Situated in the beautiful village of Buckfastleigh Redmount Residential Home occupies an enviable location in the Southwest Devon countryside.

Just half a mile from the famous Buckfastleigh Abbey the home boasts wonderful countryside views and a peaceful setting, as well as comfortable accommodation and dedicated care and nurture.

The home has an outdoor decked area, where residents can enjoy the country air and tend to the many potted plants that brighten the exterior.

Inside there are several well-appointed lounge areas, a conservatory and a dining room, as well as warm and welcoming bedrooms for elderly residents and those living with milder forms of dementia.

My mum stayed at Redmount for 3 months following stroke and heart attack. I visited 4 hours daily to support recovery so witnessed many of care home's practices. Poor food quality, someone worked hard to suit needs but before complaining mum was often served spaghetti hoops and oily potato waffles.
Mum's rehabilitation needs frequently not met, staff not briefed on positioning and equipment use. Approx 30 mins wait for call bell response and staff often hard to find. Found mum's medication on bed or floor, implying staff weren't always ensuring she'd taken it. Found mum in underwear on chair, end of her bed or more frequently out of reach of her call bell, she is immobile and non-verbal so this is so dangerous and unacceptable. Care staff are supportive but from our experience there are either too many residents or not enough staff. Wide disparity across staff's care abilities and training. Home isn't well managed/led. Wouldn't recommend particularly for residents with high needs.

My mum has been at Redmount for nearly 3 years now and I can't recommend them enough, from the management to the care staff and all other staff involved. Everyone is extremely kind patient caring and professional and my mum has been very well looked after so thank you to all involved.

My Mum stayed for over 3weeks of respite care following a stroke. Management and all of the staff at Redmount were extremely kind and dedicated. I also found them all very approachable, it was easy to discuss any issue I was concerned about regarding Mum. Mum was very happy and well looked after and
was sad to leave. She particularly enjoyed the live music afternoons.

My grandfather has been at Redmount for over six months now, the staff are not only attentive but I see a genuine interest and care for the well-being of all residents. They are warm, they are patient and they are encouraging in every action and task no matter how unpleasant at times.
I love the fact
that I can see all the activities that happen at the home - there is something for all, it's great that the routines they install keeps the residents stimulated and entertained.
Whilst I hate the fact that my grandad is no longer able to look after himself, he is definitely in the next best place available and I am so grateful to the staff for their ongoing care and support. Well done and thank you team Redmount.

A pleasant home with excellent staff and management. Immaculately clean with a good outside area. Visiting is encouraged at all suitable times as is discussion with the manager and staff. Very good feedback My father was moved into Redmount directly from the hospital and we hope he will be able to remain
there as his home from now on. Parking is difficult due to lack of space. Not rated activities and as of yet not discussed finances. Overall excellent!

Redmount have been amazing with both my parents, they are extremely caring and professional. My parents love it, they have a room together which is lovely and bright, the room has plenty of room for them both. Standard of care is brilliant.

Dad initially went to Redmount for respite care but stayed until he passed away. I have nothing but admiration and praise for every single member of staff, from handyman to manager. They all knew me by name and were always willing to answer questions. They treated Dad as they would their own family.
The kitchen and domestic staff are all excellent, too, knowing all the resident's individual likes/dislikes. The manager is running an excellent care facility.

I cannot speak kindly enough about the care and kindness of the staff. However the home does sometimes appear to be understaffed. The food is good and they always accommodate fussy eaters. Everyone worked hard to make life as easy and comfortable as possible despite the difficulties of working in a
building which is not purpose built as a care home.

Sometimes it may seem that we are understaffed because we try to give residents space with their families when they visit, if ever you need to speak to a member of the team please ring the call bell in your mum's room and someone will be with you in minutes. You can also always speak to me whenever you want to do so. Thank you for all your support, and thanks also to the Salvation Army musicians who bring so much joy for residents and staff alike that you organise regularly at Redmount it is truly appreciated.

My mother has been a resident in this home for almost three years, during which time she has been treated with dignity and love. The two years of Covid were a major challenge, the home was Covid free (one of the few in the country). The home continues to be rigorous about doing everything they possibly
can to prevent infection, their major concern being the health and well-being of the residents. I am extremely grateful and humbled by their continued dedication in very challenging times. The owners of the home must be very proud of them.

Since the new manager and deputy manager took over, I have nothing but praise for and gratitude towards the staff at Redmount. Even at their busiest times, they keep me in touch with the well-being of my dad and always have time to talk through Dad's care. When it is difficult to get through on the
phone, I know it is because the staff are busy caring for the residents or dealing with an emergency. I would much rather they do that, putting the residents first at all times, than man the phone line. In recent weeks when my dad has fallen, their loving care has been exceptional, often with the manager refusing to leave my dad's side until medical help arrived. They have acted appropriately and highly professionally at all times and sought medical support as necessary. In recent weeks, when my dad has gone off his food, they have adapted his diet, giving him exactly what he fancies (usually cake!) alongside his usual meal. The staff at Redmount are excellent in practice and manner.

The staff at Redmount are nothing but caring, kind, compassionate and an awesome team. Whenever we visit it is clear that the staff love what they do and resident centered care is their primary concern. Their eagerness presents to the benefit of the residents as they notice even minute changes in behavior
and even eating patterns and escalate it as appropriate. I have no doubt that my grandad is receiving the best possible care.

I was not happy with the manager and the lady that works with her. My sister and some of her family who came all the way from Australia were not allowed to have a photo with my dad because there were two extra people. My dad's health is going downhill. My dad would have loved this, they won't get another
chance (shame on the manager). The manager and the lady that works with her need to be more understanding. They come across as not caring. They will say differently. The other staff are lovely. Also, they need someone to answer the phone. Very difficult to get through even the hospital could not get through. The food looks good but dad is not eating much. The manager needs to work on her manner and the admin Lady.
