Richard and Stephen Hart have owned Hart Care since November 2010. At the end of 2020 and going into 2021, a significant amount of investment and improvement took place. This was to ensure the long-term safety of residents, and to help enhance care standards.

They admit elderly residents who need assistance and support to sustain a good quality of life. Their main focus is always the resident’s safety whilst ensuring choice and dignity are maintained.

They monitor care delivery, to check that it improves on an on-going basis. They recruit staff who buy into Hart Care's culture and who genuinely care for their residents.

The activities program is varied and allows residents to participate in a range of fun exercises, thereby helping to keep them interested and engaged. For residents who like being outside, they have a large, enclosed garden and are located within Dartmoor National Park.

I have been a resident for about 8 weeks and have to say I feel at home here.
The staff are very kind and the grounds are an added bonus as I loved my garden where I used to live.
I am grateful to my sister for finding Hart Care.

The Management, Nursing and Staff members were professional, attentive and caring to my Great Aunt. When she passed away they were very supportive to our family. They all, in my opinion, give it a happy, homely feel. The home itself has been refurbished in some areas but could do with more updating,
particularly in the bathrooms and en-suites.

My husband was only at Hart Care Ravenscroft for the last 3 weeks of his life, but the care he received was excellent. They treated him with dignity and love and nothing was too much trouble.


They also gave me a lot of support during that time, if I needed a hug or a chat they were there for me.

I would recommend this nursing home to anyone.

My father requires 24-hour care and presents the staff at Hart Care with a complex range of medical issues and communication difficulties. However, he has always been treated with great respect, kindness and patience and when acute medical episodes have occurred, he has received excellent clinical care.
The management are very committed to providing a happy, stimulating and inclusive environment whilst respecting the individual preferences of residents. They welcome feedback and have always encouraged the sharing of any concerns which they are prompt to act upon.

Hart Care staff are almost universally friendly and respectful to my parents. When there has been a problem there is a process for reporting this and action is taken.
There have been issues over internal communication between staff which have been frustrating but none of these has led to any major
problems.
As a GP myself I do feel the staff need updating with regard to the Deprivation of Liberties Safeguards /Mental Capacity Act. My mother who has capacity requested on one occasion to see a GP, however, the nurse on duty made a decision this was not appropriate.
On occasions, my mother who is prone to falls has not received sufficient monitoring when washing/dressing in the morning.

My mother has been a resident at Hart Care for nearly four years. All the staff are excellent and very caring and the home is always spotlessly clean and we'll maintained.
Families are kept well informed about any changes which occur and if ever any issues arise which I am not happy about these are
dealt with efficiently and swiftly.
Patients needs are well catered for by visiting personnel eg hairdressers etc.


Although I have no experience of fees charged by similar homes, through conversations I have had with other people the fees at Hart Care seem to be very reasonable


I would have no hesitation in recommending Hart Care in fact I have done so on several occasions.

Meet the Team (3)

Kelly

Kelly Inglis

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2023

Kelly has worked at Hart Care since April 2023 when she came on board as the deputy manager and has recently taken over as the home manager.


Having previously worked at Bupa nursing homes for 4 years, Kelly started as a healthcare assistant and worked her way up to unit manager where she achieved a distinction for her Level 5 in Leadership and Management.


Kelly is a firm believer in person-centred care and firmly believes that care is not one size fits all. She is incredibly proud that her team are so adaptable and really does have their residents at the heart of what they do.


She has 4 children and 2 dogs and the younger two children love to come to the home and join in when there are events on. Dexter, the youngest of the 2 dogs, does occasionally make an appearance when Kelly is able to bring him in, much to the delight of all residents and staff alike!

Karen Honey

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Karen has an unbelievable amount of experience and has worked in nursing homes for 15 years. This means she brings some fabulous skills to Hart Care, some of which have already been instrumental in improving our care standards.


Tracy

Tracy Williams

Job Title: Administrator

Joined: 2011

Tracy has worked at Hart Care since 2011 and has been the home administrator most of that time. Tracy enjoys meeting residents, family members and visitors each day and is often accompanied by Bandit, her Springer Spaniel. Bandit is a very friendly fellow whose two favourite things are a tummy tickle or going for a walk across the road on the Moor. Bandit also likes our residents a lot and visits them as part of our activities timetable. Bandit's place when not doing these visits is next to Tracy's desk.
