Absolutely Phenomenal!
The staff's care, love and attention to detail is just staggering.
The home is like a 5* hotel! It's clean, well maintained, and lovely calming decor.
The home cooked meals are delicious, tea on tap, homemade cakes to delight. Simply fabulous.
Residents can reside in their
room or staff actively encourage them to socialise in the living room (no pressure). Regular activities are run. Activities can be run in your room even to play a game of cards or just to chat!
The hairdresser and chiropodist visit regularly (minimal cost) and do an excellent job alongside staff of keeping your loved one spick and span!
Medicine was ordered timely and if you needed anything from a doctor's visit it would be collected with very little wait.
My grandfather loved gardening. Management even got him a room to overlook the allotments beside the home.
I couldn't wish nor want for my loved one to be in any other place. Whether short or long term care is required, it's simply amazing!

My father has been in Seymour Court for one year. It is the second care home he has stayed in and as our first experience was terrible, we were concerned what this second care home was going to be like. Well we needn't have worried. This care home is absolutely wonderful. In fact it is hard to convey
and put in to words just how good it is. It is not one particular thing it is everything. As I work full time I find it sometimes difficult to visit my father as much as I would like to, but I don't worry too much as I know he has such a fantastic, amazing, incredibly kind, thoughtful and caring team of people looking after him. I would encourage anyone who may have a relative looking for a care home place to get them in to Seymour Court. I have completely 100% done the right thing for him. Other care homes could learn an awful lot by taking a look at Seymour Courts way of doing things. EXCELLENT completely undersells this care home, its so so much more than that.

Mum has been very happy since she arrived here 4 Years ago. She can be a tough taskmaster and high maintenance at times, but the Home has always delivered and looked after her superbly. When the Home went into Administration 3 years ago the Manager and her Team did a magnificent job to keep the Home
running until it was purchased at the end of 2017.


Since Mannamead Care took over ownership there have been many improvements such as the Decor, Care etc. Their friendly, personable, hands-on, caring, family-orientated, efficient, patient-centred Management Style have improved/enhanced the Home still further.


The Manager and her Team continue to do a First Class Job. All the staff - the Carers, Nursing, Catering, Cleaning and Maintenance are outstanding. In my view the recent CQC report was unfair. The Home is excellent. Thank you so much for Caring.

My mother moved to Seymour Court in August 2017 and although it was looking very tired and in need of refurbishment, but now thoroughly redecorated and upgraded, I instantly knew my mother would receive the care she needed and that has been the case. The staff from the manager (the most hands-on manager
I have encountered), nurses, care-assistants, kitchen staff, treat my mother with the love and care that I wish I could have given to her in her own home. My mother is visited almost daily by her family and her care is always of the same high standard.

My mum stayed there for 10 weeks before she sadly died and I cannot fault the care and compassion everybody who worked there has. They treated my mum with dignity and respect. Nothing was too much trouble for mum and us when we visited, it’s like a little family there, very homely with a fabulous atmosphere.
The night mum was poorly they gave us a family room to use if we wanted and they kept coming down to check all was ok and bringing endless cups of tea and food and was happy to explain everything, we cannot thank them enough for what they did for mum and for us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts

I cannot fault the care the staff gave to my mum, during the week she was there, sadly it was a short time for end of life care, nothing was too much trouble. All her children were able to stay with her, which we did, and they also looked after us. If anyone is looking for care for a loved one then
this is the place to go.


From going to look around before moving Mum there from hospital, the warmth and friendliness of the staff shone through from the kitchen staff up to the management, and we knew it was the right place to go.
All the staff made the situation a lot easier, and let us know everything that was happening and why. It has taken a while to write this review but I felt that it is only deserving to a fantastic team, who also came in on days off to take care of Mum. So if you are looking for somewhere, please put Seymour Court at the top of your list to look at, you will not be disappointed.

Marie-Claire is the Registered Manager of Seymour Court Nursing Home, a multi-award-winning nursing home specialising in end-of-life care situated in the heart of Mannamead. Marie-Claire’s experience in the care industry spans decades; she grew up in a family run home, which equipped her with the passion for caring for and empowering the elderly at the end of their lives, and the firm belief in dignity when dying.


Marie-Claire studied art at Central St Martin’s University in London, and later, Bezelel College in Jerusalem and Plymouth University gaining a Bachelor of Arts in Art and Design. She used her skills as both a carer and art practitioner and combined this with the creativity and innovation her higher education had fostered, working in art-therapy in nursing and residential settings in Hertfordshire for many years. On returning to Plymouth, Marie-Claire continued to work in nursing homes, developing her care practice and undertaking further education in dementia studies. Her experience continued to be informed by her creativity, compassion and commitment to delivering exceptional care, when she joined the team at Seymour Court as Registered Manager six years ago.


During her time at Seymour Court, the home has won six regional awards and four national awards at the Great BritishCare Awards, including for Activities Co-Ordinator, Dignity and Care, and Palliative Care Home of the Year. Under Marie-Claire’s management, Seymour Court has also won the Dignity and Respect Care Home of the Year twice at the National Care Awards and were national runners up for the Care Team of the Year and Nutrition and Hydration. In the same period, Marie-Claire has also completed an NVQ in Management at level five, an NVQ in Leadership and Management at level five, and the St Luke’s Hospice Six Steps course. She is committed to best practice, leading by example and encouraging her staff to take every opportunity to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding of how best to empower the residents under their care.


Marie-Claire feels extremely privileged to work with a team who share her vision for a home where residents are supported in making decisions about their care, encouraged to pursue their passions, and given the freedom and opportunity to flourish in their final years. The team at Seymour Court demonstrate an exemplary ability to deliver hope and dignity in a palliative setting. Their phenomenal skill and approach provide the opportunity for close work between residents and staff, enabling the individual to reach acceptance of the dying process and fulfilling wishes in accordance with religious, cultural, and personal preferences.
