day, to help him settle and get used to his new way of life; here's hoping that this may be possible in the autumn.

I live several hours drive from Exeter but am able to rest assured that my mother is in good hands. They take great care of her and keep me updated with newsletters etc (and updates about tests, vaccines etc during COVID). When I phone staff are always helpful and courteous, ensuring they pass the phone
on to my mother promptly. Her health and well-being are always taken care of, with a range of activities etc.

The manager and her staff have all been brilliant in dealing with my stepfather. Our first contact was via email and phone during lockdown and once he was provisionally accepted he and I then had a Zoom meeting/introduction with the manager and one of her staff. On the day of his arrival, several staff
came out and introduced themselves, one of them promising to cut his (long overdue) hair. Every time I have delivered anything to the home for him the staff have been great and my wife has visited him twice, the first time on her own end recently with me. When we saw my stepfather together it was the happiest we'd seen him in years. We are delighted with the service provided and happy that my stepfather is now in a caring, supportive and friendly environment.
As we haven't yet been allowed inside the home, I can't comment comprehensively on some of the survey questions.

The care and attention that my mother received could not be better. The staff are all excellent and the facility is excellently run. The whole family feels very lucky to have my mother in such a wonderful place.

My mother age 92 and father age 94 moved into Dove Tree House, August 2018. The staff have been wonderful plus caring to help them to settle in. The management and care assistants make family and friends visit very welcoming.
Sadly, my father passed away recently with natural causes, and the support
and love from the staff for my mother has been amazing. I am very grateful to them all for the care they are providing for mother.
The home is always spotless and homely; the food is good with a variety of choices for each mealtime.
I am happy that my mother is in a safe environment where all her requirements are met.

My mother has been a resident for 15months, having been living alone for six months with declining strength and mobility, and increasing dementia. I visited almost daily for the first six months, during which time her physical state improved considerably. In addition, she was very quickly settled into
her new home, and friends. She often states that she feels safe and well cared for. I saw frequent and strong evidence of the professional way the home is organised and led, and the care and attention of the staff - always delivered appropriately and with emphasis on the individual. Staff-resident relationships are very positive. I am impressed by the constant presence of a staff member, catering and daily activities. I am allowed to be very involved, and they are very flexible: for example, supporting me to take my mother into the garden for as long as she wishes, or providing a wheelchair to allow her to come home for part of the day, or for outings to the beach, garden centre, cafe etc.

An amazing client centred home away from home. The managers, the carers, kitchen, and background staff provide caring, sensitive and friendly care, treating all the residents as family. Daily afternoon activities keep everyone entertained and the newly formed garden is a lovely asset for quiet times
and garden parties. The chefs provide choices for all meals including cooked breakfasts, which my friend enjoyed every day. Birthdays are also celebrated with amazing cakes and the home decorated for celebrations throughout the year.
The home remained COVID free throughout the pandemic which was a testimony to the care given even though we couldn’t visit, Skype was provided for families if appropriate.
The end of life care my friend was given was so lovely and caring, and as a retired nurse myself, I could not fault anything and for that I am truly grateful.
When the time comes I know where I wish to go!

There's very little for me to add, your review is comprehensive and, whilst we value all reviews equally, I will note that yours, coming from a Nurse, and with the experience and ability to 'see all' that this will provide you with, is particularly powerful and rewarding to read. Thank you for identifying all of the care team and the importance of their individual roles - yes, it is a team effort and no team members contribution goes unnoticed or unappreciated! It's great that your friend is happy at Dove Tree. We are working with an architect to see where we can develop a Covid-19 secure visitor room/space/facility so hopefully, you will be able to visit again soon (though probably not with full access to the home of course).
