Lovely home - met with a greeting. The resident was happy to see me, clean and tidy room smelt lovely. Two members of staff were exceptional.

The staff are really friendly. Mum is well looked after. The room is always clean. Food is adequate (Mum does not eat a lot). Mum seems to be comfortable, not easy when she has been bedridden for 2 years (unfortunately).

Putting residents first always seems to be the priority of the staff. Caring but professional at all times. As a relative, I have been kept informed when necessary, which is a great comfort. The new sensory garden, I'm sure, will be a great success.

My step-mum moved into Kenwith Castle at the beginning of March. All the staff have been amazing from our first meeting to settling my step-mum in and the care and support given to her since. She has a beautiful new home with lovely views of a wooded area from her room, peacocks, with beautiful grounds
and a lake to walk by. I looked at many homes before deciding on Kenwith, this is the perfect home for her and her lifestyle. She looks so much better now and is enjoying the company of other residents and has made friends.

Mum has been cared for with dedication and sensitivity right from the first day. On the day she moved in, she was given a warm welcome and efforts were made to make her feel at home. Her preferences were noted and a flexible approach has been taken to ensure that she is comfortable and feels at ease
for instance, she can have a lie in if she wants to and can have her meals in her room rather than having to join the other residents. The staff always seem to have time to sit and talk with her. Standards of cleanliness are high. There is a good variety at mealtimes. Mum says if I can't be at home, this is the very best place to be.

Mum has now been at Kenwith for 9 months and has received the very best care. Her health is now better than it was, both physically and mentally. She loves all the activities of which there are many provided. The care during lockdown has been outstanding. The home ensured that myself and my brother
had a skype call every week. All the staff are wonderful and so caring. 6-star rating.

Dad was very happy at Kenwith, initially for respite and then for permanent care. He loved the activities and we were delighted to be able to have Skype calls during the COVID-19 lockdown. Dad's end of life care was compassionate both for him and his family. I would recommend Kenwith to someone looking

Our dad came to Kenwith for respite and did not return to the family home. He has dementia and became difficult for my elderly mother to care for him. Kenwith helped him to adjust, he loved his room and often said he was at the Kenwith hotel! Dad had eight happy months at Kenwith, he enjoyed trips out
on the minibus and playing skittles with the other residents. During Covid-19, we were able to Skype call him, as no visiting allowed. When Dad was very poorly, they allowed us a last visit, which was my saving grace. Thank you to everyone involved in my Dad's care; he passed away with dignity and surrounded by love. Dad forever in our hearts RIP.

Friendly reception staff. Approachable management. Easy to talk to staff. Very accommodating. Keen to help and provide suggestions. As a son, I feel welcomed into the home and therefore comfortable with the surroundings. Mum seems well cared for, although struggles with the concept of being in a home,
the staff do all they can to help her adjust.

The facilities, activities and care are great, unfortunately with Alzheimer's my mum is not in a position to appreciate them all as she doesn't know where she is, or why she is there.
There have been a few occasions when the staffing levels have been too low and there has been a delay in assistance
when called, but the staff are always really nice and caring when they interact with my mum.

What a fab place!
Just a wonderful 'home from home'. My mum is very content there and she's not easy to please! Every single member of staff I've met has been friendly and helpful. It's such a load off my shoulders to know that Mum is being cared for 110%. Thank you.

Kenwith Castle staff have been very good to my father. They have been kind and accommodating and made him feel very welcome. he is receiving very high quality care. He feels at home and it is reassuring to know that he is safe and his needs are met.

Heavy reliance on agency staff resulted in a lack of continuity and mistakes in care. Care provided not resident-centric. Based on personal observations during visits, personal experience of dealing with Care South and having the opportunity to have read notes made by care staff in care records I would
not choose to be looked after this Home. My opinion is objective, based on factual evidence and my personal experience of the Home in their caring for my mother. All I would say is look past the Country House elegance and landscaped gardens. Since moving homes, my mother has a more positive demeanour, good appetite, put on 7kg in the first month, participates in regular daily activities and doesn’t need the increased dose of antidepressants proposed while she was at Kenwith Castle.

We are disappointed that this is Ann A’s perception of her Mother’s care during her stay with us at Kenwith Castle.


Naturally we are extremely concerned and have undertaken a thorough investigation of the issues that she has raised.


There is no evidence from the individuals who cared for her Mother, nor her Mother’s care plans and daily notes to substantiate her allegations.


We also strongly believe that this medium is not an appropriate platform for Kenwith Castle to defend such unfair and untrue allegations.


Suffice to say that Kenwith Castle has been rated ‘GOOD’ in all its key areas by the Care Quality Commission and ‘OUTSTANDING’ in Well-led during the time of her Mother’s stay.

I am so pleased that we chose Kenwith Castle to care for my mother.
She has been looked after very well and made very welcome (as her family have when they are able to visit from time to time).
From the first day she arrived, it was made known to her that Kenwith was her home.
She was able to settle
in and became familiar with her surroundings.
Despite its size, Kenwith is very homely.
The nurses, carers are very kind, patient and conscientious.
The vocational nurses provide an amazing level of service and there is one in particular who has kept me up to date with Mum's health.
The event organisers have taken Mum out to various locations which she has enjoyed very much.
They have also involved Mum in arts and crafts.
Again wonderful care and attention to detail.
All the staff are very pleasant and helpful and this comes down to the managers and how well they manage Kenwith.

I have found the matron a really great help.

Hi, I am Jo. It is a great pleasure to have been appointed as Home manager at Kenwith Castle. I feel privileged to manage such a beautiful home, supporting a lovely and already established team. I have 13 years of experience in health and social care and have previously managed nursing, residential and dementia homes. My last year has been spent at Fremington Manor supporting the home manager in a deputy Role.


I have a passion for care and am dedicated to ensuring high levels of quality, person-centred care. I thrive in supporting my team to be the best they can be, meaning the residents' lives are fulfilled and no need is left unmet.
